Hi everyone!

We are joining you, and are all really excited! I'm still working on my post count so I can PM the leaders of this board to be added to the list, but in the meantime... count us in!

We signed up last July, but I just found DISboards and love the sense of community you've already achieved before this sailing - it sounds like you've all known each other for years!

So, we are Dawn and Steve, from Scotland. This is our first Disney cruise and our first TA, although we've sailed with Carnival 4 times and RCI once.

We have two children - Calum will be 6 and Eilidh will be 2 years + 4 months. Calum's counting the days already, and talks about meeting Mickey on the ship all the time. Eilidh (pronounced AY-Lee) is that fun age that's just a bit too young for the kids clubs but will probably be bored in the nursery.

I'd love to contact some of the families with little ones under 3 - we should set up some play mornings (unless this has already been done and I'm just late). We've met some great families on board cruises before, but it would be really neat to get to know people in advance.

I see Tod & Copper and Binkytell are also from Scotland - anyone else from here? I'm Canadian as well, and I saw lots of maple leaf flags about on here :)

So, that's us - I've got tons of reading to do to get us caught up. Only 4 more months!

All my best
Dawn

:welcome: We are Leanne, DH Ken, DD Morgan (she'll be 9 by the cruise). We are Canadians, but we live in Ukraine. We are from a town close to Calgary, Alberta. This is actually our first cruise ever, so we're pumped! My parents are joining us for the cruise so we'll be on first dining, as DM can't eat late.

Well it was something like an episode of Cops here last night.........

We had someone break into our house whilst we were IN!!! :scared1: They were hiding out, I assume waiting for us to go to bed so he could rob us. I have never been so scared in all my life, Lee detained the *@/?>~*! whilst I called the police. The police were fab & arrived within five minutes and arrested him, we then had three hours worth of taking statements, photos etc.

Have to wait to hear from them today to see if they need to come and take finger prints etc......

Who needs sleep, eh? We gto to bed after 2am and I didn't sleep a wink after all that!!!

WOW!! So glad to hear you are all fine. I can't imagine how scarey that must have been. :scared1: Way to go Lee for your bravery!! It's hard to believe your dogs didn't hear him and bark or something. DH and DD went to the post office not that long ago, and some dummy ran straight towards DD and our dog bit him.

Our middle son just got a job as well. He learned to be a radiology tech in the Army and has been looking for a job in the field for a year and a half. Even though it is a temporary job and part-time, his foot is in the door and we are SO thankful. :yay::yay:

Congratulations to your son! :cheer2:

Yes, we were on the cruise together. As soon as you posted, I knew exactly who you were (even though you changed your avatar from Beauty & the Beast dancing). Funny how Rapunzel reminds me of you. At the EBTA, I went over and talked to your husband, who was just sitting on the sidelines, as you said he would be. Nice to see that he enjoys cruising with you, despite your association with all of us goobs. :goodvibes

I haven't gotten the Weekly Recap done, as this week my sister and I flew out to California to visit my niece.

Just like Monica's (mishoe) sister, I have been to Wal-Mart and also to Target. No exotic shopping out here, just needed some necessities.

Visited the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley, Santa Barbara (beautiful), and up to Solvang (the town is an old-fashioned Danish village). My niece is in law school at Pepperdine U in Malibu, so we've seen a bit of that, as well. Tomorrow is the Getty Museum, Friday afternoon - Sunday is Catalina Island, and then I'm off to Phoenix to meet my DB and SIL for another week of vacation.

(FYI: DB = dear brother, SIL = sister-in-law)

Hi Lynne, How wonderful that we'll meet again on this cruise! Yes my husband loves Disney, but he's not so much in love w/ the community as I am...its just not his thing - I'm the resident social butterfly of the house:butterfly

Your trip to California sounds wonderful! Do you feel like you're in Soarin? lol.
Catalina is so pretty, I am jealous. How is the weather there this time of year?

My first trip to CA was just last year (on a cruise of course!) and I loved it. I wouldn't mind doing one of the DCL pacific coastal itineraries!

Well I was in the lounge with the dogs watching tv whilst Lee was doing a bit of painting in the Kitchen, he had the radio on listening to the football. Lee heard a bang but just thought it was one of the dogs charging around with a toy and carried on painting. We obviously now know that was him kicking our back door in and hiding in our lean-to which connects to the kitchen....he must have seen Lee in the kitchen at this point and hid in the lean-to until we found him about 30 mins later....the one & only time I will ever be grateful that Lee spilt some paint as he had to go in the lean-to to get an old cloth to clear it up which is when he found him!

What kept me awake all night is the fact that if Lee hadn't found him he could have got into the house through our dog flap and then who knows what could have happened......

Thank you all, we are both fine.

Lee is at home with me today as i'm a bit jumpy and we need to wait for the CID to come out and take fingerprints on the door etc.

OMG Claire! That is so scary :scared1::scared1::scared1: Bless your heart.
Your husband is a hero! I hope you both can sleep better tonight.

:banana::banana:Hi welcome Dawn Steve Calum and Eilidh:welcome:

It will be good to meet you, what ever our age with disney there's something for everyone:). We are margaret and norman, traveling without our children having found disney late in life !. We are leaving my DD and DS age 17 and 22 at home..... I'm sure I'll start to panic about that nearer the time:teacher:

This is set to be a great cruise:woohoo: it will only be our second, but the vibes are good, and it's soooo exciting.:welcome:

QUOTE=Chirpee;40724043]Hi Margaret, the spin bikes don't have cycle shoe clips, just need to wear regular trainers/running shoes.

That's a shame, but I won't let that spoil my fun:yay: thanks

I feel like I haven't been on here in forever! Driving me NUTS! Between dealing with the hail storm stuff and tons of tutoring, I'm lucky to get any down time. And the house... in-laws arrive Friday morning and I know I can't blame the mess on the inside on the hail! :rotfl2:

You can always say the house is coming out in sympathy with what's been going on outside:thumbsup2 and you have had rather a lot to deal with

Glad you had a nice time! And don't worry about the English. I'll try to show you my Dutch sometime.

Yes I don't think you need to worry, your english is better than mine:):):)

OMG hope you are not worried about that..... sounds like you are having an action packed time...... it's so nice to catch up with family, sometimes I feel life marches on at such a pace that the basic and most important things can get left behind:thumbsup2

Well it was something like an episode of Cops here last night.........

OMG :sad2::sad2: Claire and Lee we are so glad you are both ok, but still a big shock which is bound to shake you up for a while, and you must try not to think what if.
It's good the police arrived in good time. And I hope that action against this person is followed. There are times when actions are dropped because crimes have been stopped in there tracks. You have one brave husband, but lets hope this man got more of a shock at being discovered as Lee had. We wish you both surpport at this time
margaret and norman

Does anyone know why my multi quote replies look a bit mixed up with the quotes... mind you I should be amazed I've managed to turn on the computer!!

Thank you all for your messages.

I've just had the Police call with an update that he has been interviewed and said that he was homeless and looking for somewhere to sleep, his solicitor has told him not to say anything else.....well they know he is lying as his fingerprints match another burglary, so he is well and truely screwed. They said he would have had accomplices nearby, so he was definately hiding waiting for us to go to bed. I don't think i'll ever sleep again.

It is going to court so we now have to sit and wait....she also told me to congratulate Lee as he has a nice big shiner on his eye.

Looks like you are deleting the final [/QUOTE] off the quoted part. It needs that in there.

I'll give you the heads up on what is still available at the 105 day point when I have booked all mine :lmao: I'll be booking a dinner and brunch, saving the High Tea option for my potential Ladies High Tea :thumbsup2 as Stevie's not too bothered. I'll do my usual 5 am rise to get my ressies :rotfl2:

Crikey Claire that is apalling .. you must have been so scared. And Lee must be so brave - the %$*@: could have had a weapon or something :scared1:
Why are there so many low-lives in the world who think they have the rights to enter your property :mad::mad::mad: Hopefully they will throw the book at him !!

On the plus side .... more men in kilts !!!!

Most definitely :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Claire - I'm so sorry to hear what happened. Thank heavens you are ok!

So, men in kilts... are any of the other Scottish men going to wear one? My husband and son will be in theirs.

If past cruises are anything to go by, I could walk throught the ship naked and no one would notice because they are all looking at the boys :confused3

3Canadianslovedisney - where near Calgary? My Dad grew up in Canmore, and we used to be related to half of Banff :flower3:

My parents joined us for a cruise last time round and they loved it! I wish I could talk them into joining us on this one, but it's too far a flight for them.

gary wont have his, our luggage allowance just wont allow it! plus he hasnt got his own so will have to rent one, might as well just rent a tux onboard, that way we wont have to worry about carrying all that extra kilt weight!

:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

My DH will be wearing his for the 2 formal nights with his bow tie, and again on semi-formal with his ruche tie, it's worth taking when he gets to use it 3 times.

Last year my DH and BIL got so much attention it was crazy. Some American ladies 60+ wanted to lift them up to see what was underneath :lmao: We said it wasn't appropriate, it was a Disney family cruise :rotfl:

that sounds really scary, hope you're both ok, and that justice prevails in the end

:worship::worship::worship: to lee!! well done! (i know you shouldnt condone violence, but if someone breaks into your house, i personally think they left their human rights at the door and should get whatevers coming to them)

:thumbsup2

OMG that's awful!! Good job to Lee, and i'm glad everyone is ok!! I had someone break into my apartment while I was in college, while I was sleeping. Luckily, I had my bedroom door locked so when he went to come in (I thought he was the maintenance guy) and I got out of bed to open the door he ran away.

Thank you all for your messages.

:surfweb: This is more interesting than an episode of any cop show you can name! OMG, I would be terrified! But it would probably be me who would haul off and slug the guy (and I'm completely non-violent...on a normal day!). My DD lives in an apt. complex, so I worry about her safety (of course); however, I have always said I pity the poor person who attempts to attack her :rolleyes1...he would rue the day! She's the most laid-back, nice person you'd ever meet anywhere, but she can certainly take care of herself :cheer2:::yes:: :darth: . Now, if there's a weapon involved, the story might be different. Thank goodness your burglar was unarmed. I'm sure this is a one-time thing, but I know it will take a very long time to feel secure again. Maybe a cruise would help....:dance3:!

I have shown Sarah your pics, and told her our neighbor nextdoor is one of the guys in the picture. She still gets the confused look, but I think it is soooo neat when children get exposed to all the uniqueness the world has to offer! :thumbsup2

Sarah---hope you feel better soon.:grouphug:

I've been sorting a heaping pile of papers from the sale of my mom and dad's house and misc. stacks that seem to grow out of nowhere. I did put on Tangled DVD so I could sing while I work. Just  that movie. Saw it twice on the PC cruise in 3D. Next up, Beauty and the Beast.........we're replacing our old VHS copies with Blue Rays.....:cool1:

Sunny day here in California; had some rain yesterday but it wasn't much.

Back to work..........:laundy: too.
