I thought I made note of this but I can't find it in my WDW planning notes ...

At the end of my stay on property I can take all my souvenirs to my resort's gift shop and they will box it and ship it to my home as long as I have ALL my receipts ...

Correct? :confused3

Never heard this but would love to know if it's true.

I know when you are making a purchase you can opt to mail the item home, but I've never heard of doing it all together at the end of the stay. :confused3

I do it every trip for whatever fragile stuff I have bought and yes it can be costly, but it's worth the sanity. Especially with airlines not being the best when it comes to liability for damaged items. Usually when I ship on a Sunday, the boxes come by Friday.

We've done this before since we bought a surprising about of gifts for our DS and DD (go figure:rotfl2: ). It really helped in limiting the amount of baggage on the return trip. Thanks for posting this for others!!!

You can ship things home in this way, but there is a fee for the shipping. However, if you wait and try to buy everything at the World of Disney Store (they have most things) all at once, when you tell them you want it shipped, you don't pay sales tax. The break even point is $200, which I easily exceed each trip. Once you hit $200, the cost of shipping is LESS than the cost of sales tax, so it's more than free. Plus at WOD, you can get your Disny Visa discount.:cool1:

Does anyone know if this applies to international visitors. Sounds like a great idea and would save me paying for excess baggage.

When I was there a few years back, I saw a couple from Japan purchase golf bags and had them shipped. I don't know the cost involved, but I know it is available internationally.

On another note, I had stuff shipped once and one of the items arrived broken. I called and they sent a new one without any hassles.

That is awesome to hear! I have the DisneyVisa and I will definitely be spending more than $200 almost everywhere, souvenir-wise! Thanks a bunch!

I just asked my sister. She is a CM at DTD. She said that shipping internationally is very expensive. For instance, if you purchase a $20 item to be shipped, you will pay about $20 for the shipping. Shipping costs don't really start to drop on international shipping until you reach the $500 mark. Everything is shipped by air. For that reason, most people don't ship international.

Yes it is true. You just take your items and receipts to the resort store and they will ship it home. They won't ship candy and food.

Mister Pat Thanks for that, it looks like we could ship abroad ok.

Feralpeg You have answered my other question, it looks like it would be too expensive to ship our souvenirs back but I have family in Australia and it might be easier for me to ship direct from WDW than to bring souvenirs back to the UK and then pay for our international postage to Australia. Might just ask in the parks.

I love these boards you all seem to have the answer to everything!

We've only been to WDW twice, most recently over the 4th of July week. Both times have been learning experiences for us since we're not travelers. We stayed on property both times & this last trip we were able to use Magic Express. Gosh, what a difference that made! No hassles at the airport & our luggage arrived in a timely manner. Return trip worked well too, except for hassles in O'Hare. Our flight home from O'Hare was cancelled (darn United anyway; they cancelled 2 of our flights!!) & we wasted valuable time hunting for the bus waiting area. Made it in the nick of time. Our luggage even made it to our home airport the next day.

This time taught us to pack a tad lighter & to include an empty suitcase for souveniers. On airlines, people are allowed 2 checked bags & 2 carryons per person & we haven't met the limit. Thus, packing an extra suitcase would work well for us. We did have a "snack" suitcase I thought would work for bringing home presents but we way overbought! And to think I figured we wouldn't buy as much the second time around....silly me!
