HAS ANYONE HAD A BAD EXPERIENCE, WHILE ON A SEGWAY TOUR, OR HAS SEEN ANYONE CRASH.. I AM GOING ON THIS TOUR IN A COUPLE OR WEEKS WITH MY DAUGHTER I DON'T WANT TO CRASH INTO ANYONE OR ANYTHING... :dance3: :dance3: :dance3: MY DAUGHTER WOULD BE SO EMBARESSED :rotfl: :rotfl2:

You'll be fine. We've been three times and you get a full hour of training before going out into the park. The CMs are great, and if you or they feel uncomfortable at all about how you are doing, they will give you extra help. If after the training you still aren't comfortable and don't want to ride out in the World Showcase, you have the option to opt out.

On two of our tours we've had little incidents where one person in the group had a little spill. Nothing big as you aren't going very fast and you're just a few inches off the ground. Each time was the same cause - not paying attention to where their wheels were and bumping a curb, then overcorrecting with the steering. In one case the person simply stepped off the Segway, and in the other they attempted to do so but didn't let go of the handle and fell to one knee. More a bruise to the ego than a physical injury in both cases. Just pay attention during training and follow the CM instructions and you'll be fine. You'll LOVE it!

I hit the wall of China making a turn of course not going fast. So one of their CM"s that go with you stayed with me. Everyone of our family had no problems. Try it, they let you pratice before you go out that does help.
hope your trip will be wonderful :love: :love: :love: party: party: party:

A family friend did the tour for her birthday. She fell off and broke her arm. Fortunately, she was from Bradenton, FL and after the ER at Celebration Hospital, her son drove her home to her local hospital for surgery. She is fine now. It is not stopping me from trying the tour sometime, though. DH and I plan to do the tour our first child free trip!

what a shame it was her birthday. some people have no problems I went slow maybe too slow then the fast turns in China was tough. Most go through the plants. I am glad I did it still nev :love: :love: party: party: party: party: er again.

Did Disney help her in any way it did shorten her trip.

Well I have a segway story....it wasn't exactly a crash, but my DH and I took the tour about a year ago...as the tour was ending and we were making our way back through the rose bush path on our segways....the one that goes from WS to FW...where there is a lake on one side and then Honey I Shrunk the Audience is on the other side.....well all of a sudden a duck flew right into me!!! I screamed and the duck continued on his journey. The guy behind me said, "You should have ducked!" Ha-Ha-Ha.......I didn't fall off the segway, but I did get shaken up a bit.....it gives DH and I a chuckle every time we think about it.

We did Segway tour of Chicago last fall and it was great. VERY easy to learn and do. Im sure you'll have no problems. I wanted to do the EPCOT tour when we go in November but DD is 14 and you have to be 16. I tried emailing Disney that she had experience but got back a pretty much canned email saying 16 minimum. Will have to return! On our Chicago experience no one wiped out at all.

I am the biggest dork in the world and I managed to complete the Segway tour unscathed. One woman in our group wiped out in Japan (they take you up and over the little pathways near the Yakitori House) but it was not serious. She got up and completed the circuit. They made her fill out some paperwork once we returned to the staging area.

It was fun, but I don't need to do it again. DH is begging to try it again during our Christmas trip. He may be doing it solo....

I hit a column in Italy weaving in and out between them (they have you do this.) I just steped down but I hurt my knee a bit. We have done the tour twice and it is fun!

Our family has done the tour twice now. DH hit the wall by the ramp up in the training room. He only hurt his ego. I almost fell off my segway because I was laughing so hard.

When we got outside a young lady on a Segway behind me freaked out because she had hit her speed limit and the maching does some weird stuff when you do that. She kept leaning forward and the maching kept pushing back against her. She tried to jump off but she was finally convinced to just lean back and the machine would stop fighting her.

In our second tour a woman hit a planter in Japan. She was fine but it was funny because everyone else was in a group listening to the CM and we were basically still.

It is still one of the highlights of our trips! I would love to do it again! :love:

I am what DH likes to call "accident prone" :rolleyes1 During our training I "accidentally" almost ran over our trainer, because, I was nervous, since, I kept thinking that I was either gonna kill someone or myself during our tour :rotfl2: Once I got over my fear (20 minutes into the training) I really, really enjoyed our tour. I am happy to report that not only, I survived without anymore accidents, but, I had an amazing time. However, this woman on our group, who did not have any problems during our training, apparently got over confident and ran into this huge planter when we got outside. We all stood there looking at her, trying to figure out how exactly did she not see this 4 feet tall planter :blush: So, go and enjoy yourself and watch out for those "moving planters" :rotfl2:
popcorn::

thanks everyone I am sure I will have fun Just have to remember to stay away fro planters and the tour guide I have the tour booked for monday the 10th .. Say a prayer for me. hahaha :banana: :rotfl:
