I know this is not Disney related but I didn't know about this till some one told me. Some of you who are seniors, over 50,(really over the hill), like me, may not know it but there are state and national competitions just for us.
The National Senior Olympics are held every 2 years, in a different state each time. The state games are held every two years also but not the same year as the national competitions. The state games are the trials for the national games. You must medal, (bronze, silver or gold), at state level to win the chance to go forward to the national level.

Here is the home page for the National level, each individual state has it's own web site. You can go to your state and see what the qualifying standards were at the last state competition. You can compete at any track and field event from the 100m to the 5K as a runner or the 1500m and 5K as a race walker.
You compete with your age group 50 to 54, 55 to 59..........
So just in case you didn't get the chance to compete in the Olympic games before you turned fifty, you have another chance. The experience is wonderful and since you have that new athletic body from training for Disney anyway.
