My adult son and I will be cruising with you all. Please add Karen and Kevin to the list. He is indeed my "dear son", but could you list our ages as "over 21" rather than being specific. I don't think either of us want to admit our ages!

I haven't read the entire board, but it sure seems like there will be a great many nice people on the cruise.

We are not big on organized activities, but we really like being around friendly folks.

I have been on many cruises in the Caribbean, but I have never attempted a crossing before. The idea of packing for such a long time freaks me out, but I am already getting excited about being on the ship for 14 days.

I look forward to meeting everyone,
Karen

Welcome aboard Karen and Kevin .... we are Sarah and Tony from Wales on our 2nd WBTA. We loved it so much the first time.

We worry about packing too because we have such strict baggage restrictionbs on our short-haul flights to get to Barcelona. My plan is to take enough general clothing ( day wear /' underwear etc ) for a week and use the laundry once half way through. That saves on your baggage allowance for the other items you need to bring. :thumbsup2

I have some news to share. Lee had a second interview today for a job that he really wanted, I didn't mention it before as I didn't want to jinx it but.......he got it!!!!!

congrats to lee! amazing news!

Hello,
I am new here and my son and I are going on this cruise. How can I join this group?
Do I have to fill in the form on the 2011 WBTA website?
I can't pm you, because I have not enough posts.
Thanks,
Liesbeth Bakker (the Netherlands)

welcome aboard :)

oooohhh.... good news. Lets just hope there are some slots left in 14 days!
Did you book everything in Palo Marilyn?

does anyone know when booking dates are for silver CC members?

John finished the pin card art so I thought I would share it with you guys. Pin will look just like our logo

amazing artwork noel and john :)

The only auction was a silent auction of Ducky's prints as the gallery people are gone.

does anyone else see the departure of the auction people as not a huge loss?! :rotfl:

There is someone here who is booked on Deck 1. I think it is Melanie. Well this is what someone said who has just returned from the EBTA,

"I was worried about staying deck one with the small portholes...I was concerned that there would not be enough light let in. Well, we loved the location (mid ship) and connecting rooms! The kids enjoyed being so close to the water...the sun would reflect off the ocean onto the ceiling and make patterns. Midship was perfect for my MIL and it was super easy to get her an elevator on deck one. Such a quiet location and less creaking in the room overall. Seemed to be less "wear and tear" in the room as well. My DH adored being on a lower deck, I doubt we will ever book a verandah room again!"

great to hear that, i'm booked in a 9D GTY so at the very least i know that deck one isnt that bad!

My adult son and I will be cruising with you all. Please add Karen and Kevin to the list. He is indeed my "dear son", but could you list our ages as "over 21" rather than being specific. I don't think either of us want to admit our ages!

Hi Karen, welcome to you and Kevin. We are Marilyn and John, and I think are similar in that we aren't big on organises events, but do love walking around the ship and chatting with fellow friendly Dis'ers. We did the cruise last year and know you will love it!

Well with all the great FE gifts, lanyards, pin, scrapbook bits...etc, we'll be giving and receiving, who needs all the that overpriced merchandise anyway.;)

SW

Very good point!!! So very true too.:thumbsup2

oh and just wanted to say i'm disappointed in you guys ;) - i go away for 4 days and you're still on part three!! :rotfl: was expecting at least a few pages of part 4 already!

on a different note - just got back from my charity walk in dorset. despite honestly thinking a few times that i was going to die on a cliff top in lulworth, i'm really glad i did it, and between the whole group, we've so far raised £23,500 for great ormond street.

:worship: Well done to you & the team that is fantastic.

My negative post of the day. I hope we aren't going to be having a second class experience on this WBTA. Quite a few of us on January's PC cruise on the Wonder felt that went through that then. We all enjoyed it of course. But......!

Why do you think that Maz?

Yes I'm in the dungeons :rotfl2: Sounds fab, I'm really happy to be there :thumbsup2

That is a fantastic amount of money. Well done x :thumbsup2

Question of a sensitive nature.

As we are unable to open port hole windows how do we get rid of bad smells? :rotfl:

Sorry to let you down Karen :confused:

Well done on the walk aswell ... that is an amazing amount to ahve raised in your group. Do you have a Just Giving page or anything as if it's not too late I will send a donation. Well done :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Not too bothered by the departure of the auctions, but I did like looking at all the artwork and chatting to the artists when they were on board. In fact DD spent almost her whole cruise chatting to the Disney artists on our first trip ... it was a standing joke that she was stalking them. It is her dream to be a concept artist for Disney, so she wa thrilled to have such an opportunity.

thanks sarah, its all going to an amazing cause.
we were actually stopped in weymouth by a family whose son is being treated at GOSH, it really brought it all home to us how important the whole thing was and how proud we were to have been a part of it

The free champagne was good,,,so what will they do with that space?

I thought I read over on the general cruise board that DCL had taken over so perhaps they are still in the process of organising that???

Why do you think that Maz?

Well Krisann put my mind at rest, and of course the Magic is the best. Can't wait to be back on board her.

I thought you would like to see what someone thought of Deck 1. You still might get an upgrade though which would be nice too!!!!;)

Wow, so many posts to catch up on! I have to say I get a little intimidated when I see so many pages added to the thread in one day!

Very happy for everyone who got the reservations they wanted! :flower3: We are a little nervous about booking ours in advance on the 12th, but we booked onboard last year and it all worked out.

Has anyone booked the Petit Palace Museum hotel in Barcelona? I ask b/c we stayed there a few weeks ago and I can recommend it. The shower has like 4 shower heads so it is pretty cool.

Does anyone who is decorating their door have it all worked out yet? I am deciding between a few different themes - Rapunzel, UP or Nemo. There is great art on the disney websites.

How do you typically make your magnets? Do you have them printed or do you print them yourself?

Hello everyone - we are still have not booked this cruise yet but did place 2 dummy cruises on the EBTA so I have it for this cruise if we get to go. I hope no one minds if I hang out at this point because I really think we will be coming.

We got home late saturday night from the EBTA and it was great once again. There were some changes from last years EBTA and I will be comparing my navigators to see.

One change I did not like is that the merchandise for the TA was crappy - the only things they had were T-shirt, magnet, postcard and pin. They also did away with the keepsake menu this year - we still had the transatlantic menu - just not dated and it was the same as last year just without the dates.

Ducky was on our cruise again, but will not be on the WBTA - so that makes me sad.

The gifts we got was a Ducky print and a travel valet.

Any other questions? (and I am not sure if anyone else on here was on the EBTA this year too, I have not gone back to read yet - so if i am repeating I am sorry)

Krisann

Hi Krisann,

I remember you from the EBTA last year! It would be great to sail w/ you again :)

Welcome home Liz, glad you had a nice time. :goodvibes

Thanks Claire! It was a great vacation and now I can really throw myself into this Sept. one. We still haven't booked our hotel yet.

Or some lovely deodorant :rolleyes1

The free champagne was good,,,so what will they do with that space?

I for one do not miss them at all - now the area is still a "gallery" but all that it is is the one wall where the paintings hang on the side Studio Sea is. in front of the windows are nice benches to sit on to look at the paintings that are there. All the paintings that are there are available for purchase through Disney. Oh and the navigational chart is now in that area instead of outside treasure ketch.

How do you typically make your magnets? Do you have them printed or do you print them yourself?

Hi Krisann,

I remember you from the EBTA last year! It would be great to sail w/ you again :)

I have my magnets printed as I have a small printing company and can design them easily and the cost is not too much for me - the only thing is that they are just rectangle but they work. I made ones for the WBTA last year that I used as FE gifts.

I hope to sail with you again. we loved doing both the EBTA and WBTA last year and hope to do it again this year!

Krisann

Welcome aboard Karen and Kevin!! We are Noel and John and this will be our 5th cruise on DCL. Our last cruise was the 2010 WBTA so if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask or PM me.

Hopefully, a group of DISers will volunteer to underwrite the lanyards as they did last year so they will be free to the rest of the DISers. We already have several people offering to be part of the lanyard underwriting group. If you wish to join, please send Noel (Birkner) a PM. If we get enough members, the cost should be $10 or less per member.

Price will be approximately $7 per t-shirt, and sizes range from Youth XS (size 2) to Youth XL; Adult S to Adult 4XL.

08. If you are interested in participating in a Mickey Mouse Club night, please check out this Mickey Mouse club post. Plans are to do this event on Monday September 19 at both early and late seating dinners. We will all wear our Mickey Mouse shirts and ears!!

09. I am thinking of organizing the same tour I did last year in Madeira. Here is the Madeira link to a PDF file that gives more information about the 2010 tour. If you are interested, please send Noel (birkner) a PM.

10. We are also going to do a Champagne Girls meet. The Champagne Girls event originated on the WBPC cruise in 2008.
