Okay, we currently have 100 points at AKV with a June UY. We are considering adding on at either BLT or just buying another 50 pts at AKV.

When it comes to using banked points from the previous year, how confusing is it to balance the 2 contracts?

Example-with getting 09 UY points, we would have 200 AKV and 100 BLT with 100 of AKV and 50 of BLT needing to be used before end of 2010 UY. We will book a 75 point stay at BLT for October and a 85 point stay at AKV in January for a total of 160 pts out of our 300 total pts. Now, will they take 15 AKV points to pay for the BLT since I will only be using 85 of my 100 pts at AKV and I need to use my banked 09 points?

With my math, as confusing as all this sounds, this would leave me with 40 pts from 2010 UY to bank for BLT and 100 pts to bank at AKV.

My head just hurts writing this and I know what I mean, Im pretty sure I will have confused all of you to the point to where you wont want to even attempt an answer!!

What???

Your AKV points can be used at AKV at 11 months and your BLT points can be used at BLT at 11 months. You can use either, anywhere at 7 months.

You need to bank any unused points during the first 8 months of any given UY of you lose them.

Does that help?

:) Bill

:confused3 not sure what you're saying.
But you can only book your home resort at 11 months with home resort pts. If you need pts from the other resort you own you need to wait for the 7 months window.

to book a stay at BLT requiring 75 pts in october, you will have to use 50 banked BLT pts plus 25 current BLT pts if you are calling before 7 months out.

if you call 7 months out and BLT still has availability, then yes, you can combine 50 banked BLT pts with 25 banked AKV pts to book BLT for a 75 pt stay.

Yes, I knew this. But I guess what I am asking is if I can "exchange" 15 of my BLT points for 15 AKV points once I get inside the 7 months. Since I will have enough BLT points to make the reservation outside the 11 months, I just want to switch where the points are coming from....

I dont "need" the points to make the reservations. I will have enough BLT points to make the reservation 11 months out. Once I get inside the 7 months, I just want to switch a few of the points over and use my AKV points that need to be used.

Like I said, I know it was confusing, but....

Yes, I realized that. Maybe I explained it a bit better in my latest posts. If not, no worries. I understand all of the basic principles, but I just know that banked points need to be used in the following UY and I will have 15 points left over from my AKV contract and want to apply those to my BLT reservation that will be made outside the 7 month window with the appropriate BLT points.

Only if there is still availability for the room you have booked. Say you book a SV studio for those 75 points using all BLT points during the home resort booking window.

When you call at 7 months, if they still have SV studios available, then they should allow you to 'swap' out some of the BLT points for banked AKV points.

However, if that room is not still available, then no, you would not be able to use AKV points.

Thank you. Even tho thats not the answer I wanted, its the answer that I figured I was going to get! Just trying to decide if we should buy more at AKV to keep things simple, or buy BLT and be able to book at the 11 month window!!!

On this note, you could take a chance and cancel the reservation and rebook with the new points. There is a real possibility you could not get the reservation back and be up a big creek.

I couldnt see someone canceling without knowing that it would be available on the back end. Or am I missing your point??

If no room is available, canceling would open up a room. If the CM is fast enough, they could rebook the room before the waitlist or another CM grabs it. This is a huge gamble to take with a vacation. The other options is to WL using the points you want.

ahhhhh, I got it. That would be one heck of a gamble. Im not sure I could do that. Only time will tell.

You could book one day with the new points THEN cancel one day on the current reservations using the previous points with little risk.
