Hi all,

My DD is graduating from high school this year and we wanted to give her a trip to disney using our dvc points. Does anyone know what the age limit is for her to go by herself without us and stay at a dvc resort? She is 18 yrs old.

thanks,
Melissa

It is 18....when my daughter was 20 she went to WDW with her girlfriend and WDW would be the only place that we would have felt comfortable. We were friendly with a few of the bell men and were at WDW just before they came. We asked the bellmen if they would "keep an eye" out for them and you know what??? They Did.....they got special treatment and were so impressed with themselves. We never told them!!! ;) HeHe

My dd was 17 when she graduated from HS, and her and four friends went to Disney and stayed at Fort Wilderness in one of the cabins. The only restriction was getting into Pleasure Island at that point in time....the 18 year olds were allowed into PI with a bracelet that said they weren't of age to drink, DD couldn't get in because she was under 18 and didn't have an adult 21 years of age or older to get her in.

Thanks for the replies! I was hoping it was 18yrs old...Disneyworld has been her favorite place since we first brought her there when she was 5yrs old! She will be so excited to share the magic with a few of her close friends and will have them all up at the crack of dawn to be the first in line!! :jumping1: She knows the parks and bus system very well and I feel comfortable letting her go there with a group. I"ll be booking at OKW and we have been there many times so she will feel safe staying there without us. It's hard to believe she's old enough to go it alone :( BUT I know it will be a senior trip that they will remember forever!

thanks,
Melissa

Just had to share a giggle - it had better be 18! I was already married to my DH of 13 years now when I was 18(got married right out of high school) and would have been pretty upset if they hadn't let us go to a hotel without an 'older' adult!

Oh dear, that would've been a BIG problem! :earseek: :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

I sent my DD and 2 of her friends to WDW right after graduation from hs. They stayed at BCV and had a ball. They thought they were hot stuff staying at a deluxe hotel!!!

I don't want to rain on your parade or your daughter's graduation gift but please for the sake of your fellow DVC'ers please ask her & her friends to have consideration for the other guests. I've had several trips where unchaperoned teen's/young adults were beyond control with room doors banging open & shut for hours into the wee hours of the morning when normal people are trying to get a little sleep. I'm sure your daughter is a great kid & I congratulate her on her upcoming graduation & hope she has a great & memorable trip.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but there have been many instances where doors were banging, and the guilty parties were adults and/or young children. It's not just teens.

My DS is a Sophmore, but after touring a Grand Villa last year he said he knew where his Senior year Spring Break trip HAD to be for him and a few friends . Oh, and he did say that I was invited too :love2: . Good thing, since it will be my points paying for the villa! I would be a little nervous sending a group of kids on their own to WDW. They'll have their "space" and their free time. Here's counting down to Spring 2008 :hourglass !

Your dd will love this trip. At least one individual in each room must be 18 years of age or older.

Sent DS1 who is also a disney freak (currently doing the College Program)with 5 of his best buds (together since preschool) for their Senior Trip (sent them in January for value season prices and to save points).

They still talk about how this was the BEST senior trip ever and planning on going back for the college senior trip.
