Secrets & Little Known Facts about rides

I don't blame you for being irritable- I am legally blind ( I can see with proper eyewear but am almost completely night blind- if there are bright lights in the dark it completely blocks off any vision I may have and gives me migraines) I also have the luck of have some minor hearing disabilities so when people are chattering away on a ride I can't hear what is going on. Very frustrating. I have 4 children and I think that if they can sit queitly through a ride so that I can enjoy it then others should be able to be considerate also....after all they are adults y'know.

I do think that is really cool that alot of the people on this thread have had awesome CM's that have found ways for them to take pics!! WDW is the best at going out of their way to make someone's day that is for sure!! I have always wanted a pic of the Madame Leota Ball....

This wasn't directed at me, but this is one of the reasons I try to travel in the slow seasons. I have actually caught Journey Into Imagination w/ Figment on a trip about a year ago and the ENTIRE ride was empty! I mean EVERY SINGLE red car in the WHOLE line-up was empty. There was ONLY our family in the center car! I got lots of good pictures during that one of the upside down room and such! We were planning an upside down room in our extreme home, but it never panned out. It's still not out of the question yet though!
I agree. There is NOTHING more annoying than some flash happy inconsiderate person (biting tongue to use OTHER words) who ruins the whole ride with bright flashes! Oh, and I don't care if it is JUST a power light on your camcorder... If it's a dark ride then there should be NO lights from ANYTHING other than those that were designed to be there by Disney!

Now back on track:

At the Walt Disney World Resort, more than 3,500 different designs make up a working wardrobe of about 2 1/2 million pieces. Yet no one wears a uniform. Every 'cast member' dons a "costume" -- and a smile -- every day.

Saw "Push"last week. The man doing his voice and controls stood about five feet away. You would think he would try to be alittle more hidden. I like to try and find them but with dark sunglasses, speaking into his hand, and his other hand inside a bag on his side he kind of stood out.

I have always though that the operator should be talking through a cell phone. It would be so natural that it might be hard to pick him out.

-In Disneyland (not sure if they changed this, been a while), if you look upstairs near the castle (on the back). Can't remember exactly which window but the witch from Snow White opens the curtains every so often to look down on everyone.

I used to LOVE this when I went to DL because no one else ever noticed and I loved to point it out to everyone. I have a great picture of it, but I have to find it and scan it onto my computer. I haven't been there in years, though, so I'm not sure if it's been changed, either. When I went, it was above Snow White's Scary Adventures (I believe). The best way to see it was standing right outside of Peter Pan's Flight.

I can't believe I just sat here (I'm at work.....although I have stopped reading to actually work several times) and read all 40 pages. Love it all!! Won't be planning a trip for a while, but sure wish I was!!

Two crates near the Jungle Cruise exit are addressed to Kenneth Annakin and Thomas Kirk, Esq. Ken Annakin was the director of Disney's 1960 feature film "Swiss Family Robinson", which starred Disney Legend Tommy Kirk.

The voice of the Genie (from "Aladdin") that is heard nightly during Wishes and Spectromagic is not Robin Williams, but Dan Castellaneta. Best known as the voice of Homer Simpson, Castellaneta also voiced the Genie in the Aladdin animated TV series, the feature film "Return of Jafar", and the "Kingdom Hearts" video game.

Professor Cumulus Isobar, the ill-fated rainmaker seen in the town of Tumbleweed at Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, was modeled after Disney Legend Marc Davis.

My kids thought it was so cool to see the talking trash can! The he talked to them! Holy cow! I briefly looked for someone, but like the PP, it would ruin the effect. They are still amazed at it knowing thier names and holding a conversation with them. :cloud9:

My kids had the best time with one of those at AK the last time that we went!!

This is an awesome thread! Thanks for sharing. Sorry that I don't have any to share at the moment but will post when I do.

That was PIPA, the talking recycling bin. Unfortunately, PIPA "retired" in February and no longer appears.

Awww. PIPA brought SO much joy to my DS on his 4th birthday. PIPA spent at least 10 minutes singing various songs to DS. DS spent the rest of the day poking his head into "real" trash and recycling cans after that encounter (ewww).

Well, there's one magical WDW experience I'm glad we had before it retired.

We have had that experience as well. We were kind of freaked out walking into the building because we were not even sure it was open. There was absolutely NOBODY but the CM's in the building. So just the two of us went on the ride and it was really cool.

I had a similar experiance...during the year of a million dreams..we were selected, along with about 998 other "friends" to be able to stay in the park an extra hour after it closed....was on Pirates all alone....no other people in sight in front or behind us...(don't tell anyone, but got some great pics that night) :thumbsup2

On the Jungle Cruise, when you come across the three natives, listen very closely. One of them really loves Disco.

As a former Jungle Skipper, I can verify this one is true.
We got to listen one time when the ride was dark (closed)
Its' the very last thing they say....

Another Jungle Cruise insider knowledge, if you hear the Jungle skippers yell out
"Clear!" or "We're Clear", or "All Clear"
It means there's a hot girl near by.
(at least that what it used to mean before Jungle Cruise went Co-ed)

Another Jungle Cruise one....
Back when they still had the Head Hunter Salesmen (this summer when we visited he was gone.)
His name was Chief Namee. Because they wrote the script for the ride but couldn't come up with a good name for him so the script read....."Over here we have our friend Chief (name). Today he's offering a special deal....
Skippers just read and memorized it litterally and it became Chief Name'
