On our med cruise last week, it was Captain Marco, from Italy. Silver haired chap and certainly not balding, so they must have had a changeover between the end of the EBTA and us joining on 8th June.

He was a lovely chap, Italian and was never out of Palo, we joked that had they moved the bridge to the other end of the ship :rotfl2: The palo staff reckon he just loves their home cooking :lmao:

He was quite handsome and charming, he was chatting to DD on disembarking the ship for an excursion.

If they've had a recent changeover, then he may still be on for the WBTA.

He has only recently joined DCL, having worked for Carnival for 10 years

On the EBTA it was capt. John...

A few people asked me to check which films were on the Magic during our med cruise. Fantastic selection, but we kept missing some good ones due to all the long port days :sad2:

They were:-

I am Number Four
Mars needs Moms
Tangled
Tron Legacy
The Princess and the frog
Toy Story 3
Gnomeo & Juliet
Disney Nature - African Cats
Prom
POTC 4 on stranger tides
Disney's behind the scenes

Cars 2 is out on 22nd July, so that's one to look forward to :cool1:

I am hoping that they are still playing Tron Legacy & Gnomeo & Juliet on the WBTA as I really want to see those :)

I believe Winnie the Pooh comes out in theatres next month, as well.

Thanks for the reply, I did fly over Noel's post, well not really, just didn't get that far before my fingers started typing. I think I would be better off paying to check an extra bag if I think I will need. Who am I kidding, I think I am already in trouble with weight and I haven't even gotten a suitcase out yet.

You just read my mind. I was going to email Hotel and ask about that. I am staying at Renaissance and I thought that might be possible. Do you recall about what the cost was? I know it depends on weight and where its shipped from, but just wondered what to expect.

You must go by weight. I can ship a 50lb suitcase w/o insurance through Luggage Forwarders for $281. 25lbs would have been $168. I ONLY shipped used clothing as I was worried FE gifts might not make it through customs.

Perhaps Zazzle already has had some dealings with Disney's legal department. Other companies might not know......as yet!!

Noel did reply, but as it was to my post you probably flew over it!!;) She said.

"It is not cheap to ship to Barcelona. Cost me over $200 to ship 25 pounds to our hotel in Barcelona. I would check prices with UPS or Fed Ex from your location based on weight. Most hotels will take a delivery if you are checking in within a few days in my experience.":worship:

I only did it because I didn't want to bothered by the extra bag on the way there. I am sure you must have seen my bags on the way home. Not pretty!!

If not, here they are:

......... TEA & GROUP PALO BRUNCH ........

Those who want to book tea and aren't getting a slot: Tea only has one seating and they only utilize the tables along the window; they don't fill the room anywhere near capacity and there's no turnover of tables or staggered seating.

Here's one of our photos with the beautiful view from the window table at high tea :)

I am feeling pleased with myself today... I have now managed to lose 1 st 2lbs .... but it's taken me over 2 mths to do so:). But I just bet it won't take me that long to put it back on once I'm on the cruise. Never mind will just have to keep trying to lose some more :rotfl2::rotfl2: sometimes ladies life is just one long diet.... or that's what it feels like !

margaret

Well done Margaret, that's brilliant, keep up the good work :)

Next time you see this door Claire ... :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo:

Our room on our med cruise was only a couple of doors away from the sideways cabins :cool1:

that's us got 14 names the maximum to try for private room at palo, will send fax asap : )

The dining times on the ebta & med were 6pm & 8:30pm....even though it was listed on the KTTW cards as 5:45 & 8:15 :confused3

The Navigator & announcements reinforced the times, but it took everyone a while to figure it out...lol

So sorry, I believe it was Captain John, but my memory is failing me there...:confused3

Very pleasant, balding fellow with a bit of a dead pan report...if that helps at all!!

Nop, but then again I know none of them by the combination of name/face. :rotfl2: Only thing I DO know is that there are (or used to be?) 2 Dutch captains working for DCL.

Hmm, so we have either John or Marco at this moment. If we don't get thrown in a surprise and end up with a totally new captain. Reason I asked? I read that name somewhere on the DIS, Marco. It just happens that my dad has the same name. He (dad) collects hats. We bring him back one from all kinds of trips, he gets them gifted and never tends to buy any. Has a roomceiling full of them. :rolleyes1 He used to love his hat that said "captain" and worn in to pieces 24/7 both at home and on his own little tub. Long story short, for this trip his ultime dream still is to get a replacement for the one he had to throw out. As he considers getting him a custom made cheating (yeah long story, man with a mind of his own.....) that is a nice challenge and has been for quite a few years. Only exception he makes is if he gets an official captains hat and unfortunately knows what they look like after being in the navy and sailing for so long afterwards.

Then I read that DCL has a captain Marco. Chances shall be below zero, I'm going to give it a shot anyway if we do end up finding captain Marco on our cruise. Who knows, maybe he has an old retired one lying around and could do an amazingly huge move of pixiedust :wizard: for dad.

Oh and after reading a topic on the mainboard and being reminded again how little known this thing is; attention all that are bringing along any medications on this trip!!!!! OK, sorry for the huge and bright, but this really has to be said. Please make sure you find out what the laws and legislations are of Spain and each and all other countries where you will set foot on land with your medication, if you can legally carry said medication! You can find some countries requiring you to have paperwork on you, have the meds in the original packaging etc. etc. Some meds that are legal in your country might not be legal in any situation in other countries. This can include over the counter medication. It's too little known, but get your facts straight on this one before travelling with your meds! This can also applies to any meds you might be bringing back home, both bought/prescribed during the trip and your own medication you brought from home, exported and want to import when coming back home again.

Checks on this are not 100% and only done every once and then but you will not want to risk not having your ducks in a row when you do get checked. This is a subject that leaves very little, if any, room for "oops". It can turn real ugly fast if you do not follow the letter of the law, nevermind if you did so with good intent.

On the EBTA it was capt. John...

Thanks for verifying that, Jill! I was doubting my memory....:upsidedow

Sounds like Capt. John got off with those of us who disembarked on the 8th! It will be interesting to see who is still there this time.

Personally, I'm hoping for some new movies!!!!! popcorn::

Okay, I posted about Group Palo Lunch 14 hours ago - and now you've got a full list? That is some organization.

I have great faith that you will get the private room. And it is so much more fun than dining alone. While we are sailing, you can go to Palo and see if they have any empty tables for another day for a second brunch and have your alone time if you need it.

Mum of 4 say no more : )

auntlynne iv been wondering where u are all day !! It kinda esculated pretty quick after I replied to your post, so I went with it, hope you don't mind, all on the list are us new cruisers who couldn't get a palo brunch booking.

I long as we get in once for brunch I don't mind if it's a big gang or alone : ))

I've just been looking through my navigators from our cruise and had a quick glance at the opening hours on the back page.

The Beat Street Bar opening times are:-

Diversions 5 pm
Rockin Bar D 7 pm
Sessions 5 pm

That only leaves us with:-

Signals (cove pool bar) 10 am
Pluto's (mickey pool bar) which I presume is also 10 am
Promenade Lounge 9 am

To be honest, I have never really been past the Promenade Lounge in the daytime, especially to buy alcohol, so I didn't know if that would be an option for the afternoon pub crawl. Maybe some other repeat cruisers may be able to comment.

I think the pub/game room bar (is it Diversions?) is open during the day. I know on the EBTA we had beers and played foosball in there well before 5pm.

A few people asked me to check which films were on the Magic during our med cruise. Fantastic selection, but we kept missing some good ones due to all the long port days :sad2:

I am Number Four

I am hoping that they are still playing Tron Legacy & Gnomeo & Juliet on the WBTA as I really want to see those :)

While I remember, there is a new evening show in the Walt Disney Theatre called "The Art of the Story" I won't say much to spoil it, but it is musical and involves some of the Disney classic films, characters and songs. It was great :thumbsup2. Once upon a song was on again for this summer, but we missed it due to a long port day. Looking forward to seeing that again on the WBTA :lovestruc

Of those 11 films, I've only seen 4 of them! And I call myself a Disney fan!! Thank you so much for reporting. Hoping to catch a lot of movies on this cruise. popcorn:: I also hope that Gnomeo & Juliet is still on the roster.

Okay, I posted about Group Palo Lunch 14 hours ago - and now you've got a full list? That is some organization.

Come on Lynne! I am not AT ALL surprised
