I have read that magic bands are linked to the guest and not the hotel reservation but I am confused. I leave in a week and am staying 1 night at AKV then 11 nights at WLV. I ordered my custom color bands and received them a couple of weeks ago. Then today I received 3 gray ones with my first name spelled wrong.

On both of my original reservations my first name was spelled wrong but it was remedied over the phone months ago, or so I thought. My MDE has everything correct. We also have AP's, although my husband's is not active yet and I don't think the bands are related to that as my name is spelled fine on my AP.

So I guess my question is, which the heck ones do I use? If the gray ones are for the 11 day stay will I be forced to use them?

I hesitate to call because I think it will be confusing to explain over the phone. I just want to use the color ones. Is this going to be a mess to remedy or am I worried for nothing and this a simple fix at check-in? thanks in advance

When you go to the MagicBands and Cards section in MDE, are the ones you want to use listed?

If your name was wrong in MDE and you never changed it, that could be why:

You can toss the grey ones entirely if you don't like them. MBs aren't trip specific. As long as all of them are linked to your MDE, they are interchangeable (so in your case you should have 1 for your ap and 1 for that first night stay, plus the grey one). You can wear each of them any day you choose (perhaps to match your outfit ).

Just checked and under MDE and then Magic Band and Cards, both sets show up. Thanks for the info as I have been to WDW 20+ times but never dealt with the Magic Bands. I was just confused because everything is linked under MDE with the correct names and getting the gray ones in the mail today threw me off. You get nervous that these things won't work properly for the FP+, dining, etc. Disney should save some money and stop sending all these extra bands! :confused3
