Sending meals back??

Ive never had to send anything back at WDW but I wont hesitate to.. Im nice about it as long as wait staff is.. Im a bit worried about the steak at CG now, we have Sept Adr and we all will order the steak..

Yes I would and yes I have. If my steak was supposed to be med rare and it is overcooked or vice versa for DH we always send it back

If food is too salty or raw or burnt, it goes back

If I ordered a new dish and I just didnt like it, well no I would not sent it back...that is my issue for just not liking a dish

Always have had good meals, so far at WDW. We usually only eat at CA Grill if we want a good meal. But I'd never hesitate to send something back. When eating at "lesser" restaurants I usually try to aim for something that should not be a stretch for the kitchen like burgers, sandwich, or pasta. You have to be really talented to screw those up.

Last month we ate dinner at Captains Grille at the YC. I ordered the crab cake appetizer. I took one bite and thought it was terrible. I then asked dh to try a bite to see if it was "Just me".

I think he almost spit it out and said it tasted like an old shoe.

I told the server I really couldnt eat it and she did ask if I wanted something else. I got the same app. as dh. The rock shrimp. It was ok. nothing great.

We ate at Le Cellier this March and should have sent our entrees back when they were served to us before we were half finished with our appetizers. We didn't send them back because we were afraid that they would just put them under the hear lamp.

I forgot I did send an entree back once. I ate at Yak & Yeti the first week it opened and got a new waitress that obviously didn't know what she was doing. I told her I was on the DxDDP and she told me I got an entree, dessert, and beverage. I told her I knew I also got an appetizer. She primly informed me that appetizers were no longer included on either plan.:headache: I asked her to check. She came back a few minutes later in a huff and informed me rather rudely that I was correct and to pick an appetizer.:rolleyes1 I ordered the lettuce wraps and duck. After waiting forever she brought out the lettuce cups and duck together. I know I gave her a blank look for a second, before I informed her I wanted my entree after I finished the appetizer.:rotfl: She grabbed the duck and went off in a huff. The people next to me, leaned toward me, laughed, and said, "not much of a waitress is she?":rotfl: Anyway, I ate my appetizer and she brought my duck out--cold. I assumed I'd get a new duck or at least she'd put it under the heat lamp. No, she brought it out cold and greasy. When I mentioned it, she said, "well you sent it back. What did you expect?'. I told her I expected a new duck and to please take it back. However, at that point I was frustrated and told her never mind, to just bring my ticket and I'd pay OOP for the lettuce cups. She then had the nerve to put that duck on my ticket. I let her know in no uncertain terms I wasn't paying for it, because I didn't eat it. She tried to argue that I had ordered it though. Another waitress came over, shooed her off, aplogized to me, and told me she'd take care of it. That waitress I had was a total ding bat.:rotfl:

I have and I do.

Last trip we were at Sci Fi and my DD ordered mac n cheese and apple slices (which she found she loved at Pop's food court). The mac n cheese was gross and so were the apple slices. I told our waitress politely that she really didn't like her food at all and that I was in shock at how awful the apple slices were because she loved them that morning at Pop. Long story short, she said no problem and asked her to try something different. DD had a burger and fries which were delish.

We were also at Rose n Crown and after some dithering and discussion with our server I ordered the Guiness stew (or whatever the dish is called). I didn't like the taste of it at all and was very disappointed. I finally decided I really wanted to enjoy this meal and didn't want to sit there eating something I didn't like. I told the server so and she happily replaced it with the shepherds pie I was thinking of ordering earlier. It was delicious and really made my meal there great. without that, it would have been a thoroughly disappointing meal.

Mind you, that same meal my kids weren't ecstatic over their food and just ate it as did my hubby and we didn't consider asking for a replacement or send anything back because their meals were fine.

Also I found the risotto at Le Cellier too salty but it was edible enough I didn't think of sending it back or anything. If I had found it truly gross, I would have though.

It all depends on my mood. My kids' steak at Le Cellier was tough and rubbery but I equated that with the quality of the kids steak and not something Le Cellier could fix and didn't send it back. they just ate my filet mignon instead LOL!

I would if it were totally, totally unacceptable. I'd never send the steak I ordered m-rare back because it was served medium. Not because I don't agree with all of you, but there is no way I'm trusting what I'm getting back, especially if the waiter/waitress isn't in 100% agreement with me.

Maybe it's me but I don't like people spitting on my food just so I can prove a point to myself.

1) At WDW or anywhere else, if not as ordered, we send it back!
2) No sense in paying big bucks for something unsatisfactory.
3) At WDW, we have sent back
. . . soft lobster at Narcoossee's (should be firm)
. . . cold food at Kouzzina
. . . over cooked food at Kouzzina
. . . improperly cooked at Le Cellier (Med vs an ordered Med-Rare)
. . . cold burger at Electric Umbrella (YES, EVEN QS FOOD !)
. . . and 3-4 more I can't remember
4) Hey, it is my money and I want what I pay for.

I’ve never had any food issues at Disney but I always manage to get wine glasses that have lipstick on them. It’s happened at least three times to me. I always let the waiter know and they are very apologetic.

Back in 2000 or 2001 (can't remember which trip) we ate at Planet Hollywood...when my chicken breast sandwhich was FROZEN in the middle...yep, I bit down into FROZEN chicken --- I sent it back. No excuse for that. Haven't eaten there ever again....and I'm sure I'm not missing much.

we send back all the time at home and at WDW.

Unpalatable food is not for me.

I have sent food back in restaurants but never at WDW. I guess we've just been lucky. There have been meals that weren't that great but it was more personal taste not bad food. :)

OP here again.. Thanks for sharing!
In the past I have never had a meal at Disney that was bad... we are going again this July and after reading some really awful reviews of meals I am getting concerned about the quality of the meals at WDW now.

Glad to know if I get one that is truly horrible that others have sent back at WDW too!

Remember though... people are more apt to complain then they are to praise. With the number of people that eat at Disney on any given day, my guess is a lot more people have good/decent/great meals then bad.

I think this is an extremely important fact to remember!:thumbsup2

This past Dec I was lucky enough to get two Le Cellier ADRs (one for lunch early the trip and one for dinner a few days later). When I went there for lunch, that lunch filet and risotto was so salty that there was just no way I could eat it. It was like they had spilled a whole box of salt on it. I pushed it around for a few minutes, then just pushed the bowl to the other side of the table. It took forever for the waitress to notice. She didn't say a word about only one or two bites being missing. She just scooped it up and said she'd be right back with the dessert menu.:rotfl: I should have insisted on getting something else, but didn't. Instead on my way out, I stopped and had them cancel my dinner ADR for a few nights later. When they asked why, I told them my steak and risotto was so salty it was inedible and my waitress didn't even care enough to ask why I'd barely touched my meal.:sad2:

I actually don't like it when a waiter or waitress comments on the unfinished state of my meal. I kind of feel like they're being nosy, like I shouldn't have to tell them why I don't feel like eating.

I have not sent anything back at Disney but would if there were good reason to.

We will send back an unsatisfactory meal at Disney just like anywhere else. Though I can think of only one meal we returned at WDW in the past few years. My DM had a steak (not filet) and Kona and it was inedible. She ordered something else. Oh, and once we returned burnt Sticky Wings at Kona and had them bring us a new order.

DD11 and I were just at Disneyland the other day and tried the onion rings at Hungry Bear. We got 3 very greasy rings for almost $4. When I took a bite of one of the rings I couldn't bite through the onion. It was made with one of those outside rings that you can't bite through. I returned the 3 rings to the counter and got a refund. We crossed over to DCA and had some very delicious rings at Taste Pilots Grill.:goodvibes

I've never sent any meal back anywhere out of fear that the staff might take revenge by doing something to my food. Does anyone else worry about this? I'd rather eat a poor meal than risk one with filth or body fluid, etc.

never sent a meal back and never had to. if i didn't like something, it was because i was being too adventurous for my own tastes haha. Although, when I was in Disneyland two years ago at the Blue Bayou I ordered a steak that was too done for my own taste (my own fault), and when the waitress saw I hadn't eaten it she asked if I wanted anything else (i just ate off my parents' plates and was full), and then surprised us by taking it off our check! I think people who have poor dining experiences are much rarer than those with good ones, but as someone said, people are more likely to warn others of a bad experience then to praise a good one.

Even after watching 'Waiting' I've never had issues with that. I've worked at a restaurant and nothing untoward has happened to anything that was ever sent back. We had a gentleman complain that his steak was overcooked (even though it was was bleeding all over the plate, but ok) and sent it back twice. He basically wanted it quickly seared and then served pretty much raw. The only issue was the fact that it was more undercooked than we were supposed to serve, but he finally got what he wanted!
