Seniors going through the cue and not riding the ride

Just a heads up to ask for the chicken exit early if in the Mission Space queue. I get too motion sick for it, but walked with DD and Grandpa. The CMs got confused when we said I didn’t want to ride, and I ended up having to go back out the way we came in.

Technically if you use the alternate ECV entry and chicken out the rest of your group doesn't ride.

Our grandson used to use the "chicken exit" on a couple of visits to The Haunted Mansion when he was little and I have to admit I did it in Tower of Terror.

I did it on TOT also, while my pretty young DD happily did it with strangers. I don't remember all the details but I have the picture. I think in my case I waited somewhere with a CM as obviously I couldn't just go off and hope she found me. This was all after speaking to a CM and being assured she would be fine.

At ToT the chicken elevator lets guests out into the same hallway as the ride elevators do. Your DD would have walked right past you and been easy to find, no CM needed. There are benches along the walls where you can sit while you wait.

ToT is my most disliked ride but was DH’s and DD’s favorite, so I spent a lot of time on those benches! I used to watch for their photo to pop up on the big screens, meaning they’d be out soon!

My MIL had a stroke last year and she has never been to Disney. We are taking her this year. Her mobility is great, she just has a severe blind spot in her eyes. I would like for her to experience the cue lines of some of the rides but I know she will not be able to ride some of them.

Has anyone had experience of a member of your party going with you to right before you get on the ride and them meeting you when you get off the ride.

I would hate for her to sit and wait for us to ride if she can’t. I do know that this is possible on Tower of Terror bc my parents did it before.

I do it all the time because I have horrible motion sickness. Just tell the CM as you enter that you need to leave prior to the ride, all the rides have exit doors.

I stand in line with the Grand kids and exit as they board the ride vehicle.
With fewer visitors to the parks now and 10 to 20 min wait times now usually not.

You can get to the front of the line and 'bail' anytime. I sometimes wait in line with my kids or grandkids and then just leave.

Works for me.
Some parents and Grand Parents look at the wait times as how many shots or drinks they can down after putting the kids in line.
They know which bars have the fastest service.

I use the chicken exit often, even on rides that I DO like to ride. Some of them are rides I wouldn't take my camera gear on because I wouldn't want it stored in a bin, banged around, or risking getting wet, so when I ride those rides, I tend not to bring the full camera kit. But when I do have my good camera gear, I want to photograph some of the queues, so I'll go through the line taking photos, letting people pass me, then bail out before the ride boarding - I just tell the CMs I went through the line to take photos. Never been a problem on any ride at Disney.

I've done the queues for a few of the rides that I don't ride - like Mission Space and Rock-n-Roller Coaster ( I can't do circles or loops - it's the one kind of motion sickness I'm susceptible to. Don't mind big drops or fast turns, but if it goes around in circles, spins, or does loops, I'm out). Even the carousels and teacups are no-nos for me.
