I know everyone isn't happy with this, but lets not let fear get the better of us. I was very fearful of some of the things former presidents have done and some decisions that were made but we are all still here, so it must not have been too bad right? Let's see what happens before letting doom and gloom set in.

Hoover and then FDR both tried to spend us out of the Great Depression. Lots of economists believe that it made it much worse and lasted longer. Was that better?

If not, how much stimulus was created out of the last round of checks that were distributed last year???

There have been multiple threads on here recently that have pages and pages of better ideas than this ridiculous spending bill.

But HOW? By govt spending. The govt paid for so many ships and tanks and bombs and guns that we all had jobs and the economy flourished.

It took about 20 years to do that. If WWII hadn't happened, who knows how long it would have really lasted.

In 1936 Franklin Roosevelt was reelected president. The New Deal programs continued. But all the New Deal’s laws and programs could not end the depression. In fact from 1937 to 1938 the depression grew worse. It lasted until the beginning of World War II. The huge amounts of government spending on the war effort finally got the economy going.

Dave Ramsey had a good idea that cost about 1/10th as much. Give any company that has a net gain in employment a $20,000 tax break PER employee.

Better Idea #1-Do NOT give a $1,000,000,000,000.00 blank check to a bunch of politicians. They already proved they couldn't be trusted with the $350B bank bail-out that no one can account for and STILL didn't loosen up the credit industry.
