Found a banoffee pie recipe and tried it. My crust came out a little crumbly (I'm so not a baker) and I think my toffee would've been better if I had used a double boiler, but...

That was yummy! I threw in a few semi-sweet chocolate chips, too (sorry, but it's just not dessert unless chocolate is involved). I was a very good girl and only had a small piece so it didn't completely trash the diet for the day - which also means it'll go a lot farther. If I get too tempted, I can always give it to Dennis to take to work.

Hey now... I kept the phone IN my purse! ;) And I do remember it was Genesis ch 2 :thumbsup2 And really... all those people reading the scripture from their iPhone... I at least had The Book open in my lap :)

Well, as the phone says, "no temptation has seized you except what is common to man."

Glad to know you can reign in your focus - especially as the mother of two small children :thumbsup2

Of course, we might need to get a group together in a room sometime in the next six months and address some issues = maybe our need for champagne and see how much temptation we can stand.

John and I were amazed today to see our next door neighbors house is now completely demolished and the pool is drained. They did not even tell us they were demolishing the house only indicated they were doing some major "remodeling". The construction people are working 7 days a week starting at 8 AM. Today was the day all the huge construction dumpsters came as they were demolishing the house.

The family bought the house last August for 2.5 million cash (heard from the neighbor who sold the house) and has 6 kids, 3 of which are triplets with a stay-at-home Mom. The Dad is a CFO for a major tech company and must be raking in the dough. Who knows where they have moved to as they never even mentioned any of this to us.

Guess just goes to show you that some people are doing well in this terrible economy.

Hi All

My DH Tony and myself, Jane have recently signed up for this cruise, thanks to our good friends Mary (Todd&Copper) and StevieKay (not that we needed much persuading :)) This will be our fourth Disney Cruise but our first cruise without the kids :yay:
After taking most of the afternoon to catch up on this thread I can see that you are all a chatty bunch and look forward to joining in the chat before meeting you all in September. :grouphug:
Better go and update my ticker now :dance3:

Jane

Welcome to the WBTA. We are Sandy and Tony from California :welcome:

Competition for best-dressed heats up - looks like somebody out there will need to be wearing a dress for the first time since her wedding day...

:rotfl2: Nope that won't sway me.

Hi and welcome to our select band of happy cruisers!!! We are Marilyn and John from the North of England and this will be our 8th cruise.:dance3:

Goodness me Noel, I bet that did surprise you. Are you able to just knock down a house over there? You have to get all sorts of permissions here. I agree that some people(?bankers;)) still have lots of money to spare!!

Hi and Welcome!! We are Leanne, DH Ken and DD Morgan, also my parent Ted and Dorothy. This is our first ever cruise (for all of us), and we are super excited. My parents live in Canada and we live in Ukraine. We're actually doing this cruise to get home and my parents are joining us.

I found myself with a drifting mind during the sermon at church today thinking "I wonder how many pages of posts I have missed this morning" :rotfl2: but abstained from sneaking out the phone to read....

 :rotfl:

We might need to do an Intervention.

:rotfl2:

Good job! I use my iPod touch because I can have both English and Russian going. It helps for the words I still don't know! :thumbsup2

Hi there, we are Mary and Stevie from Scotland :rotfl::rotfl:

Only joking, fancy meeting you here :cool1:

:welcome: keeping our fingers crossed for some major partying party:

We are doing a Med Cruise that leaves out of Venice April 29th for 12 nights on Holland America. The ship looks gorgeous. I can't wait I am so excited. My DH is making me ship WDW in 2012 also. I don't know if I will survive. Maybe I can talk him into DL CA.

Hope your job situation is sorted out quickly and painlessly and you get to keep your job. I work for the NHS too and in our trust 3 hospitals have merged and a lot of the managerial / admin staff have had to reapply for their own jobs. It's a nightmare.

Your son will need an ESTA by the way. Everyone does who enters the USA, it is a replacement for the old VISA waiver forms.

I am not planning to visit WDW in 2012 either ... but I have heard that one before :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I really want to do a cruise which involves Venice and I would love to do it on the Magic, but if the Magic doen't come to the Med we may ( those of delicate constitution please look away now ) do a Med cruise with another cruise line :scared1::scared1::scared1: If the Magic starts cruising out of New York we may change plans copmpletely !! I also want to go back to Disneyland Paris maybe in 2012.

Going back to the shoe obsession quite a few posts back. I bought 4 new pairs of sandals for the two cruises I am going on this summer. Not a huge fan of shoes, but love love love sandals. Too bad I live in New Jersey and only get to use them a few months out of the year. Bought a new pair of black heels too. DH paid for them but doesn't know it yeat. Ha ha ha. OK have to stop shopping now, it's bad bad bad when more money goes out than comes in. Hope to keep my job a while longer. Maybe I can save for a Fantasy cruise in 2012. Time break out the "Disney Fund" change jar.

thankyou to everyone for the birthday wishes:wizard:
i had a magical weekend for my 40th :scared1: (i demand a recount) birthday and mothers day, i had my 4 children all together which doesnt happen very often as they are always so busy.

When the dresses arrive I will take photos ... I can't seem to copy photos off Ebay for some reason :confused3 Yes .... I waiting until the last 5 seconds and did it through a website which does last minute bids for you.

Hey everyone!

Happy Mother's Day to those of you celebrating today! Our mother's day isn't until May.

Happy belated birthday Sarah (binkytell)! Did your DD get my DD's email? She was so excited about the WDW pics so she sent a couple from our trip to DLP in the fall.

Love the Mickey vest and tie Sarah (totallyangelic)! I wanted to rent DH a tux, but got the  so I'll have to settle for shirt and tie.

I've been trying to catch up on the board all weekend, you guys ROCK!

hi leanne, beth catching up today, she loved seeing pictures of morgan, and we all thought that beth and morgan look quite alike:cheer2: beth says morgan is so pretty:hug:

Because you are a GOLD member, you can start booking onboard fun and Port Adventures on May 28, 2011.

That's only about 55 days from now.

Wow. Are we trying to do any group Palo brunches?

i am so jealous of all your countdowns in your signature, it shouldnt be allowed:eek:

I think the phrase "doing some major 'remodeling'" is an understatement!!! How about "complete demolition". :scared1: Wow! I bet you were surprised to have that happen right next door.

Good luck :) with their "remodeling"...hopefully, it won't affect y'all too much.

You are right - there are some people who still have LOTS of money...(wish I were one of them) :rotfl::rotfl:

Which ship is it on HAL? It is our preferred cruiseline, we did two last year, have done six total. Let me know if you need any information.

It is on the New Amsterdam, I believe it their newest ship. So excited, can't wait.:banana:

Just reading back - it's been a busy weekend. LOVED the sound of banafee pie - until I discovered it has bananas in it - to which I'm allergic. I'll make sticky toffee pudding, instead :)

Welcome, y'all new folks! I'm Linda traveling with friends Eilean (MomE) and Caroline (LovingtheMouse).

I love Sticky Toffee Pudding. I had it for the first time in Bermuda. It was AWESOME !!!!

The mom had told me they were going to do some extensive remodeling but we did not expect the house to be knocked down. What they did is leave one standing frame so I guess that constitutes "an extensive remodel". The newer people who move here often flaunt their "wealth" which usually comes from stock options. I often find it very vulgar to see what monstrosities these people build as houses. One family was very angry that the city would not give them a permit to building parking for 200 so they could entertain their "closest friends". The worst story is what Steve Jobs did to his house here as this article states, Steve Jobs, the Demo man. I am very sorry he is ill but what he did to this house angered the entire community.

I love sandals too ... particularly wedges ... hope to pick up some new pairs prior to the cruise to go with my new dresses !!

If you leave out the banana it just becomes "Offee Pie " :rotfl2:
