I personally do not know if a stimulus check is the right thing for America today or not. But if the Fed's are giving me "bail-out" money, I'm investing in the "Disney Park Vacation" fund.
:confused3
I know, this isn't a joking matter and I shouldn't kid, but with the Senate returning to session today I say, Let the Countdown Begin. Anyone else thinking this way or am I really that twisted?

Well since our tax money is going to bail every one out from AIG to GM, I guess we should use our "rebate" to help prevent Mother Mouse from needing a bail out as well.:cool1:

I thought the same thing when I heard they want to give $1,000 back to us.

It will pay for 2 new AP's in June

They are just going to waste it anyway, might as well give to us, so we can give it to Disney and help them pay for a new attraction.

The best thing they could do is stay home and leave us alone. They mess up everyting they touch anyway. Ever wonder where they get the money for these "stimulus'"? They are broke so they either borrow it from China (like they did the last one) or tell the Federal Reserve to print more thus devaluing our current dollars.

I love the DIS because for a little while each day I don't have to think about what a nightmare our Government has become. Thanks for reminding me :thumbsup2

Dumb de dumb dumb

What? You ran out of money? Awwwwww don't worry we can always print more. Here ya go, here's $1000 feel better?

Another stimulus payment, horrible idea, so are the bailouts.

Any who, I don't have a problem with folks spending their stimulus checks on their Disney vacation. If you are lucky enough to get a check, then sure go for it.

You guys are TOO funny!!!! I like the sound of it-bail out for us but I know if it happens it will be put to good use here...another Disney trip...sounds tempting.....:goodvibes

A friend of my husband figured out that if they gave each legal working American who has been paying taxes $1 million, it would cost less than the bailouts and would boost the economy like crazy. Can you imagine the cars, DVC memberships, and other great stuff we could all buy?!

Ooh! That would be wonderful! With $2 mil between us we could definitely do some Disney playing! After we paid off our mortgage and home equity loan that is! Maybe spend the time in Disney while waiting for our house to be renovated!

Sorry no stimulus checks this time. President-Elect Obama wants to stimulate the economy the old fashioned way, by building roads, bridges, schools, etc.

I think the friend of your husband should go back to math class. The largest bailout of $700 billion (half of which has not been spent) if given to each and every American would be $2,295.00 and if you only gave it to tax-paying citizens it would be $4,635.00.

If you really wanted to get crazy and add in EVERYTHING, (i.e. like the increased FDIC guaranty at your bank, low interest loan to Citi Group, etc.) it would amount to $56,227.71 per tax paying citizen. But obviously that number is WAY bigger than reality because every single bank account hasn't disappeared and every single corporation that has been given a loan isn't going to go bankrupt. And if they did, you wouldn't be able to buy anything because there would be no economy.

Yep, OP...............that stimulus influenced us quite a bit. When combined with the military discounts this year, we decided to visit in '09. If the 2 situations were not happening, we would be going to our local pool this summer!

That's how we paid for our last Disney trip---stimulus check... my next trip is being paid for the old fashion way, hard work. My DD says that is going to take too long :)

According to the NY Times, there is some sort of tax credit on the table for taxpayers under the 200K mark......500 individual/1000 married. Although, who knows where it will end up. Chopping block? Front page? :confused3

If it *does* come to fruition we will definitely put it towards Disney. We're already booked, so why not. We used the last one for a lovely Canon Xsi. :scared1: Now we need to go somewhere to use it to take awesome pictures. :rotfl:

Ok...must leave this thread before I start thinking about the whole budget/economy/market thing and have a nervous breakdown.

Sorry. I just don't want people to get their hopes up that a check is going to be coming in the mail. Here is the important quote from the article you provided.

Mr. Obama’s advisers said Sunday that they were searching for a way to get that credit into Americans’ pockets quickly to help stimulate spending, but would not duplicate the rebate checks sent last year as part of an economic package signed by President Bush

More likely what will happen is a decrease in the FICA part of your paycheck, which gets the money in your hand quicker and makes you more likely to spend it than save it. It won't be a lump sum, but rather small amounts in each of your paychecks.

EDIT: I am now off to bed. And this really isn't about the Theme Parks.

Stimulus checks are a terrible idea, but if you're lucky enough to get one, you need to spend it. That's what would stimulate the economy (but it's not going to work)

Another check will not help this country. Maybe if they would stop paying congress for not doing their job. If anyone ever watches CSPAN the chambers are more then half empty no one is working. We pay these people why are they not at work?

Maybe they're on vacation? :teeth:

Giving $500 or a $1,000 "stimulus" is rather like using a water pistol to put out a large fire. It sounds good and will make everyone think what a swell guy Obama is. But the Bush one didn't help much--this one won't either.

Putting the $$ toward a WDW trip is as good use of the money as any!!

Like many others, I feel that this is wasted effort on the part of the government. Honesty, there is no quick fix for the economy.

However, if they are going to hand money out hand over fist, they might as well hand some to me. I'll be plenty happy to invest that money in the mouse, just like I did last year :thumbsup2

Well, I guess it's time to email the IDIOT who got re-elected to the Senate from here.

IMHO this burns me up.

We don't have the money. So while you are at Disney be sure your kids enjoy it because they will be paying the bill for this move! When thier taxes are too high to allow them to go to Disney as adults hopefully they will look back on this trip fondly!

SHEESH!

Not to mention that not "Everyone" gets these great checks. My check last time ZERO!!! Why because I make too much money. Of course that means I PAID more taxes and will continue to pay more taxes to fund other folks "free money":confused3
