Second contract

I was talking about characters, they are most certainly people in costumes.

Now you got me curious what this performance was… who was doing the singing, when you say Coco, do you mean the kid? (Not Ernesto) And was it the song “remember me” ?
Yeah but Disney fans like characters and dont see it like that, even though thats what it is, meeting characters is very popular even for adults. I guess some Disney fans can not like characters, but Disney is about cartoons characters so I dont really understand that.

The song was remember me and it wasnt the kid. I want to say it was the original singer but im not sure and that could be inaccurate. DVC had it in their story a little bit ago. The member cruises have a lot of unique performances like that, reminds me of D23.

What if I don’t have my resale points loaded by December 10? Do They have a way of verifying that you are waiting to become a member? I see that they take forever with resales
They wont know until your title company sends them the info after you close to transfer it into your name. Thats another waiting game for them to do all that.

How do you like owning at AKL? Do you ever try to book the first or second week of December?

Just how difficult is it to book with the 11 month advantage for week one or two in December? I’ve been reading that it’s one of the most popular times in WDW!!
Unlike some others in this thread I’ve owned DVC over a decade, my first home resort was AKV & most of my visits there have been in Dec., either early Dec. or late Dec. including New Year’s Eve. We book 1 or 2 br.s & like Jambo & yes I’ve needed to book at 11 months to reliably get what I wanted for our 10+ day holiday reservations 🤷‍♀️.
Not really a question but I need more points so how should I get them? Direct or indirect ? SSR or Poly?
I suspect you’ll not like my approach because it’s not exciting & there’s a good dose of delayed gratification involved, but here’s what I did :).
First, DVC was very much a luxury discretionary spend for me, thus I didn’t buy in until I was maximizing my tax deferred retirement contributions, had reserves to fund college for my son & had built up enough spare cash in my account to pay cash for each contract I bought w/out dipping into my ‘emergency’ funds.
My goal was to spend less going forward than I had been spending on deluxe resorts at WDW. I also abhor paying interest when by waiting a little while I can pay cash & invest the difference, thus enhancing future me’s ability to pay for all the other expensive things involved in visiting WDW.
My first contract was AKV resale - it had enough points that through banking & then borrowing I was able to get 3 years worth of 1 br. stays to enjoy AKV & to do a few split stays & try out my maybe next contract resorts before I really ‘needed’ more points. Meanwhile the spare cash in my account had accumulated enough to buy contract 2 - that took a while because VGF (the ‘next resort’ I liked best) just didn’t have many resale contracts on the market & they weren’t selling it direct (this is before they converted Big Pine Key to DVC,) but I finally found one that matched my use year & was about the size I wanted.
I’ve since added on at each of my home resorts, mostly to take slightly longer vacations & now, after the fun we had last month when I treated my extended family to a week in a 3 br. GV at AKV, I may need to add on yet another small AKV resale to cover return GV visits every 3 years 😂.
I think in my DVC acquisition journey I’ve been the tortoise in the tortoise & the hare race - I’ve slowly & steadily accumulated the DVC portfolio that suits me 🤷‍♀️.

I think Poly direct will be great for you. Then you can access all the resorts, past and present, have monorail access, guarantee yourself a good resale if you decide to sell down the line, and blue card perks, such as they are. I like your AK as SAP+. I know the dues are higher because of the animals, but AKJ/AKK are really special, and Jambo at Christmas, the tree and animal gingerbread are GORGEOUS. If you like Wilderness Lodge at the holidays, I think you'll be thrilled with AKJ at the holidays as well. Throw in best food on property, and it's really nice. As well, we love the quiet of the resort during a busy season.

Congratulations! Can't wait to hear when your dashboard is loaded.

We absolutely bought where we wanted to stay and I have zero regrets. Having the 11 month priority at multiple resorts was a key factor for us. We also wanted a diverse "portfolio" in regard to MK Resorts and Epcot resorts as we usually like to do split stays; we'll mainly just visit MK when we're staying near there and we'll mainly just visit Epcot/HS when we're staying near there.

I will say that the this way of doing it makes the 7 month window rather boring and uneventful lol. :D

What about when they re-do the 2042 contracts? I’m sure they will put restrictions on them.
Yes, those will be “new ones” if they even redo the contracts for the current resorts, they may just tear them down and build something new.

Disney is about cartoons characters so I dont really understand that.
I get that it all started with a mouse (or technically a rabbit), but Mary Poppins is not animated, & I think there is a lot more to Disney than just animation (not saying it isn’t a huge part).
I’m a big fan of Cars, but not Lightning McQueen, I’m a huge fan of the Jungle Book, but not Mowgli, etc, etc. maybe I’m the odd duck, but to me it’s all about the story telling over the actual characters in the story (animated or not).
Tomorrowland, & Adventureland have huge stories and vibes attached to them without a character needed… although I do like the movies related to them (Jungle Cruise, Pirates, Tomorrowland, etc)

Not trying to argue, just putting my opinion out there for conversation sake. 8-)

My big question to myself is still direct vs indirect..the 45k price tag hurts lol
You dont have to buy all those points direct, just buy the 150 for direct benefits and the rest resale if price is a concern, I think thats what most people do and what im def going to do.

You do not need to spend 45k to own a direct contract, you can make your direct purchase way lower with incentives and buying the minimum as others have said

If buying PVB this does not necessarily make sense while PVB is in active sales.

The delta between PVB resale and direct is negligible when you consider 300 points will get you a better incentive tier and the ability to have 300 points to book one-bedrooms at any restricted resort which is @melissa70 's current plan. 150 direct won't do much for one-bedrooms at Riviera. Plus you can sell all 300 back for MB and have DVC book you a Welcome Home stay with 300 points. DVC won't touch old points for Welcome Home.
