Secrets & Little Known Facts about rides

On Dinosaur when in line the lights flicker to suggest power surges. This is for effect when the ride is not properly working the lights become constant in their brightness.

I saw the MK camel spitting at people! Is it something guests can control - from an unseen location of course?!:rotfl:

Behind the "Fountain Of Nations" at EPCOT, there is a large EPCOT logo. This logo marks the geographical center of the Disney property.

The scene in Spaceship Earth with large computers. There is a woman with a legal pad. She was originally in the Horizons ride. (I forget where right off)

In the Backlot Ride at MGM, look above in the warehouse, you will see 2 or 3 Purple/Pinkish tone canisters. These were originally in Horizons.

For EPCOT's 25th annaversary, a mini museum of Disney's history was installed. (I happened upon it one day trying to get out of the heat)

If I think of more, I'll post them.

Former CM here.

At Dinosaur in AK, if you look at the White, Yellow and Red tubes that run along the the top are of the vehicle loading area you will see the chemical formula for Mayo, Mustard and Ketchup spelled out on the appropriately colored tube.

As McDonald's was the attractions's opening sponsor, it fit.

I actually ate lunch with the imagineer that put that in. He also told us that on one of the crates by the bone excavation place he put the initials R.D., which stands for Rocket Dog, his dog's name.

Yes its VERY true, also nearby are tiki heads that do the same thing. When someone good is controlling the camel its hilarious to watch people get hit on top of the head with water and look around for the person spraying them.

I've gotten spit on by the camel AND the tiki heads. LOL must be me. :p

:hyper: OK - I have to add my 2 cents...
At the end of the ToT ride, as an homage to the original Twilight Zone TV show, there are several props representing the episodes scattered around the room. You only have a moment to look around before the doors open, but the ones that I remember are:

* A slot machine (The Fever - about a "one armed bandit" which haunts a man)
* A small flying saucer (The Invaders - Agnes Moorehead battles small Martians)
*A ventriloquist dummy (The Dummy - a dummy is, of course, alive)

I'm sure there are more, but I am am usually catching my breath and don't take the extra time to look. Both unload rooms have different props. One of these days, I'm sure I will spot a cookbook with the title "To Serve Man":hyper:

There is a broken pair of glasses resting on a pile of books to represent the episode an avid reader came upon the ruins of a library after a nuclear holocaust only to break his glasses.

I am VERY scared of dolls/dummies/puppets, and I remember my very first ride on ToT, I was only 9 and our vehicle got stuck at the bottom for quite awhile before the doors opened. And that DANG DUMMY was right next to me staring at me! For me, it was the scariest part of the ride! :rotfl: Add to that the teenage boys who were behind me saying that the other elevator was going to fall on top of us, and it's a wonder I ever rode it again (but it's still one of my favorite rides!).

You have to put your hand at just the right spot, though, so if it doesn't work at first, just try a bit. Clearly it's got a motion sensor somewhere.
There's no motion sensor. :)
Yeah - Like Frenchy said - it's kind of an "abstract" Donald! (As in, it takes a little imagination!) It's more of his Hat, Eyes & beak! There used to be 2 Chairs in the HM - One in the Library & one in the long hallway room/thingee. They do move them from time to time though!
As mentioned earlier, there is no Donald, abstract or otherwise. There is an abstract face there -- it's one of dozens (if not hundreds) hidden in the ride, to give Guests a feeling of being watched. But it's not Donald, it was never intended to be Donald, and never will be.

The chairs aren't moved except to be refurbished. Apparently they're favorite targets for uncouth expectorating guests.

The camels at the Flying Carpets of Aladdin and the "Leaky Tikis" are completely random and not controlled by Guests or CMs.

"To Serve Man" is there! Not in the unload room, however. It is in the far left library where you see the Rod Sterling pre-show. I was so excited when I spotted it for the first time! I've tried so many times to get a pictures of it but between the dim lighting and crowds, I've never captured it and I'm determined to get a pic when I go again in 12 days! I'm hoping I can get a CM to help me or point out more things.

That thing from the wing of the airplane in the TZ movie isn't in there is it? :scared:

Sorry for the misprint. I guess I assume you guys are smart enough to know what I am talking about without the petty criticism. :confused3

Your welcome for my contributions to this thread by the way:sad2:

Thing is - you were right:

These are GREAT!!! Thank you all for letting me see inside your heads!!
I can't wait to go and check all this out. I feel like I have been oblivious to all of the finer details.

Found these ones on a website so they are their words, not mine:

In the "Waiting Room" queue area in the Frontierland Staion of the WDW Railroad, there is a shelf which contains unclaimed luggage. Among the items is an antique wooden leg, with the name "Smith" written on it. A clear reference to the Wooden-Leg-Named-Smith joke from Mary Poppins.

Big Thunder Mountain actually has a storyline to it. The mountain received it's name from an old Indian tale warning that if anyone was to deface this sacred mountain, a huge disaster would occur. The beginning of the ride is to show the natural beauty of the mountain and it's caverns. Yet it becomes pretty obvious that miners have now taken over the once peaceful mountain. The Indians' warning becomes reality when a huge earthquake strikes. The same storyline follows in WDW, with a flood replacing the earthquake.

On Peter Pan's Flight, the scene in which Peter, Wendy, John and Michael begin their flight from the nursery over London--look down at the street. One of the cars...the red one...looks a little like Mickey's car.

In the Muppets preshow, there is "A-Net Full-of-Jello." Put it together and you get a pun on the name of an original, famous Mouseketeer!

The lights also flicker intentionally in Frontierland.

Heard but not verified... in the queue for Pirates of the Caribbean, two pirates playing chess have turned to skeletons... the game is unfinished because it's a stalemate.

Haven't read fully thru yet to see if this was resonded to...but yes, it's a stalemate....that is the 'story' behind that scene.

Wow! There are some great inside tips that have been shared. Thanks to all that have contributed and keep them coming! :cool1: It makes the upcoming trip even more magical!

I have to disagree with you there, the tikis maybe but not the camel, I've seen the camel turn away from someone when they looked and proceed to nail them in the head when they turned away. If a randomized computer can do that then Disney has invented technology that not even the government can imagine.
