Not sure how susceptible you are to motion sickness, but on our first cruise, Ashley was very nauseated the whole first day, and did not eat much for dinner that night (we didn't have any medicine). She was fine the rest of the Cruise.Let's talk about motion sickness. I got the script for scopolamine patches, but after hearing about the withdrawl horror stories after removing them I am terrified. Not just for me, but for my daughter. I have taken meclazine (Bonine) before for vertigo and it knocks me out for about 3 days (not an exaggeration). I am suddenly really afraid that our cruise is going to be ruined either by motion sickness or the meds.
Anyone use anything besides the patches or Bonine that works for them?
So when it got time for our second cruise we purchased both sea bands and this small bottle of essential oils that you place behind your ear. Both of these were purchased at Walgreens. She did not get sick any on that trip.
Both of these cruises were on Carnival Fantasy class ships (the smallest and oldest in there fleet), so they probably moved with the ocean more than the Dream will.
The sea bands are elastic bands with a small button that is placed on the inside of your wrist. The pressure in that spot is supposed to help you from feeling sick.
The smell of the oil that you place behind the ear is also supposed to help you from feeling sick.
I don't know how well they would work for others, but they seemed to work for my wife!
