Sending money through paypal

When I send a person money for a purchase, will they know my info such as email addy and real name?

Only if you tell them. They might get your email addy, but I'd think someone you're sending money to (presumably for a purchase) would need some way to contact you.

Ok, thanks.. I am buying something from a buddy that he had listed on craigs list, really don't want him to know it was me.. Can just send it to my parents PO box..

when he receives the payment, won't my name show up in the payment details?

I think your real name really does need to show up, at least for things like Ebay, so in case there is a claim accurate information would need to be used. Everytime I sell I have a complete mailing address including name for the purchaser. I don't know if just a generic payment thing would have the same set up.

On Paypal, it does show the name you enter when you register for Paypal. I just sent $$ over to someone else, and her name shows up in my register as receiving money. My email addy should not show up on her end - just my name saying she has money from me.

I sell stuff on and off eBay. The PayPal transaction always includes this information:

Payment From:
Buyer's Email:
Payment Sent to:

For ebay payments it also includes the buyers user ID. I have never dealt with Craigs list but I would assume it is similar.
