Well my first Ebay dress has arrived and it is very nice but there is about an inch gap at the zip where it won't fasten up... an incentive to lose some weight I think. ( either that or buy bigger size dresses :sad2::sad2: ) I am going to try really hard now and that dress WILL fit me by the time we cruise.

That's the spirit.... most of my dresses are on the tight side, but I never learn, I just get a bit over opimistic :rotfl:
It will all be alright on the night

Our timeshare is on Oahu, just a block from Waikiki Beach. It's not a fancy place but the location is great .. and it's a wonderful escape from our Northwest winters. Two weeks doing nothing but lazing in the sun, reading books on the beach, sipping (virgin) pinacoladas :beach:

We  Cheesecake Factory, it's only about a 10 minute stroll from our condo and we frequently take that stroll ;) Thank goodness we have a fridge at home, as we can never fit dessert in after dinner. It's always busy so that must keep her hopping.

I can't EVEN imagine how glorious it must feel to leave the NW winters and go to your tropical getaway! :thumbsup2 Sure would hate to pack up and come back to the read world full of freezing cold weather! lol

OMG....I DO NOT WANT a Cheesecake Factory within walking distance from me! I wouldn't even be able to roll in the door after a couple of weeks (and no 10 minute stroll would be able to burn off all the calories I would consume at each meal!!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2::lmao::lmao:) Too much temptation so close!!!!! :)

It is a busy place but tipping is not so great so she is struggling financially. Sam was a bartender in Palo Alto but not there yet as she got her liquor card. Hopefully, if she if she can again work as a bartender, she will make more money. Sam quit one of her jobs which we did not think was a good idea at the time. She has applied to a number of law schools so it is a wait and see game to see where she will get in as she majored in sorority in college!! I think it is hard for Sam to realize that she may not get into as many law schools as she desires as her grades were not as good as when she came out of high school. However, Sam is beginning to see how hard it is to make a living without an advanced degree in these times.

Ok, off my soapbox and back to cruise planning!!

So your daughter "majored in sorority"! :lmao::lmao::lmao: My son wasn't in a fraturnity, but he majored in "Bar Hopping 101":crazy2:...as a matter fact.....most of his group of friends did too! :rotfl2::rotfl2: He straightened up in his junior year as far as grades were concerned so he only minored in "Bar Hopping/Tailgating"!!! :woohoo: Now we have another son who is a junior....and guess what he's majoring in? You guessed it! Taking right over where his brother left off! lol

My daughter did very well the first two years but not the last two years. I wish she would have done it in reverse but what can you say but c'est la vi!!

We received our "Welcome Aboard" mailer from DCL today listing all of our important dates (full payment due, excursion book date, etc).

:thumbsup2

Whilst i'm sad the Magic won't be back in Europe, I absolutely want to do the LA to Hawaii intinerary!!! I had better hope for a lottery win!

I was thinking the very same thing! :thumbsup2

Love, love, love the Galveston and NY departures :cheer2:...opens up great options for us. Not sure about the 2 nighters, though....wonder if they will be more like party sailings :crazy2: and less family friendly. Looking at the prices, I'm even more thrilled by the TA...what a bargain!

Samantha is working at the Cheesecake Factory in Honolulu.

I cannot believe this topic actually came up on the board....There are no CF's anywhere near here, but I am heading to Boston tomorrow on business and had already planned to eat at...you guessed it...the Cheesecake Factory! I'm desperately hoping they have a sugar-free ck, or I will have to muster all my strength and forgo my favorite all-time dessert. But I will still enjoy looking at the menu! :cloud9: Trying to control the weight is a life-long battle...

I try not to eat any of the desserts there as they are so high in calories. You might want to call ahead and ask if they have anything low call on the menu. In the link I posted, I am sure you can find the phone number of the CF that you are going to visit so you will be prepared.

We absolutely LOVE  the Cheesecake Factory. There is one a little too close (meaning, within walking distance) to our place in New Orleans, so we get over there pretty frequently when we are in town...YUM! :thumbsup2

Oh Lordy!!!! Our son is in the same curriculum - not sure exactly what to call it, but it involves a Fraternity, parties, girls & probably lots of booze. (Wonder where he got this idea....maybe from Dad, the bad influence???) He seems to be on the 7-year plan for college. :scared1: Hopefully, one day he will finish. Not to mention our daughter starts college this Fall. Oh Lordy!!! :faint:

We love it too but don't go too much since Sam left for Hawaii.

Samantha did graduated with a double major and minor in four years but with a low GPA. She came out of HS with an almost 4.0 but nowhere near that when she graduated from University.

Thanks for the suggestion. I avoid sugar and the "bad" carbs, but I can generally make any menu work with my way of eating (I refuse to call it a "diet"). On vacation, it's anything goes...another reason I really love to cruise :cool1:. We're going to visit our daughter in Austin TX in May, and believe me, we will enjoy our trip. Great dining in that town, esp. if you love Tex-Mex and TX bbq. But we're still going to try to control ourselves , knowing what Sept. will bring! At least on the ship, we walk it off (well, we might bring home an extra pound or two :rolleyes1).

After this year, I'm going to try and made reservations for the DVC resort in Oahu. We'd love to take our boys there......if not.....I've told my husband when I retire (3 - 5 years), I would love to rent a place on the Big Island for a month. Plenty of days to tour and sightsee and plenty of days to do nothing but enjoy the atmosphere!:thumbsup2 A girl can always dream! :cloud9:

How long has your daughter been in Oahu? I'd be afraid I would go for a visit and be the guest who wouldn't leave! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I have been in love with the islands since my first trip in 1975. My brother and sister in law live on Oahu. We have an opportunity to go stay in their home for 5 weeks while they are on a 4- day cruise during May/June:love: we can settle in and get that real Ohana feeling:cheer2:

The Big Islnd is an awesome place too:cool1:

Looking for flights and trying to figure out boarding for the dogs.

How's that for new math? :goodvibes

I was fortunate to nab a four-month travel nurse assignment in Honolulu back in 2000. Now I have 3 different time shares (Oahu, Maui, and the Big Island) - so I have to go back.

email from DCL today (should be the official announcement of the new itineraries):

Exciting things are on the horizon for Disney Cruise Line
Go to disneycruise.com on Wednesday, April 6 at 1:00 pm EDT

5 weeks for a 4 day cruise......looks like you two are coming out in the good on this one!!!! :rotfl2::rotfl2: Hope you have a wonderful trip and would love to talk with you about your trip afterwards/on the cruise!

Wow! 5 weeks with boarding your dogs! They are going to be pouting with you when you return home! :rotfl:

Karen- Hope your DH has a speedy recovery and can go to DLP with you! :goodvibes

How exciting to hear about the new itineraries! I would love to be able to do the Hawaii cruise... but so close to the MV of the Fantasy there's no way I could get that much time off. The New York and Seattle cruises sound great too. We've definitely got some major planning to do

Well at least I know you are paying attention:rotfl2:. Typo it's a 42 day cruise SO we have until July 4th to vacate. DH says 3 weeks maximum.......I'm still in negotiations:scared1:
