What a great board. Tons of information. We are going to be tent camping (my husband is going thru a "back to nature" phase, LOL) in May at FW.

Let me just say that I have never had any problems with anything being stolen at any campground I've stayed at and I'm not expecting to have any problems at Disney. With that in mind, on our May trip, I will have my laptop with me due to some work stuff I will have do, gotta love those pesky wireless modem connections.

Can anyone tell me if there is a place perhaps in the Reception area where things can be secured? I'd be willing to pay for this service. I just really hate the idea of locking my laptop in a car in the Florida hot sun!

Thanks in advance for any responses & possibly saving me a phone call!

Don't know the answer to your question, sorry, but we are looking at getting a cell phone modem. Mind if I ask, Is that what you have? Do you like it? What phone service do you have? We have a 16 year old male who doesn't want to leave his computer for 2 weeks and I think the cell phone option would be great--if it works!!

We use Verizon. It's $35 plus tax (total $41) to hook to our laptop. Be sure you get a phone that is computer capable. We bought a Kyrocera..and I love it. I had to purchase Mobile Office software and conncetion..about $70.
We use it during our 3000 minute a month time...nights, weekends and some holidays. Also we have 300 a month to use anytime..so if I need a daytime "fix" I can get it. It' sa lot slower than my cable, but not too bad, unless you plan on going to a lot of very graphic sites. You must have digital connections (which we don't have in all places in the NY Adirondacks..bummer), to use the modem part of your phone.

They did use to have a lock up where you check in at the campgrounds..real pain however to go back and forth..although if you are camping, you prob have a car. The hours weren't real late either, to get it back. We don't camp there anymore, so I don't know if they still do.

DMRick: thanks for the phone/modem info!

I don't have a answer to your ?
If you want to use your laptop for a short time go up to check-in and there is a place to plugin.

Thanks DMRick for responding to the modem question. I got tied up with RL stuff & just got back to check for responses to my question. It's also great to know that I can plun-in somewhere if my connection doesn't work!

Again, Thanks!!

I got this reply from WDW:

While we appreciate your interest, please know that the safety deposit boxes
available at The Fort Wilderness Resort are not large enough to accommodate a
lap top. However the front desk staff would be willing to hold it for you .

We hope this information is helpful, and we look forward to future opportunities
to entertain you.

If you have questions or need further assistance, feel free to contact us.

Please include your full name, E-Mail address, and reservation number if
applicable on all correspondence.

Thank you!
