Second guessing hotel choice!

Life is too short to stress about this kind of stuff....

You did the right thing and have a decent hotel to stay at. Are there better? Yup, would it be cooler to stay there? probably.....would you hate yourself once the trip is over and you have to pay off that credit card? YES.

If it's any comfort, we can afford to stay anywhere and will NOT stay at the Disney hotels....it's simply insane pricing designed to sucker people in convinced that they are not getting the full "Disney" experience unless they stay at one of their hotels.

The magic is the parks, not the beds.
For light sleepers, or folks with pain (especially back issues) the beds can make or break a trip! That is always my first question when someone says they liked a hotel or motel, "How we're the beds?" I will pay more to sleep comfortably. Speaking of this, for those who have stayed at multiple locations off-site but across the street, who has good beds over there? We stayed at the Castle Inn years ago and the beds dipped in the middle, we had a good laugh the first night, but nobody was laughing after that.

I really want to..... but I won't. :lmao:
My thought exactly!

I stayed at this hotel about 13 years ago when it was called Saga Inn. I felt it was really run-down but the walk to the park couldn't be beat. Plus, I know that they have remodeled since I stayed there. All of the affordable hotels around DL are pretty much run-down. (they are old hotels) We just stayed at the Annabella (high rated) during Christmas week and it wasn't that great but it worked. The difference between this hotel and the other hotels is this one is REALLY close to the park entrance which makes it easier to go back to your room and go back. I think its a good choice to just know that you are close to the inside of DL.

I suggest that you do not read any reviews after you purchase something. It can be torture!

I also forgot to mention the pool which is awesome, and they have a free continental breakfast.

We have our first trip in July & we booked BW Stovall's Inn. I try not to keep reading about the motels 'across the street on Harbor" I don't know why I worry about the walk(influence about postings of how many minutes). We live in Pittsburgh, PA where there is no such thing as a flat side walk. We are always walking up hill. In our neighborhood we walk every where (right now in the snow & wind chills of -1). I walk our brittany spaniel for 45 minutes or more. My DH laughs when I showed him footage of the walk from Stovall's Inn to GCH. Really? Nicely landscaped flat side walk in the summer CA sun & I am worried. We got Southwest bonus points & AAA discount for the motel. We can deal with that walk.;)

Magalex, we stayed at the Anabella on Katella which is a tiny bit closer to the parks than Stovall's. Ive been to Pitt years ago and there's a lot of hills and mountains. This is a straight walk on a nice sidewalk. Our walk to the parks was about 15 minutes, but its really enjoyable. The landscaping can't be beat and you can see some of the rides in DCA when you walk. The landscaping Disney did is absolutely wonderful. I love the smell of the foliage and the palm trees are absolutely perfect...every one of them are almost identical. I made a joke that Disney probably cloned them.

Ok thanks I will be dreaming of palm trees in the dead of winter. Is it July yet?:yay::hourglass

I stayed at BWPPI last year and the beds were comfortable.

This year we are trying out Desert Inn & Suites as we can spread out a bit more with the C1 Family suite and we will each have a bed. Hopefully the beds are comfy. I heard that someone thought they were hard/firm.

At that point we'll probably be wishing for a good "home cooked" meal! I love Italian food, seafood and we also like meat/potato/salad type places. But, actually I'm open to most anything!!! Thanks for your help!

Well you'll definitely find some great Seafood places!

My recommendations for sea food would be Brophy Brothers or Fish Enterprise. Brophy brothers is on the harbor (not the wharf) and Fish Enterprise is just a block or so up from The Wharf.

For steak and seafood I would also recommend Chucks Waterfront if you all want to dine with a ocean view or Chucks of Hawaii which is their original location.

Pascuci is very popular for Italian and is right on State St in the heart of downtown. There is seating outside as well which is really fun for people watching. ;)
