Secret Jeep Wrangler Society???

We miss our Wrangler so much. Yes the wave thing is totally there, and my husband also used to wave when in our minivan and I used to laugh at him. He always thought the van needed a "my other car is a jeep" bumper sticker

Ahhhhh, the Wrangler wave. How I miss it! I owned a Jeep Wrangler for 3 years, recently gave it up because it wasn't very comfortable (or economical) for my 11 hour drives home from Cincinnati (and my fiance's mustang was even more uncomfortable). The only thing is girl's my age NEVER waved back. But I still waved to them!! :wave2: :wave2:

I read a manual on the wave once. There is a pecking order for Jeep's too! The people that absolutely have to wave first are the people with stock Jeeps (nothing done to them), if two Jeeps are passing each other the less dirty of the two has to wave first (the muddier the Jeep the higher up you are!), if you have your top down and so does an oncoming Jeep if they have their doors off as well as having their top down, you have to wave first, it goes on and on!

Or at least that doesn't have as much POTENTIAL for issues
hahaha JEEP= just empty every pocket

Ya mean I can wave to other mustang drivers. I wonder where mine falls on the pecking order for that. Since it's probably down there all the better mustangs ride by and don't bother to wave, hahaha

the way to wave is just lift your fingers not your hand off the wheel no eye contact is needed :)

So true!! You can always tell the completely clueless (or just new Jeep owners) as they are the ones lifting their whole hand up, shaking it vigorously back and forth, grinning ear to ear, while staring at you for five minutes. :lmao:

It was the same way when my DH had his H-2. All of a sudden everyone seemed to have one and they all waved to each other. I thought it was corny but they apparently didn't!

Yes it's a secret shhhh :) No really we own 3 jeeps (hence the name). One Wrangler,a Liberty and Grand. Wrangler owners are notorious for "The Wave". As an owner you are now obligated to wave back and even intiate a wave. Tricked out Wranglers (modified to go off road seriously) may not wave to you because they may think you're a newbie and don't know about it or that your stock (have no mods) and not worthy. Please please keep the wave up. The proper way to wave is with your left hand on the wheel with2-4 fingers lifted. I'm surprised your salesman didn't not tell you about this-but then maybe that dealership isn't into the Jeep thing as much.
Also go to the Jeep website and check out the Jamborees. They are sooo much fun and you will learn so much about your Jeep. We've been to a lot in Kentucky. And once a year they have Camp Jeep (I think it's in Wisconsin in Aug). We also belonged to a Jeep Club when we were in Ohio. We've had so much fun with our Jeeps-I hope you will too.

It's a Jeep thing You wouldn't understand

My DH has a wrangler. They don't really wave just point. It kind looks like a J to me. Index finger and thumb pointed at the other driver. Hey its a jeep thing.

We are actually going to Camp Jeep this year. DH has owned 3 Jeeps, but this is his first time to Camp Jeep and he is so excited! Who would have thought Camp Jeep would be our first trip without the kids in 16 years?

Guess we'll have plenty of waving to do! :wave2:

We have a jeep cherokee (sp?) and when we first bought it we noticed more people would wave then they do now. Ours is not stock it has bigger tires, bars, a huge metal bumper that is impervious to everything and a bunch of other stuff. So my DH gave up waving in it a long time ago. Even when we go off roading no waves.

NOw our mini cooper s came with a guide on the correct way to wave. We notice that most mini owners wave or blink the lights. I love it, reminds me that not all of the other drivers out there are horrible.
so :wave2:

And that would be me, lol :rotfl:

There's a secret Honda Element club too! And yeah, DH would wave from the minvan, forgetting he wasn't in his Element. :)

There was a parade in my little town this week, and there were four or five Jeep Wranglers right in a row. I thought that was a little strange but that they must belong to some club. So, if I got a few friends with our Dodge mini-vans together, would we be parade worthy?

lol :teeth:

Us Hummer owners also wave to each other and usually with all our fingers too. Jeeps may not get the same wave.

That reminds me that I still have to put the sticker in the back window. Jeep Recovery Vehicle

Yep, dh has a jeep. It's a jeep thing................

Aaahhhh the jeep wave

It is a jeep thing for sure, and like someone else mentioned, so is Just Empty Every Pocket! And I should know, we have 2 Jeeps right now, my Cherokee and DH's Scrambler (don't tell, but I also just bought a Corrolla for the MPG  ). The Cherokee has a little lift and slightly bigger tires but still mom-friendly to drive. The Scrambler on the other hand, I wouldn't try driving it for all the tea in China! DH is a pro though, he's great

The Jamboree's are great fun. My DH and another guy put on the Mohawk Trail Jamboree for numerous years. Sadly, that one is now closed, but the one in Maine is awesome too. Big shout out to D & J who put it on (won't mention their actual names in case they don't want to be on the net!). You should really check one out. Completely family friendly and you'll never meet a bunch of nicer people :woohoo:

Thanks everyone!! I was telling my dh last night that there is in fact a "jeep thing" going on! So, tonight we are going to look up the jeep jamborees and see what we can find! It sounds like fun!! Of course he tells me that he so the most coolest jeep today...big tires, lift kit, blah, blah, blah, lol. I just shook my head and said, "ok, maybe in a couple of years.."
So, as for now, we are members of the "jeep thing" lol :teeth:

This is so funny...my girlfriend went through a sort of mid life crisis and bought a jeep...not practical for having 2 kids. We get waved at all the time. It has been almost a year and we still laugh. My SO has a harley and the same thing happens. I think it is great.

They sell these bumper stickers on the Jeep Jamboree website:

We don't have a Wrangler, but a grand cherokee. Not quite the "cool" factor, but we love it. Actually went to a jamboree with it (and our 3 kids!) and took it off road. We stuck to the easy trails (as the guys checking us in put it, "you can go anywhere you want, but you WILL do body damage."

Our next major "fun" purchase will be a Wrangler. So we can REALLY go Jeepin'. Can't wait to be part of the waving Jeeper club!

That's great! If you are from N.H. then the Maine one wouldn't be too bad of a drive, relatively speaking. Just go the Jeep website and you can get to the Jamboree page from there.

Funny story....We went to the Maine Jamboree a few years ago with our boys who were about 8-12 year old range. Anyway, it is in October and our Jamboree was like a week or two later. You have to understand that our Scrambler has no real top. It has a bikini top and half doors. It is October in Bethel, Maine. When we started for home it was snowing! Now, I am not a bad mother. The kids (and us) had on all type of outdoor clothing and blankets around us. We probably looked pathetic  Actualy, I know we did.

A friend of ours (who our boys had just met that weekend) who helps us at our Jamboree had been at this one also. He was trailering his Jeep down to our house and passed us. A few miles down the road he is pulled over so we stop to make sure everything is ok. He says yes, but would the boys and I like to ride with him in his truck instead of in an open top Jeep in the freezing cold and snow.

Being the gracious wife that I am, I said no thank you, I would stick with my DH. The boys on the other hand were out of the Jeep and into his truck like a shot :rotfl2: This really nice man has never had kids, and my kids were fairly shy at the time, but they all made it from Maine to Mass. with no problems. Very nice people, these Jamboree folks!
