Due to a job loss, I am going to have to sell part or all of my DVC. I know the Timeshare store is the sponsor here, but I would like a few acutal testemonials of people who have sold their DVC here through the Timeshare store and had a positive (or negative) experience please. Thank you in advance.

I have sold three contracts and bought one through the TSS. Each transaction went off without a hitch. The people there are top notch. They answered all my questions completely and never seemed to be bothered by my phone calls. Call them and ask any questions you may have. You are under no obligation to list with them. If you choose to, you will not be sorry.

...with the Timeshare Store has been great! We sold our VB points in July and are in the process of selling our HHI points. The transaction in July, from start to finish, took approximately 5 weeks. Our current transaction is waiting to pass through ROFR. Anyway, our experience with TTS has been very positive.

Thank you both! Lets cross our fingers on the 5 weeks. I really need the money.

We have purchased once, sold once, and almost purchased once (lost it to rofr). They are top notch.

We have had nothing but great experiences with them with one exception, which we are currently experiencing. Our sale passed ROFR the first week of Sept. and our purchase passed about a week ago. It has been brought to our attention that they use different agents for these transactions. We received our closing papers for the purchase today just barely a week after passing ROFR. We have had to make MULTIPLE calls trying to find out why we have'nt received ANYTHING about closing on our sale. We just were informed it SHOULD be going out soon :confused3 Why is the purchase on the fast track and our sale dragging along and noone giving us any info without repeated calls :confused3 MAybe your experince will go better :thumbsup2

If I ever sell, I will want to use the timeshare store. When I was trying to buy, the TSS agent said my purchase would never pass ROFR if I offered 70.00/point. I went to a different timeshare reseller, offered the 70.00/point and got what I wanted. I thought perhaps the TSS agent was driving the price up for the seller. That is what I would want!

Terry - I am so sorry to hear about your job loss :guilty: . Good luck and hope all goes fast and smooth. I also hope you might be able to keep a small contract for now.

Just had a great transaction with Timeshare Store. Like another poster said, took less than 5 weeks from start to finish. The longest part was waiting for ROFR. Just received our check last week. I only had the contract in for one day before it sold. Very smooth transaction.

Terry, I'm always saddened to hear yet another Michigan job loss story. *sigh* There's just no end in sight to them. :sad2:

My dh was laid off 20 months ago and hasn't had a permanent full-time job since. We sold all 3 of our DVC contracts through The Timeshare Store (the last of which will close next month). Aside from a few "didn't get the email" glitches on both ends (us and the buyers), things went extremely smoothly. In fact, my only real "complaints" (if you could even call them that) were with the closing company they used and not TTSS itself. They initially sent our closing papers via email to an address we told them not to use (documents weren't getting through) and then never bothered to let us know they'd been sent, and then gave us an improper amount on a payoff and then insisted it was our fault. Neither thing was major, just little annoyances.

Before we sold our final (and largest) contract, we did purchase a teeny tiny resale through Disney, just so we could stay in and get a studio every other year. We hope to eventually build our DVC portfolio back up a little (but nowhere near what we had before) if and when things become permanent with my dh's current position.

Best of luck to you -- this business is no fun at all (I called my dh and we had a moment of silence when we rec'd the check from Disney on our last sale -- they ROFR'd) but I hope the sales go quickly for you.

We just sold one of our small contracts and received our check last week. It was sold the day it was listed. Disney did take almost 3 weeks to pass on ROFR and then closing was completed within a week. It was a flawless transactions and would highly recommend them.

Has anyone ever used DVC Resales? What has their experiences been? Slower? Quicker? Less $? More $?

We bought through TTS and I would highly recommend them. When we wanted to purchase, the TTS website was the first to comeup from a Google search, an easy website and even easier company to deal with. From a buyers angle, it was great ( and what a seller would like to hear also)
I hope your job search goes well for you and your family.

Terry: Due to some personal financial challenges (like affording gasoline and home heating oil!) I found I could make my life easier by selling a couple of 50 point contracts I had added on. Plus, the maintenance fees were getting on the steep side. So I contacted the Timeshare Store and was very very pleased with the results. I sold the contracts separately - a couple of weeks apart. Each contract sold the same day I forwarded the signed documents to them (the 2nd one sold within an hour of faxing off the docs). The folks at the Timeshare Store were great to work with. But, be aware that once you have sold your contract(s), the work is then taken over by the Timeshare Closing company. They also were great to work with. I did find myself calling them to check on things and they were always responsive. I think the only negative thing I can say is I did ask in both instances that they let me know when the checks were mailed so I would be on the lookout for them. In neither case did they do that and the checks just showed up in the mail. And, in both cases, after I got the checks I got an email saying everything had closed and I should be receiving my check in the next couple of weeks! To sum it up both companies were great to work with (I don't know if the closing company is actually owned by the Timeshare Store resales). I didn't have any of the hassle of selling, and the whole process was smooth. I definitely recommend them to anyone considering a sale that doesn't either know how (my instance), or just plain does not want to deal with the legal stuff. I'm pretty sure their commission is 10% and from my perspective, worth it.

I have a completely different experience with TTS...

Every step of the buying process was difficult:

- I had to initiate almost every conversation with TTS, no one was proactive in contacting me with information (except Robert, who was great, but he wasn't our agent).

- A request for an overnight delivery of information to us was bungled. The person handling our request simply dropped the envelope into a mailbox because "the mailman didn't come into the office today". So, an overnight package took three days to get to us, making it impossible to return signed contracts in a timely manner.

- When I finally got to fax the signed contract to TTS (I wasn't signing without reviewing all supporting DVC documentation), I included a coversheet with a request for a phone call to confirm receipt (in big bold letters). After two days of not hearing from TTS, I called to confirm they received the fax. The person on the phone told me she did not even look at the coversheet.

- The contract was completely inaccurate, as TTS used an old point usage spreadsheet to confirm the seller actually had the points they were trying to sell. The contract stated all points were available, when in reality almost all points were in hold status and the following use year was stripped. Jason did proactively call me on this one, and accepted complete responsibility for having me sign a stripped contract. He told me Disney was the one to catch the error when presented the contract for ROFR.

- TTS was suppose to call me when they had another, acceptable, contract available. I was told I was "number 1 on the list" when something became available. After three weeks, I got tired of waiting and bought from another company. The other company had a lot of acceptable contracts for my review, I got the resort I wanted, the points I wanted, the price I wanted, and the use year I wanted. (Oh, TTS finally did call....after I signed the other company's winning contract.)

In short, TTS didn't do their homework, they didn't pay attention to detail, and I never received any apology other than a cursory "sorry". They didn't seem too interested in earning my business, so they didn't get my money. I was left with absolutely no level of comfort in using their services.

As a buyer, and as someone working in sales to Fortune 100 companies for years, I've come to expect agents to look out for me when I'm trying to spend about $10,000. I don't want someone sucking-up to me, but I do expect them to do their jobs correctly. TTS' agents have a fiduciary duty to represent the interests of both seller and buyer. In my opinion, TTS failed the buyer.

TTS clearly dropped the ball over-and-over and I'll never use them again for either selling or buying.

I used GMAC and they were excellent!

EMail me and I'll supply the particulars....

How does the financing work? How do the annual dues work? We are looking to purchase also and wondering which co to go with

I recently sold a contract thur the sponsor. It sold within a few hours of listing and the ROFR was about two weeks later. Overall I was very pleased.

Terry! I'm sorry about your job loss :(. We bought both our resales through the TTS and they were great from a buyers standpoint. I am thinking about selling my OKW points when/if the new Contemporary Villas goes on sale, so I have the same question.
