We had the wonderful opportunity to attend the opening night of Disney on Ice at the Time Warner Cable Arena on Wednesday. FELD Entertainment, the Creators of the Disney on Ice Worlds of Fantasy Show gave the Make A Wish Foundation of Cental and Western North Carolina 200 tickets, which they gave to the wish kids and their families.
They had a very special "Opening Cerermony" at 4:00 p.m. The Wish kids were able to meet and take pictures with the ice skaters and then Lightning McQueen and Mater from Disney Pixar's Cars movie came out. Sebastian was in heaven!!! He could barely contain himself while he waited to meet them!
The Cars' mouths moved and they were able to speak and crack jokes.
After the ceremony we were escorted into the arena and taken upstairs to a lounge type area. There were refreshments, cookies and rice krispy treats. Again the kids were delighted because we let them go crazy and eat whatever. One of the Make A Wish directors gave him a second Krispy treat and he was thrilled.
Then another special surprise! Mickey Mouse came in to say hello! Sebastian was so excited! He jumped out of his seat and got in line to take pictures with Mickey. The HUGE smile on his face as he talked and posed with Mickey just melts my heart! He even tried to show Mickey that he was wearing Mickey Mouse shoes. He told him we were going to come and see him in "Teptember" (December).
He waited patiently until all of the other wish kids had a chance to meet Mickey and then he ran back over to him and gave him several hugs. He did not want to let go. I think he would have liked for Mickey to come home and live with us!
These are all seperate hugs! He kept going back for more until Mickey had to go get ready for the show.
The show did not start for another two hours so we walked around the arena. We looked at all the beautiful princess items that were on display. Siennah was so excited about the princess stuff as you can see in the photo of her with Snow White's dress.
We made our way to our seats and bought some dinner from the Concessions. All of the Make A Wish familes were seated together in the same great section. We had a chance to meet and talk with them. Many I recognized from pictures at Clinic or I had been following their stories on Caring Bridge. It was great to be able to share a hug in person.
We were really happy to be able share the night with our good friends and neighbors; the Mondos. They recentlt got the fabulous news that their daughter Abbie's wish is being granted. Weare so excited for her to get to meet Cinderella! I told Kellie all about the wonderful DISers.
Our kids love the Mondo girls and Savannah was quite contend to be held by Kellie.
