I was wondering if anyone who is familiar with the $399 photo cd (I think this is what they are calling it) can tell me what comes with this? We haven't cruised DCL since they have done this. Do you get any prints with that or is it just a CD like you would get at the parks if you buy it there? I am just curious and wondering if there is any way that it is worth the price. I love my photos, but this is a lot of money! Thanks for any info! :)

Morning everyone...

All this talk about empty ships & pixie dust & upgrades oh my has me thinking we should go back to the inside cabin ;)

Only on 1 of our cruises have we been upgraded...that was the 2nd one. We didn't know until we'd checked in that we'd been upgraded.

I never thought i'd say this but i'll be disappointed if I do get upgraded.....I want to stay in my side ways cabin with my DIS party pals on Deck 6! :rotfl2:

As someone said ask DCL(or your TA if you used one) to get 'Do not Upgrade' or something on your reservation if you really don't want to be moved.

They might try to get some money out of it and send out offers of paid upgrades. We have had that on 2 cruises we have been on. We didn't take them up on it as we liked where we were.

For what it's worth, most everyone on the August 20th Magic sailing received their stateroom assignments earlier this week. (We will also be on that sailing but we had a 'do not upgrade' room assignment so there was no drama for us on that account.) On the other hand, we have a GTY booking for the WBTA, so we are anxiously awaiting the news and I am guessing we may hear about our room assignment in less than three weeks.

Good luck to everyone in the pixie dust sweepstakes.

Getting closer to the room assignments here then. Someone once told me that there was only one person who did the assignments and obviously they worked in date order. I imagine there are more now though with the extra (big) ship.

We did have lots of construction and painting going on... hope they have it all done now.

what were they repairing/building?! surely they must have it done by now if they started in may?

This nonrefundable, pay-now and you-can't change Restricted GTY category is new to DCL. I imagine they are trying it out to see if it flies or not. We'll see if situations like yours arise too often for them to keep offering it or not. I was very surprised that it was available so far in advance; I thought they were going to offer them starting about 75 days out. :confused3

i'm not surprised that its offered so far out. if you think about it, by the time you get to 75 days, you're already in penalty period, and you need to pay in full when booking anyway, so offering it then makes no real sense. if you offer it further out, you lock people into paying that price.

one person?! that must have been a huge job, even with only two ships!
well if mr/mrs lovely kind generous wonderful upgrade person reads the dis, you do an awesome job, keep up the good work, and we love you, wink wink nudge nudge.......:thumbsup2:rotfl2:

You get all your photos from the entire trip of people in YOUR stateroom along with a copywrite release so you can have as many prints made as you like. Additionally, our experience has been - any photos you buy after that (on the same trip) from DCL were half price. There are NO freebies of stock photos like you can sometimes get on photopass.

So Liesbeth, do you make your own chutney? If so, I would be interested in the recipe - I've been doing some canning lately as a new hobby.

.

A friend of my makes the chutney and together we make our snacks for celebrations etc. And the blue cheese with the chutney is a favorite one.
I shall ask her the recipe and give it to you.

No, you can ask your stateroom host to get you some. Although my cousin brought a pair of travel wine glasses last trip that I thought were cute - the stems screwed off and stored inside the bowls for packing.

We just ask our room steward for glasses every night. On the first night we just asked for a wine opener which we kept for the rest of the cruise.

Another option, besides those mentioned, is to pop by any bar and ask for some glasses...they are always accommodating & it works well when you don't want to wait until you see your room host. We do that or call room service for glasses through out the cruise
.

Thanks all for the info' :thumbsup2 :disrocks:

I think I might have the solution to all the glass queries :)

Sorry folks - try this one :rolleyes1

Ok fish extender people. I want to make sure I counted right,we signed up for all groups and got a count of 59 rooms total. If someone else is doing all the groups can you verify you got the same number. Thanks cindy

I just checked my spreadsheet and I've got 58. MiddleofAmerica has 2 cabins, but it's one family - parents and young children - across the 2, so I put them on my list as one. Oh, and don't forget - don't count yourself, unless you're giving yourself a FE gift. ;)

Did you double-count someone who is on multiple lists? Check the FE doc on the google site for highlighted names. Those are the multiple list people.

It is strictly the CD, no prints, but purchasing it does allow you to buy any pic packages at a discount....25%, I think (?), maybe more.

Those I know who've enjoyed getting it made sure they had their pic taken at every turn, so that they did end up with a lot!!

We use the TravelEx option. Whatever you don't use they will buy back. Great for purchases but don't use for hotel or car rental. Here is there link: TravelEx

Hi Noel,

How do you use it? I see it is just like a credit card? Would I buy Euros, dollars? What did you buy? I'm a little confused. Nothing new there, ha ha ha :confused3:confused3

First up; welcome to the newbees!

For those participating in the candy swap; we're now up to 18 staterooms and 46 participants! If there is any desire for a cut off at 20 staterooms or 50 participants per group, this is the time to speak up and I'll soon start a second group if signing ups keep pooring in.

FE; also got 58 staterooms in my paperwork.

It took it's fine time and where I got nowhere, my dad just simply managed to arrange my operation date. Same employee, same story, I got nowhere and constantly got the run around. He calls once, does the same appeal of it being labeled emergency and the cruise coming dangerously close by now and lo and behold; within an hour he has it all arranged!:wizard: :worship: Apparently even grown women sometimes need their daddies to make small miracles happen. Anyway, coming wednesday I need to sign in, on thursday I'll get the tube placed and should be released on friday if all goes well. With only 8 weeks to recover it'll be tight, but a lot better than what I started to fear by now. Carefully starts to look like there is no need to drag me down to the port. ;)

App. they've got free internet hook ups, so I'll be spending lots of time on the DIS wednesday. A lot better than hanging around doing nothing. ;) It'll be an interesting week, for sure. Dad will have an operation on the 13th so poor mom is a bit left out (family full of crutches, she's awaiting her own operation :lmao: ). At least thank god for proper taxi services. I'll have to lug along my own mattrass to the hospital and obviously this time dad can't help me unlock it, roll it up and pack it, let alone drag all of that stuff along. "No problem, don't worry, we'll have your driver show up a little early and he'll help you where needed" according to the taxi company. Ah, good old proper service. :thumbsup2:goodvibes

all the best for the op. will be keeping everything crossed for you :)

On a completely unrelated topic......

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up that has a food allergy to artificial sweetner, please make sure to let your server know and be VERY careful of the dessert buffet. My DH gets migraines from the stuff and on the first cruise he told the server who helped him out but we didn't think about it at the dessert buffet. We avoided the table labeled sugar free but didn't know that just because the rest of the items were not labeled as such, some of them used at least partial artificial sweetner and he woke up with a severe migraine the next day. Luckily we have medicine to help that and was better within an hour or two but I don't want anyone else to have the same situation.

On our EBTA last year we told our server who was the best. DH would order a dessert that was not in the sugar free section and our server would come out with something else. Now the first couple of times it happened we were confused but he explained that the dessert my DH ordered used some of the sweetner so he brought what he thought he would like and could have. And he was almost always right. By the end my DH just told him to bring out whatever he wanted. We avoided the Dessert Buffet for his sake (at least this year I will have people to go with to help sample some of it) :goodvibes

We'd rather not have to lug it around. To me, not having to screw with the luggage is worth that $70.

Just put the luggage in the trunk of the car or if you don't want to do that, the MCO airport is on the way from Canaveral to WDW, so actually you could drive the rental to the airport, checkin for your flight, drop your luggage and then get back in the car & drive to DTD.

A friend of my makes the chutney and together we make our snacks for celebrations etc. And the blue cheese with the chutney is a favorite one.
I shall ask her the recipe and give it to you.

Thanks! That is very sweet of you :flower3: I have a conversion chart so I can get the right measurements here.

I am so glad that you were able to get the operation that you needed in time. We will all be thinking of you next Wednesday - please keep us posted & let us know how it goes.
