Because of a personal family situation, we are probably going to be forced to sell our DVC points, I don't have the foggiest idea of what is involved.

We have a few points left for this year. however we would like to take one last trip before we have to sell, which means borrowing from next year. How does that affect selling?

I know Disney has ROFR, but what exactly does this mean? I will use the timeshare store to sell the points. What is the general turn around for sales?

Would someone be so kind to explain this all to me in very easy to understand language? I have gone to both website and remain clueless.

Thanks so much in advance,
Kelly

you price them to sale and believe me the turn around is fast - you price them what everyone else is - I don't know maybe a month or two.

Disney can after you agreed to sell your to someone else come in and buy them back - this is not to your advantage - they won't pay the sales commission although it was agreed to in your contract.

Have you considered renting your points until your family situation improves?

You may want to call The Timeshare Store and talk with one of the brokers- they can provide the best information about the sales process. If you borrow points from the next Use Year, it will affect the sale- but still isn't likely to deter your ultimate ability to find a buyer. DVC resales have been very sought after recently. Be sure to actually take your trip though BEFORE listing the sale- since DVC will cancel any existing reservations once the offer is submitted to them for ROFR.

Right-of-First-Refusal (ROFR) simply means that Disney has the opportunity to purchase your contract for the same terms as the offer you have accepted. They have up to 30 days to review and either accept or reject the offer submitted. As the seller, you will get the same amount regardless who ends up as the buyer. If you accept an offer of $71 per point from someone and Disney exercises ROFR, you will still get $71 per point. Any commission agreement you have with the resale broker will still apply- regardless who the buyer may be.

Good luck with your sale!

Thanks so much for the information, it is clearer to me now.

Unfortunately, due to our circumstances, we will most likely have to sell. Renting won't work out well enough.

This is going to really hurt. Hopefully, someday soon, we will be able to buy DVC again. Maybe there will even be some good incentives.
