Well my first Ebay dress has arrived and it is very nice but there is about an inch gap at the zip where it won't fasten up... an incentive to lose some weight I think. ( either that or buy bigger size dresses :sad2::sad2: ) I am going to try really hard now and that dress WILL fit me by the time we cruise.

:wizard: Good luck Sarah, I am really struggling with it at the moment too. Hopefully we will all get there in the end. :wizard:

Hope those of you with Storms etc stay safe.

Lynne Thanks for posting about the new DCL sailings. I want to do the Hawaii itinerary sooooo bad, but would also love to do the New York itinerary heading north. So many choices .. so little money

I quite fancy the PC to NY Repo followed by the first cruise out of NY, even though it is back from whence we came. Then spend 8 nights in NY and end up by going on the first cruise to Canada!!!:dance3:

That is some itinerary Marilyn, lols x

WOW .. that would be some vacation. :thumbsup2

Would love to do the Hawaii cruise! :cloud9: I've always wanted to go! It would be a good way to see all the little islands that normally I wouldn't go to, but I still would love to go without cruising. That is the only way to get a real feel of the islands and see so much more! I guess cruising would be a good way to whet your appetite, so you can go back for an extended stay! :cool1:

Do you think Disney is taking the Med. cruises off the roster because they were losing money or just making changes to attract more people?

I've been to Hawaii several times and seem to always be waiting for a chance to return. I have been looking forward to combining these two pleasures, DCL and Hawaii - and getting the chance to see the various islands from the ship. Especially hoping we get the chance to sail off the Napali coast of Kauai - something best seen from the water or air.

Once you get a nibble, I imagine you'll be going back for more - and now they'll have the new A'ulani resort for Disneyphiles.

i hope they offer the hawaii cruise more that just the april date as its to early for us to do it then, susie

I haven't checked all the dates listed for the Wonder, but months ago there was an article in the Honolulu paper that said DCL had docking privileges in early May and September at the Honolulu pier. Leaving LA April 29 would account for the early May docking. Another HI cruise in September perhaps? Will need to investigate - or just be patient and wait for tomorrow's announcement :rotfl2:

...Debra, Peggy, and Lynne - How are you this morning after that wild weather last night? ...

We had it in the afternoon - much less frightening because you can see what's happening. Lots of thunder/lightening, a short time with strong winds and then hours of rain.

Today, it is gorgeous here. Sunshine, blue skies, dogwoods and Kwanza cherry trees, wisteria, irises - all in full bloom - and they held up through the storm. A little chilly at 50 degrees F/10 C after yesterday's 79.

Lynne.....My parents have been to Hawaii 3 times and loved it! I'll always remember mom talking about the first time they went. My dad won the trip through his work. So a whole group of people from dad's work went. The company had some wonderful events planned for everyone. One in particular was that they had a luau planned on a piece of land that was surrounded on three sides by the ocean at sunset. While everyone was having happy hour, a plane flew overhead and dropped a bunch of orchids to land right where they were. Mom said it was the most romantic scene she had ever witnessed. I can just imagine how beautiful everything looked and then to put the icing on the cake....to have flowers drop from heaven for the women!

Since then I've been a sucker for wanting to go (even though I KNOW flowers won't be floating down from the heavens above!), but it just seems like such a romantic place to go.

John and I have been to all of the Hawaiian Islands many times and agree with your characterization. My youngest DD is living on Oahu before she goes to law school.

After this year, I'm going to try and made reservations for the DVC resort in Oahu. We'd love to take our boys there......if not.....I've told my husband when I retire (3 - 5 years), I would love to rent a place on the Big Island for a month. Plenty of days to tour and sightsee and plenty of days to do nothing but enjoy the atmosphere!:thumbsup2 A girl can always dream! :cloud9:

How long has your daughter been in Oahu? I'd be afraid I would go for a visit and be the guest who wouldn't leave! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

We used to spend at least a week every year when the kids were younger at the Kona Village on the Big Island. Our rooms were in the Samoan with a beach view. Plan was American so all meals and activities were included, plus a free washer and dryer right out in the open to wash your clothes so we didn't take much. Back in the 1970's and 80's, it had a small airport where you could land right at the resort.

Samantha has been there since the end of January and will be there until about the end of August.

That sounds so lovely  We go to Hawaii most years, as we have a Time Share there given to us by my inlaws. While we've had many romantic moments, flowers dropping from the sky, sounds really over the top :cloud9:

The Kona Village looks beautiful and right on the ocean! I'm sure it was a wonderful place to stay. Did you see the volcano at night with the lava flowing down to the ocean? I think that would be amazing to see.

Did your daughter have friends there to stay with or did she get a job there temporarily? What a wonderful experience to live there til school starts! :)

Is your timeshare on Oahu or one of the other islands? What nice in-laws you have! lol That's great you can go there so much. You wouldn't feel like you have to do everything while you are on vacation in case you never made it back. You can take your time seeing the beautiful sights and just relax. Hope you have many, many more great times in Hawaii! :yay::yay:

At that time, I don't remember seeing any lava. We did however visit the Kilauea many times both in person and by helicopter.

Samantha is working at the Cheesecake Factory in Honolulu.

Going back to the shoe obsession quite a few posts back. I bought 4 new pairs of sandals for the two cruises I am going on this summer. Not a huge fan of shoes, but love love love sandals. Too bad I live in New Jersey and only get to use them a few months out of the year. Bought a new pair of black heels too. DH paid for them but doesn't know it yeat. Ha ha ha. OK have to stop shopping now, it's bad bad bad when more money goes out than comes in. Hope to keep my job a while longer. Maybe I can save for a Fantasy cruise in 2012. Time break out the "Disney Fund" change jar.

mmmm.... shopping my DH thinks I must have enough dresses by now... I have but I can't tell him that !!! ? does a second cruise mean you can buy a new set of clothes or shoes as the case maybe. Just a shame reality must creep in now and then

Seriously, 7 Hours without a post?

I'm all excited because there was a news leak about the new sailings for DCL

Disney Cruises from Texas and New York!!.

NO Europe next year then :guilty:

After Disney canceled my 7 night med cruise this year I was hoping they'd come back next year so I could finally do it.

Anyway booked on the dream next year for a 6 nighter and looking forward to attending some of the Olympic games too,

Hi everyone!

Well, DH is having spine surgery on Thursday. Fortunately, it's not as invasive as we feared and he should be fully recovered in 10 to 12 weeks. Fingers crossed that it goes well.

To those recently joining, I am Karen and I am crusing with my (soon to be 13) year old son (Andrew). It will be our 3rd cruise on DCL (and 5th cruise overall) and definitely the longest (all the others have been 7 days)! Andrew and I will be visiting DLP before the cruise and are flying to Barcelona the day before the cruise (where I'm still hoping to see the Sagrada de Familia). We're hoping that DH will be able to join us for the Paris part of our trip...but we won't know that for a bit.

I can't remember who posted the banofee pie but....YUM! It looked delicious. I'm presently trying hard to avoid desserts and other high calorie items as I need to lose much more than a "stone" (but would be happy with any weight loss at all!). BTW, I started the Couch to 5K program today and have high hopes.

Take care all. I'll try to keep up the next week or so, but.....

Karen

I hope your DH makes a quick recovery so he can join you both at DLP. and i wish I could keep away from the desserts... but alas
margaret

Our timeshare is on Oahu, just a block from Waikiki Beach. It's not a fancy place but the location is great .. and it's a wonderful escape from our Northwest winters. Two weeks doing nothing but lazing in the sun, reading books on the beach, sipping (virgin) pinacoladas :beach:

We  Cheesecake Factory, it's only about a 10 minute stroll from our condo and we frequently take that stroll ;) Thank goodness we have a fridge at home, as we can never fit dessert in after dinner. It's always busy so that must keep her hopping.

It is a busy place but tipping is not so great so she is struggling financially. Sam was a bartender in Palo Alto but not there yet as she got her liquor card. Hopefully, if she if she can again work as a bartender, she will make more money. Sam quit one of her jobs which we did not think was a good idea at the time. She has applied to a number of law schools so it is a wait and see game to see where she will get in as she majored in sorority in college!! I think it is hard for Sam to realize that she may not get into as many law schools as she desires as her grades were not as good as when she came out of high school. However, Sam is beginning to see how hard it is to make a living without an advanced degree in these times.

Ok, off my soapbox and back to cruise planning!!

We were also booked on that cancelled cruise and hoped we could do it next year. I guess Disney needs another new ship that could do European itineries .. maybe another sister ship to the Magic and Wonder
