:disrocks: aw thank you so much my dd will love it, will send pm

its a yea from me, its beautiful:cloud9: i feel the same dawn, not that much opportunity for dressing up so im going all out:yay:

do you have anything for kids yet??

I think I'll get that dress... I would LOVE to walk down that staircase in it!

Steve and Calum both have kilts, so I thought I'd see what I was going to wear first and then I'll pick something coordinating for Eilidh. I've got a few little dresses for her for the other nights (a pink gingham party dress she got from her gran for her birthday, a little navy dress, a sailor dress and a pink floral dress... her wardrobe is easy, it's me that has the problem!)

Steve brings both a Prince Charlie jacket and shirt, plus a Ghillie shirt - the Ghillie shirt isn't as formal, but that's what he usually wears on his second formal night. Once we did two 7 days cruises back to back, and that meant 4 formal nights in 2 weeks... I can't say we were too bothered by the 4th one!

I think I'll also bring a black velvet dress I have that folds up into nothing as my second outfit. I bought it about 14 years ago and can now get back into it, so there's a bit of pride there :woohoo:

QUESTION: Ladies, when you're on a cruise with more than one formal night, do you wear the same dress twice or do you bring two? Do you tend to go more "all out" for the first one?

Also, do you get your hair done?

Good, I'm glad you are going for it. I look forward to spotting you. How lovely to be able to dress up your little girl too!!!

I wear the same dress for both formal nights, but I know others take two. I need my baggage allowance for other clothing(and shoes;))

(sigh) lots of brunches left, but no one to share with as my DH is not cruising and my DS is too young.

Anyone want to join me for brunch one day? I hate to take up a 2 top table for just one!

Keri

Hi Keri, I would love to join you if you're still looking for someone. :thumbsup2

Hi all,

Andrew and I are sneaking in a week at Disney (love DVC!) with my niece and nephew next month. Does anyone want me to do a Fairy Godmailer card for their child? For those that have never done this, it usually is a post card from the child's favorite character saying somehting like can't wait to see you soon on the Magic or something similar. If you want, let me know and I'll get it out when I am there.

Keri/ aka another Karen

PM sailing down to you  :lovestruc

Thought I would share a funny story after reading the comments about being prepared. My wife worked for like 2 weeks before our cruise last year, ensuring we had everything packed, she unpacked and repacked multiple times to ensure we had everything. Well first night, I took a shower to freshen up, checked the bags and lo and behold, I had no drawers. In all of her packing/unpacking she accidently removed them and never put them back. Needless to say Disney made a fortune on their 20 dollar boxers in the gift shop last year.

As a side note, when we returned, all of my drawers were waiting patiently for me on our bed...

So there is a chance you could overprepare lol....

Oddly enough, my husband did this to me already! We were going on a weekend trip to Zurich, and he went to the suitcase (after I'd zipped it up), lifted some things up to add a shirt, rezipped it, and we left. However, he left ALL of my things - my two tops, a pair of jeans and all my underthings - on the living room floor.

So I was left with the clothes on my back for 3 days in Switzerland. Have you ever bought clothes in Switzerland? I makes the $20 boxers look cheap! This was 10 years ago and I've never let him forget that one :scared1:

Don't worry, I won't get too obsessed and "overprepare" - it's just a lot of organising to pack for 4 people, and I just don't want to miss anything big because I didn't know to do it. There's a bit less pressure with this cruise as it's so long (we went on a 6 day, and that just seemed like such a rush all the time!)

Am really looking forward to meeting all of you though!

Hello, I am also such a first cruiser.
We have no pre cruise transfer booked. We have a hotel near the Rambla in Barcelona and at the statue of Columbus is a bus stop that brings you to the ships in the port. So we'll take that.
After the cruise we have a transfer booked by DCL to our hotel in WDW.
But I also want to know how that goes.
We have the late diner, but I guess there are more people that are having the transfer to WDW. Are they going disembark at the same time. And how does that get with the customer, it's our first time we going to the us.
We have the esta, but you have to have make fingerprints etc.
I know it's at the end of the cruise, so we have plenty of time to find out, but we want as soon as possible to get to WDW then.

And you are going to Harry Potter I guess. i am jalous, but we do it not this time. I has to wait till we can come back to Florida some time? I hope it will come to Europe.

The statue of Columbus and the Las Ramblas are really closed to cruise terminals. We took a taxi. It's less expensive, but you pay for all you luggage. Take care of you bags. The last time they have warned us, because there are many thieves at the Las Ramblas.

I never used the transportation, but I saw that there were many busses waiting for the guest. We allways rent a car.

Don't forget a copy of your ESTA. You'll need it, when you embark and at the emigration. You save a lot of time, when you'll take it with you!

I never had a problem with the emigration in Florida. They want to see your Passport and your ESTA. The first time we went to the USA they took some fingerprints. It needs only some seconds and your fingers stay clean. Don't be afraid of the emigration. Maybe they'll ask you some questions like what you'll do in the USA and how long you will stay. But they were always very nice.

We are planing to go to Harry Potter this time. But I'm unsure. My daughter will be just 2 years old an I don't know, if she will like it.

So funny story. I bought my pink feather boa's for the Champagne Girls meet a few months ago and they have been sitting in the bottom of my closet in plastic bags. Saturday morning I go in my closet to put laundry away and there is my black and white kitten covered in pink feathers having a blast with my now completly shredded boas. DH and I had a good laugh. Figaro just looks at us like "what, why are you laughing at me". Needless to say it took forever to clean up all the feathers and now I have to buy new ones. I guess I need a new place to put them. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

By the way. I am very happy I got all the shore excursions I wanted and spa appointments. Ladies Tea was completely booked for the 13th though. I guess I will keep trying.

That would've been a good photo op Sue :)

I still have not bought my boa - thanks for reminding me.

When I did my onlin check-in I read, that there shall be 2 mobile phones in the staterooms. Does anybody know, if they are on the Magic too or only on the new ships? Last year they were not there. It would be great, because I hope, we can use them as a babymonitor.

They should be on the Magic. I know many use them very successfully, though not sure about the baby monitor thing.

I do have an 11B already on the Stateroom tour, but thanks for asking.

So far, in our Stateroom Tour I have:

Category 3
Category 5A
Category 7A
Category 9D
Category 11A
Category 11B

I'm missing all the other categories and am still recruiting volunteers!

Karen/ Keri

Hi Karen,

We are in Cat 9A, room# 7512, if you want to add us to the list? :upsidedow

Love the dress. I would definately bring it.

This is something I would do to my DH. To go along with this story my DH left our keys onboard on the Magic EBTA last year. Once we got halfway thru our trip we realized it. Thank goodness we had onstar and an extra set of keys in the car.

Glad you managed to get your excursions etc.

I wouldn't worry about checking for High Tea on the 13th as it is not going to be possible to arrange it that way. I think there are only 2 people that managed to get a booking....

I have one other option which I am trying to arrange, I will update everyone asap.

Yes they are on the Magic, they are called Wave phones. :thumbsup2

I don't know if they would be a substitute for a baby monitor though......how are you thinking of using them?

Hi Rala

Glad to see you on this board! We also have a 2 year old, so I hope to see you in MandyGirl's toddler group!

I don't know if the phones will work like a baby monitor, but I would be very wary going further than the next cabin over using only a phone for listening in on a small child. I keep thinking of the fire that broke out on the Carnival Splendour last year - in case of a fire, there are doors in the hallways that lock down and there's NO WAY to get them open. If there was an emergency, there would be no way to get back to your room and your little one would be stranded.

I'm hopeful that because the ship isn't full, and it is off-season, that there will be lots of space available in the nursery. My daughter will be spending several evenings there, and maybe we can get the little ones together to play sometimes?

Can't wait to meet you!

What's Mandys toddlers group? The nursery do a great job. Léa loved enjoyed her time at the nursery so much. It's a great idea to let the little ones play together. Léa loves to play with other kids. Now I must go to the hospital with her. She feels sick. See you later.
