Sep. 7, 2015 on the Dream

Watch for my family over at the Poly. We are staying there pre cruise :) Can't wait!! When are you guys planning to eat there? We will keep our eyes open. We have Ohana dinner 9/5 at 6:30 and Kona cafe 9/7 at 8:30 am. I'm usually not out and about at that time, but I read that bell services pick up bags going to port at 8 am sharp.

We have reservations at Ohana the evening of the 2nd. I plan on going to Capt. Cooks for the Tonga Toast for breakfast on the 6th.

On line check in is basically what Joe said. Different resorts have different requests you can make. Requests are just that "requests", not guarantees!!! Like top floor, 1st floor. near elevator. My request is tope floor for my Poly Lake view studio. You can also put any celebrations on your reservation. Then you can also hook your credit card to your account and set a PIN code for it. It is supposed to speed up your check in when you arrive (I don't think it really does).

Also those who are staying at Disney resorts pre or post cruise, you will want to customize your Magic bands. You can pick the color and then pick the name on it. The name doesn't have to be your real name, it has nothing to do with your actual account. The name is just a label on the band. We all use our nicknames. (Sunshine, Booger, Babsy and Goofy) To customize the bands log in on the WDW site and hover over My Disney Experience in the upper right corner of the screen. When the menu drops down click on Magic bands.

I customized our bands as soon as I booked. I can't wait until they ahow up in the mail.......I am sure I will be xhecking the mailbox 5 times a day once I see that they have been shipped :rolleyes1

Have you heard of not have to check in at the lobby? That you can go straight to your room?

Yeah, but I'm not real crazy about that idea. I like to talk to a person. Then you can always ask if your request was honored and if there is any way to have it honored. Plus I just don't understand that. How do you get your room assignment? The resorts always ask if you want a text message when your room is ready. I have never gotten one when I said yes. Plus, what time do you get to your room then? I guess I should really read about it, but I like dealing with a real person :)

I agree about dealing with a real person. I guess if you are a late arrival it would be good for you. As your not getting the bottom of the barrel sorta speak. We aren't going to get to the resort until like 11:00pm and I debated about staying somewhere off property just to be able to check in early on Friday but from what I'm reading the text message is working people are getting them before they leave there house and fly there saying there room is ready. I guess you could call and change it if you have a map of the buildings and room #'s

Hay aren't you suppose to be at a fair eating fair food?? ahhhhh fair food. Well I just gained 5 lbs

I just sent the husband to bring me home some shishkabobs lol! It' nasty again tonight :( We are supposed to get sun tomorrow, so we will spend the night up there then. Carly and I went to Rural King to get some cute rubber boots yesterday ;)

What DVC is your home resort?

Another question... Has anyone ever used walkie-talkies in the cruise? Are they allowed? Do they work? Thoughts?

What's the 5K run I'm just getting into running and that sound like it might be fun What's the time and do you know if there is an option for the kids to participate or be in like the kids club (on the ship) but on the island

Each time the ship is docked at Castaway Cay, they have a 5K run. You can run it or walk it. Most say it can be done in an hour or less. They also give you bibs with numbers, and Castaway Cay medal when you finish. You also get off the ship before anyone else :)

I was at Saratoga Springs, Animal Kingdom and Old Key West. Now just Old Key West. I hope you guys have a good time there! I see your getting in the Ohanas spirit with the shish kabobs just need that peanut sauce oh yummm

I think someone said the kids club will be open. This will be my first time

Ok that's right, so when we know a definite room # then that will be updated on the fe. Thanks! We debated doing that, but the wife didn't want to risk ending up on one of the ends of the ship (she got a touch of motion sickness on our first cruise, and because of it trys to stay mid ship now)

Speaking of GTY, anyone know how long it takes to get a room #?? I've heard it can take as long as just a few weeks before sailing ?!?! :sad2:
This is our first time doing GTY but we really like the cat 4E and 5E rooms. I know most people don't, they can be a tad noisy depending on which one you actually get. But DH really enjoys the bigger verandah so we book them every sailing if available. And we've been very happy in them for the most part.
With that said, I almost vetoed it when we booked on board and the guy said it would be a GTY. I was like, "oh no! What if we miss out on FE because they can't find us!!!"
You can clearly see where my priorities are..... DH was not amused. :confused3

:rotfl2:

There is a thread out there on people's experiences and the GTY rooms....Sometimes you get lucky and get an awesome GTY cabin and others may not get any upgrade at all. GTY's are normally assigned 40 - 60 days out. Example of what was posted on the thread ... These are both my GTY results :)

Here is how my GTY went last year for my October 2014 sailing and it had no upgrade, it was the same category booked ...

#1. What category GTY cabin did you book? 7A
#2. What category and room # did you get? 7A - 5024
#3. How many days before the cruise were you assigned your room? 58
#4. Are you happy with your assignment or do you feel like you got a "leftover"- undesirable room/location? No, was not happy, was hoping for an upgrade, no upgrade. Also, located on deck 5, did not want to be near the kids club or kids club traffic.
#5. If you booked more than one room, are they close together? NA
#6 What ship are you sailing? Dream
#7. What day of the week was you cabin assigned. Saturday
#8. What time of day was your cabin assigned? Afternoon
#9. What month is your cruise? October

Here is the other example of the GTY room I booked for our September 2013 sailing....

#1. What category GTY cabin did you book? 7A
#2. What category and room # did you get? 5A - 9024
#3. How many days before the cruise were you assigned your room? 53 days
#4. Are you happy with your assignment or do you feel like you got a "leftover"- undesirable room/location? Yes, happy with room and location
#5. If you booked more than one room, are they close together? NA
#6 What ship are you sailing? Dream
#7. What day of the week was you cabin assigned. Wednesday
#8. What time of day was your cabin assigned? Late afternoon, 2:45pm
#9. What month is your cruise? September 2013

Can't wait to do on line check in. We are arriving on 9/4 staying at AKL-Kidani Village. I've got our magic bands taken care of and hoping for a room near the lobby on lower floor. Hoping not to have to walk to far since my mom has knee problems. I've made reservations at Boma, Sanaa, The Wave and brunch at House of Blues. Also looking forward to viewing the fireworks from BLT. Counting down the days

We love the fireworks from BLT! My husband has never seen them from there, but I'm not sure if we will make it over there this trip. Although we may walk over there to watch the fireworks and then walk back for extended magic hours on Saturday. Seems kind of silly to leave the park and then go back, but I like not having to fight for a spot to watch the show. We will see what everyone wants to do when the time comes.

The last time we went to DW it was with make a wish. We couldn't do dining reservations and honestly it was fine with us. The worst was lunch trying to find a place to eat that wasn't crowded. We aren't doing character meals and have the 1 quick and 1 full service dining plan. Any suggestions for places to eat for lunch? We usually ate dinner off park on the last trip but with the dining plan we're staying this time. I don't want to leave the park and come back at dinner but wouldn't mind going to another Disney place for lunch.

Be our guest is just a quick service credit at lunch. You can make a reservation and even order your meal in advance. We have the dining plan that you have and will be doing BOG on our first MK day.
-For HS we are doing Pizza Planet at lunch. Not sure how good it is, but it was my 5 year olds ONLY request for our entire trip!!! I figured we should go, Lol!
-Epcot we are doing La Cantina de San Angel for lunch.
-Animal Kingdom lunch will be at Flame tree BBQ.
My family likes all kinds of foods, so to keep everyone from getting bored we aren't repeating any food types :cutie:
I was a little obsessive about it, and probably researched food places more than any other part of our trip!

We're in the same list so I bet you're asking about us :) We have actually had a room assignment since booking but I'm one of those paranoid people that hates putting info out there-that would also be why my avatar is a photo from the back ;) I'll probably private message everyone our cabin number. I guess I could do that soon since the list is final!
not a problem, understand entirely.
