Selling DVC costs?

How much are the costs for selling DVC and what can you claim back from the US govt?

If I were to sell 200 points at $75 a point = $15000, how much realistically could I look to get back?

The Agent will charge at least 10% for the deal, and the US Government will also take 10% tax on the gross price.

By the time you pay for your legal fees over here and bank processing etc, I would guess that your original $15,000 would look more like £7,500.

Bear in mind that the market is not good for selling at the moment, so you would be unlikely to get your asking price.

The (vicious little) US tax can be reclaimed, but it's complicated and time consuming. Others have done it, so they may be better placed to advise, but when we sold some points a while back, we didn't think it was worth the effort.

Just checked my paperwork,
10% agent fee
10% firpta (claimed back)
Estoppel fee 50
Fee to dvcmc 20
And if you want help claiming back firpta I paid 350

All in dollars.
