Ok, we own at BWV, although we've never stayed there. We either stay at VWL, where we also own, or get BCV at the 7 month mark.

What my wife loves about both the VWL and BCV are all the confortable places to sit and unwind, relax, what have you. At the WL you have the regular lobby, then the lobby of the Villas building, as well as the Iron Spike room. All wonderful places to just sit and relax for a few minutes and soak in the atmosphere or the quiet. Same can be said of the BCV, with the Solarium off the lobby, as well as the TV room in the Villas building and the lobby area leading to the pool. Sure, we may never sit and relax for more than 10 minutes at a time, but having all those places to just do that if desired, all washed in the decor my wife loves, is really nice.

So where do you do that at the BWV? The lobby is relatively small, and Cummunity Hall is for the kids......so where do mom and dad just sit to unwind for a few minutes?

This is what is needed to sell my wife on staying there.

Well, I misunderstood your post. I thought you were trying to sell your wife on the boardwalk. :rotfl2:

If you want some places to relax at the boardwalk here are 5:

1.On your balcony, especially if you have a boardwalk view. Nothing is better than going out on the balcony, either in the morning, afternoon or at night (to see illuminations). We recently stayed in a standard view which overlooked the entrance, but I thought the view was very nice. We were on the 1st floor and the grass and flowers obstructed most of the pavement views.

2. Out on the covered porch right outside the lobby. They have old Fashion rocking chairs which overlook the garden between the Inn and the Villa's. Very nice.

3. Right out on the boardwalk, they have tables and chairs and benches. We spent thanksgiving morning out there-- very nice and relaxing and a great place to watch the boats coming and going.

4. There is a room off the lobby to the left. I think it my be the Belle Vue room (however, I'm not sure)- Its very nice and quiet there too.

5. Community Hall is for kids, but the 2 times we visited it there were more adults there than kids. During the day it was empty and they have a nice TV and chairs. Also outside of the community center there is the quiet pool, which gives you sun and relaxing !!

I just love the boardwalk!!! But I like it more for the hustle and bustle. You should try to stay there at least once. Good luck!

Oh, I've been trying to get my wife to stay there. She just likes BCV and VWL too much.

I hear you about the places you listed to sit, but if you've ever been to/stayed at either the VWL or the BCV you realize they aren't the same as relaxing in the Solarium or the Iron Spike Room ;).

Thanks for the reply.

Selling BWV, that is what the owners there should be doing. Sorry I'm not selling that place to you or your wife.

Your wife has it right, stick with VWL and BCV. BWV is the Ugly Stepchild of DVC with the recent changes.

Bellevue room is what you are looking for. Its over on the Inn side as is a lounge/bar/gameroom. Very nice to hang out in. Never been in there when it isn't fairly peaceful.

I also like to sit on the porch overlooking the Boardwalk in the rocking chairs. To me its the "summer version" of hanging out in the WL lobby.

Sitting out on in the rocking chairs is one of my favorite parts of BWV. We've actually been known to go out there and take a nap. :goodvibes

Yeah, the Bellvue room looks ok, but in the end it just happens to be a bar that isn't used early in the day. You can sit there and relax when it isn't serving drinks (or even when it is) but it still isn't the same.

The BCV and VWL specifically built comfortable, quiet rooms that were put there just for DVC members to be able to sit and relax. While Boardwalk has many places to sit, it's still not the same. At least to my DW ;).

When we stay at the BWV my DW will certainly enjoy the rocking chairs and watching the traffic stroll by on the BW, but she still will long for the quiet, private place to sit and relax.

I suppose the Attic Lounge would have potential to be the quiet place my DW was looking for........if it was open to members......and if it wasn't six and a half miles of hallways from the lobby.

Just curious...what changes? I have never stayed as an owner, but I have always like the BWV. What has changed?

Yea, I thought "Wow. I didn't know that was legal anymore." Honey come here a sec....

See post entitled dissapointing changes at BW on the misc. board.

Many will say I've said enough about it already and they would be right. :goodvibes

Well... We don't go to BWV for the relaxed atmosphere, we go there because of the instant access to WDW and the adult atmosphere. We go to VB or HHI for relaxation. Frankly... to the BWV owners... we all know that our investment dollars have been excellent with BWV. We (DW & I) have unwhittingly made an excellent choice at BWV. After 8 years we could recover all our expenses and have had all our vacation accomodations for free by reselling. We will not sell because we own at the primary key to the kingdom and we understand what this means, but if we had to recover costs because of a bad economic situation... we're in a pretty damn good situation with BWV.

As opposed to E-Bay, I suppose? :rolleyes1

Actually, we find the lobby of BWV to be a nice place to sit and relax. Sometimes it is busy but often there are very few people there, especially if you're not there during the morning when the ME bus pulls up!

I thought the Bellevue room was a great suggestion. During the day, it is very quiet and private (usually empty). But you started with the above question and then got to what seems to be the real issue...a space just for DVC guests.

If the Bellevue room doesn't cut it for your wife, then possibly BWV just doesn't have exactly what she's looking for. I think there are a lot of nice places to hang out, including the benches on the Boardwalk overlooking Crescent Lake.

I know that everyone has their own criteria for what strikes their fancy in a resort, but I don't remember this aspect being the key factor for many others in their resort selections. Don't get me wrong...I think it's great that your wife know what she wants and likes, so my advice would be to stay at BCV where you still have access to the amenities of BWV.

Now... That's just not right, but creative thinking, nonetheless. :thumbsup2

Overall I think the changes are minor but they are likely important to some. While there are many places to sit, read and relax at BWV, they are not of the same type as BCV and VWL.

One place I really like is UNDER the porch off the main lobby. It has chairs there that just call out to me!
