(I posted this over on the CB, but I thought I would post it here to get a photographer's point of view.)

So I made my appointment for my senior pictures for next Saturday. I am going away this week, so hopefully I'll be somewhat tan by then. LOL. Anyways, I can't decide what to wear. I am having my cat in a couple pictures. I am in color guard (obviously HAHA) and will also be having my flag in the pictures. I'm thinking for my formal pictures, I will wear a black skirt, slightly above the knee and a top thats kind of like this, but red and black with a high black belt attached:

I can have one more outfit and that is where my problem ***es in. I have several outfits in mind.

Outfit A) A top this style, but in a pattern with blue, green, and white and black trim with jean capris.

Outfit B) A top this style (orange stripes) and jean capris.

Outfit C) This top (it is so me, but I don't know how it would look in pictures) with jean capris.

Outfit D) A dark green tank top (real plain, ribbed tank from Old Navy) with these capris.

I also have a pair of black khaki type pants that I could wear. I have no idea what would look good in the pictures and usually I don't care. However, since these are my senior pictures, I really want to look decent. LOL. TIA!

Oh, and the photographers do digital backgrounds, so they can hang a green sheet and enhance it on the ***puter to whatever background you want. For example, in the sectional band pictures (they are the official band photographers) they hang a sheet behind us and put a picture of the side of the trailer that carries our instruments to away performances. So behind us it has the bands logo.

So I am confused I guess, around here, senior pictures are very formal, with guys in Tux shirts and jackets and the girls in a black off the shoulder dress. They also do the cap and gown pictures. Do they do it differently elsewhere?

HS graduation pics are much different from what they used to be when I was in school. Now you take several outfits, including jeans and t-shirts. Actually, a good photographer can take some outstanding senior portraits with the grads in informal clothing. Alot of the pics are taken outside. Many with props like their cars or their pets. Cap and gown, drape (off the shoulder thingie:thumbsup2 ), and suits are still usually done. The youngen's are just showing off their personality more when they dress like they actually do every day. My children got both kind and I cherish them both. The more formal one is hanging in my home, I have a portfolio of the rest of the poses, and their friends tend to take the informal ones.

Take them all. Maybe certain outfits would go better with certain backdrops and this way you would have a larger selection of clothing to choose from.

Souns like you are going to a pro. THey may be able to tell you something like, "this outfit looks great in person, but this one looks great on camera..."

But, of course, remember to respect the photographer's time. Be ready to make the decision before you have to change.

solids always work better than patterns, especially busy patterns, patterns can be distracting and draw the viewers eye away from the main subject{you}

weird, I can't see any of the pics...I wonder why?

Yesterday someone messed with the filters on the forum, it was filtering out com and changing it to astricks, for some reason when they fixed it, some were turned back and others were not.

had to post so i could see what I was judging. it's hard to say what to wear without seeing what you look like. Go with something comfortable and something you look amazing in.

i went with c since you said it was "you".

Senior photos are a lot different than I remember as well.

Take a look at this guys work to see where senior photos are heading.

Check both the seniors area and the gallery.

His pics are a having a positive effect on my shooting - simple lighting setups, mild PP (usually), outstanding results.
