Senior Discounts or smaller portions?

Probably a stupid question...but I'm taking my parents who will be 70 & 72 in September...do any of the restaurants offer senior portions or discounts? My mom is funny because she could eat me under the table (you should see her eat crab legs at a buffet!) but insists that she 'doesn't really eat that much'. She'd probably order off the kids menu if she could.

I don't recall every seeing reference to any senior discounts at Disney restaurants; and all the portions are quite generous.

If you're paying cash, a lot of places would let her order off the kids menu. If you're on the dining plan, some places will flat out say no...other places will let her order off the kids menu, but they will charge the full adult credit so what would be the point (especially if you're right that she'd eat more than that anyway.)

Your other option, especially if paying cash, is to share entrees. Again, you'll have mixed results trying this if you're on a dining plan. Some places will let you, others won't.

I've never heard of a restaurant with "senior portions"-- do restaurants outside WDW do that?

Actually, they do...I have seen it at places like Bob Evans, Denny's, and IHOp. I've never seen it at "nicer" places, like Olive Garden, Lone Star, etc.

Some outside restaurants (probably very few) have a senior menu and discounts.

We will be paying cash. I don't think I'm eligiable for the dining plan because we will be staying a VWL through an exchange and from what I understand, the whole group (in our room) has to do the plan. My sister will only be there for 4 days and the rest (4 of us) a week. But I admit I know NOTHING about how the plans work.

Do WDW restaurants frown on sharing? We just went to Disneyland and they charge a split plate charge at Blue Bayou at least.

My experience is that restaurants that offer senior discounts only do so as part of a "senior menu" choice--and those portions are almost always smaller than what is on the normal menu.
And I don't belive any WDW restaurant offers any senior discounts.
