Seen any good movies lately?

I wanted to add that Cinderella Story was cute (predictable, but cute) and Little Black Book was boring.

I had my 15 year old niece over this weekend and we watch a bunch of teenage girl movies. They were:

Ella Enchanted
Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen
Freaky Friday

I had seen Freaky Friday before but it was worth a second watch. I just love Jamie Lee Curtis in that movie, what a hoot.

I expected to like Ella Enchanted and be just o.k. with Teenage Drama Queen, but it was the other way around. Loved, loved, loved Teenage Drama Queen......I felt like the character that Lindsey Lohan played was a lot like I was at that age. We were rolling with laughter, DH even liked it. Ella Enchanted was o.k., not as good as I expected.

I just saw The Girl Next Door I liked it...funny...some crude humor...but a good message I think.

I need to get to the theatre soon...having withdrawls...its been too long since I saw a good one there!

Is this the movie about the US hockey team? I thought I remember someone telling me to get this so my son could watch it.

::yes:: I loved it and I can't stand hockey. I've seen it about 6 times so far. I watch it anytime I'm needing a pick me up.:) The Herby scene is my favorite part of the movie.:) And contrary to what my SO says, I don't watch it just to drool at the guys in the movie (but, that is an added benefit;)).

I love love love Miracle. It's a great movie.

Other good ones: Party Monster, Goodfellas, The Magdelane Sisters, The Prince and Me.

I can't wait to see: Vanity Fair and Maria Full of Grace. I know Maria Full of Grace is out, but not in a theater near me!

I'll add to the chorus on Garden State- saw it this weekend and loved it. Both Zach Braff and Natalie Portman were fantastic. Both funny and touching. At times downright hysterical.

Add Calendar Girls to the list of rentals.

Also can't wait to see Vanity Fair- got a great review in the NYTimes this Sunday.

We have a wonderful thing at the library where you can get new DVD releases for free..

Lets see we have seen

50 First Dates
Secret Window (DH LOVED IT)
Miracle
Freaky Friday
Agent Cody Banks 2
Starsky and Hutch
and a few others I can't remember offhand

One was Teenage Drama Queen.. I just remembered.

Thanks for the continued list. Any comments on the following:

Intolerable Cruelty
Changing Lanes

Is Calendar Girls a guy movie too?

If I remember correctly, I liked both of those. Haven't seen calendar girls, yet. Looks cute tho. ;)

Older movies, how about:

Finding Nemo
Love Actually
Xmen 2
Harry Potter movies
Lord of the Rings movies
Big Fish
Star Wars 1&2

The list could go on.......

Good list! No X-men 1?

Wow, lot of catching up for you to do! I still have lots of movies I want to see too...

These are some of my favs (that I can remember), some of these are older (not sure if they fit in the 2 1/2 year time frame though):
All of the Harry Potter movies
All of the Lord of the Rings movies
My Big Fat Greek Wedding
The Charlie's Angels Movies
The Kill Bill Movies (I actually liked the first one better)
Big Fish (even BF liked this one -- sometimes he just goes along to humor me)
Hero
Spiderman Movies (liked the second one better)
Shrek Movies
Oceans Eleven
Haunted Mansion
Pirates of the Caribbean
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen

That's all I can think of right now...I have such a poor memory! I saw Intolerable Cruelty. I wouldn't say it's a "great" movie, but BF and I enjoyed it. One of those lighthearted ones, which we like. I also rented Something's Gotta Give this past week and I really liked that. A while back, I rented Lost In Translation because of all the hype -- for me, I didn't get it, but others really liked that movie.

Have a good time! Maybe you can post your movie reviews when you're done watching them.
;)
