Due to our having to book last minute, the online Disney site didn't have all of our nights available at the same resort...

Our first two nights were booked with Disney, our next three nights weren't available on the Disney site, so we booked the SAME resort but had to do it through a discount booking site...

ALL of our nights are booked in the same room category, same resort and back to back nights. We have a daughter with mobility issues and I'm worried that they'll want us to switch rooms...we'll have to re-pack and un-pack again.

Is there a good chance that they can get us to stay in the same room for the entire 5 nights, even though it's booked as two separate reservations? I've called Disney and told them the situation. They said it's 'noted' in our reservation, but not a guarantee...

You've done as much as you can do. They will try to keep you in the same room if possible, but they can never guarantee it. A lot will depend on how heavily booked they are during your stay.

They will try to keep you in the same room but there is a possibility that you will have no choice but to move it just really depends on how full the resort is and honestly I feel like it's a toss up on if you'll have to move half way through or not.

Explain the situation to the front desk CM when you check in. You are in the same resort and room category so chances are slim to none that they will make you move. You will have to check in again though on the first day of your second reservation. I did this very early on the day I had to do it. It was quick and we didn't have to change.

One thing I have done is to call and have the CM note the second reservation. I had no other room requests. I did let the CMknow at checkin as well and the few times I did this I did not have to change rooms but I did have to go to the front desk and 'check in' again - I did this at 6am

We just had a stay like this and were able to stay in the same room. It probably depends on several things but I would call and make sure they have noted your reservations should be linked. As a previous posted said, I did have to stop by the front desk and check out/in and make payment since the second ressies was room only and wasn't paid in full yet.

There is no guarantee that you will be allowed to stay in the same room. So have a backup plan ready in case you need to move.

We've booked like this several times.
I have always had them note the reservations
So far I have never had to change rooms even though I know it's a possibility.
The last time was last month at BWI.
I didn't even have to go to the front desk to check out/in. They did it just after the computers rolled over
About 6:15 that morning I got a text that our room wasn't ready and then about 6:16 I got a text with our room number, which was the room we were already in.
What I don't know is this a change or if I just got a CM who did it or what.
But at no point did they ever ask me to return to the front desk to do it but on our similar stays at Poly and CR they did.
At Poly I even had to sign the forms again.
At CR I didn't have to do anything but stop by. When I told them what I was doing they checked the computer and it was all ok
All of the stays were during the MB era too

It is a roll of the dice, I've done what you are doing and had to change rooms, no matter how hard I pleaded but I think I just had a grumpy CM when I checked in. It was just for one night and the room change was the same type of room (BW studio) same view, just booked part through Orbitz and part through Disney. I just didn't want to fight with the CM so I moved.

That is really a shame. Our first time to do this was a combo Orbitz/Disney reservation and we were still able to stay in the same room.

Have it noted, and talk to the CM when you check in. They will do what they can, but no guarantees.

We did this at Port Orleans Riverside once and didn't have to change rooms.

I guess I don't understand why someone would have to change rooms? I mean regardless if they are full or not... If you are in a room, and then going to have to change rooms, and go into another room of the same tier( not garden view etc.) why on earth would they make you change? You still are taking up "one" said room... Why make your family move from one to another, if they are full or not?
:confused3

I've never understood for the same reason. Seems like they should be able to place those
arriving at the time of your 2nd reservation in other rooms
If the room assigners didn't know and put you in 2 different rooms I can see it. I always ask at arrival for them to look at the 2nd reservation to be sure it was noted in case it can be corrected then. So far it hasn't been a problem and they had us in the same room
If you are put in a connection room and didn't need it but someone arriving at the same time as your second reservation did I can see it
But those are about the only instances
But I guess it does happen.

Maybe someone requested the specific room number of first room, and they believed there was no reason not to fulfill that request given that they are obviously not aware of back-to-back reservations when they assign rooms?

It is actually quite simple the room inventory won't allow it. There is so many different check ins and check outs each day that you could possibly have a the same room type but because of the reservations you might a have gap of 2 days in one room and 3 in the other. As an inventory manager they want to maximize revenue that means filling every room back to back. In a slow season it doesn't matter much but in peak season it can be chaos if not managed properly. Think as it as Tetris game sometimes you have the space but the piece won't fit without creating a gap.

OP as other have said if they can they will leave you in the same room but don't expect it.

That's a great way to explain it. I spent several years working at a hotel Front Desk. Room assignments were typically one of my daily tasks.

More often than not, hotels want to keep the guests in the same room. Room changes are an annoyance for everyone involved. Additionally, for many hotels, cleaning a "check-out" room costs more than cleaning a "stay-over". (For example, sheet on all beds will need to be cleaned.) So, it's in the best interest of the hotel to avoid a room change.

Unfortunately, things that are simple at a regular-size hotel can get more complicated at hotels with 1,000+ rooms. Positions tend to be more specialized. In my past job, room assignments were just one task. At Disney resorts, there's a person that only does that job. In general, that set-up works well. But, it also comes with some drawbacks, such as the case of back-to-back room reservations. Doing something out-of-the-ordinary generally requires two or more people. That always complicates things.

Boardwalk Villa studios can be tricky. They can be part of a lockoff 2 bedroom or dedicated without a connecting door. If they need a lockoff to fill a 2 bedroom reservation, they could make you move. Also, non DVC reservations are booked as standard but you get whatever DVC members have not booked, usually pool/garden views. Again, it's possible that the room you had originally was booked by someone else for the other nights. Even though you appeared to have the same room type, internally they could have been different.

Yes this is possible if the continuing reservation was not noted. If it was that shouldn't be an issue. The assigner will know when placing you in the first room. I believe they do make every effort to let someone stay in the same room. They would not move a guest on purpose just to let another have a specific room.

Some here are making it sound like it is rare to stay in the same room but I think in my experience it is the opposite. I think it's rare you have to move
