Hi, I wonder if someone can help me (possibly Wayne??!!;)), I am about to join DVC and was initially told I needed to pay for it by wire transfer. I have checked that I can do it online through my bank and it appears I would get commercial rates as they are higher than the current tourist rates:confused3

I have spoken to DVC tonight, and apparently I can pay the balance by credit card (Which would be great on my Tesco credit card in terms of clubcard points!!:thumbsup2).

Which would be the best way for me to do this - would I get a better exchange rate through wiring the funds than paying on my card??

thanks for any help!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Tesco CC will have a foreign transaction fee probably 2.5%, if you have the time get a no fee CC, Abbey Zero is fee free, if not go with the bank transfer.

Claire ;)

Tesco CC details here, its 2.75%

Foreign exchange 2.75% exchange fee (including purchases of foreign currency and travellers' cheques).

For every $1,000 you send thats $27.50 in exchange fees. I know nothing about Tesco points, are they worth $27.50 for every $1,000 spent?

thank you both!!:lovestruc

I think I will go with the bank transfer:) - I was only just told about the credit card option, and I immediately saw Clubcard points for Virgin holidays flashing before my eyes!!:lmao: But actually it isn't a good option - so thank you both for pointing that out!!:thumbsup2

we paid for our dvc on a fee free CC.which at time was nationwide.now there is a 1% charge. try post office card now as that's fee free

We are paying for ours on our post office card. It works out best as we are getting bank rates and no charges.

Just to say as our CC limit isn't high enough they have let us pay in several installments.

We are holding out on the final payment until after June 16 to see what new incentives are and if they are better then we can switch - if not we will pay it off and return the contracts so we can close. :goodvibes

There will be a small charge of between £20 to £25 for sending it by bank transfer.

Just checked a transaction I did last year. I paid something by bank transfer for my Brother who was buying a house in Vegas(all fell thru) cost was £17.50 for the trasfer fee. Might have gone up now so you need to check, CC and getting your Tesco points might be better option.
Rate we got on the tranfer was $1.9475, wish it was up there now.

Thanks this is great info - I don't think our Post Office card limit is enough either, so if I can do it in installments too that would be great - thanks ever so much for your post!!:thumbsup2
