Sorry if this has already been asked. If there is a tread please link me.

I have not been to WDW for some time. I heard there are new security protocols when going to parks. If so could someone please clarify? I am used to lines outside of park entrances. I heard this has changed?

We will be staying at Shades of Green and often walk to Poly to go to MK. Sometimes we bus to TCC. Also I usually drive to the other parks.

Thankyou

It's quite straight forward. There's a line of security set up before you get to the park entrance. If you have a bag, you'll line up at the bag check stations and security will take a look inside. If you don't have a bag, you'll go in through a different entrance (there's easy to spot signage), where you are highly likely to get directed to drop your wallet and phone in a little bowl and walk through a metal detector. On the other side, you collect your gear and off you go to stand in another line to get to the tapstyles.

So, basically, we've gone from one line to ... two, if you have a bag. The bagless entrance is very quick, and I highly recommend it, whenever possible.

Disney does a great job of sorting everyone and directing them as efficiently as possible. You won't have any difficulty understanding where to go.

Thank you. Is there now security lines at the monorail as well?

If you ride the Monorail from Poly, you’ll be screened before loading. Then when you reach MK, head directly to the touchpoint entrance with no additional screening necessary.

The only change is at MK.

If coming by car and entering from TTC, you go through security at the TTC prior to boarding monorail/ferry

If staying at a monorail resort, you go through security on the monorail ramp at the hotel prior to boarding the monorail.

If coming to MK by bus, you'll go through security after exiting the bus. Right before going into MK

If coming to MK by boat, you'll go through security on the docks after exiting the boat

There is no more screening directly in front of the MK entrance.

Piggybacking my question on here if u don’t mind... My husband is very much the Boy Scout (an Eagle Scout, actually) and he always carries a pocket knife. Will this be confiscated?

According to the Disney Parks' Moms Panel, knives are not allowed.

"Hi, Can I bring a pocket knife to the park to cut fruit etc Is a Swiss Army knife ok? Many thanks!”
Hi, Kerri! No, you will not be allowed to bring your Swiss Army knife into the theme parks. Since no weapons of any kind are permitted, it would be confiscated by security and held until you leave. You can read more about what is not permissible on the Restricted Personal Items webpage. Happy planning and have a Magical vacation!

I'd just leave it in your hotel safe. It's unlikely you'll find yourself needing it in the parks.
