Hello!

We’re looking at booking a DVC rental for our next trip, which we’ve never done before as it all seemed so overwhelming! But this time round, it’s hard to argue against it for what we’re saving vs the hotels.

I know from reading around DVC guests/renters still get free parking, ADRs at 60 days and EEH, but haven’t been able to find much info on the newer ways of working. Does anyone know if we still get the 7 day advance access to buy/book LLMP and ILLs? Have experience of the process?

Also… do we just check in at the resort check-in desks (or through the app) as usual?

Thanks in advance!

As far as “perks”, really just free self park up to two vehicles. (Any guest, including renters, staying on points). WDW resort stays currently don’t charge it. Comes in handy at Disneyland or Aulani, where there are hotel guest parking fees.

Everything you normally experience staying on property is the same. It’s by your reservation stay and resort category, not for staying on points. (All DVC locations are considered “deluxe”, for the park extended hours).

Points are rented. You will get a reservation number. You add the number into your Disney account. You see it as a regular stay. You check in & check out the exact same you normally do.

Where it will feel strange, the DVC member providing the points, controls the reservation throughout. They keep it on their online “dashboard”. They still have the “modify” and “cancel” controls. They are the contact person to member services, not you. (Have protections if go through a rental company. Private renting is risky. Know or trust the renter member if go that route).

Stays on points at WDW covers the taxes. Getting the $0 receipt at check out makes DVC nice. (Fees/Dues are pre paid yearly. DVC is a vacation savings plan. Not much more than that. Members pay about $10 per point yearly (each resort has own dues amounts) & rent for closer to $20). Members did pay a very large chunk up front when purchased, which renting also helps to cover).

Also, the DVC member controls the guest entries, (making any changes to names or to the “lead” guest). Very important issue is they also control any special requests you would have. (Room location etc). The member contacts DVC member services. ***it’s only a request. Not a guarantee***

Hope this helps you or anyone else reading this to feel less overwhelmed by this process. It’s a very good way to save.

DVC Members can make a reservation at 11 months out, at a resort they own points. To use their points at other DVC resorts, they must wait until 7 months.

We rent DVC points most trips, last year at Grand Floridian. You get exactly the same perks as any other deluxe resort guest who have a resort reservation via Disney or travel agent. Free resort and theme park parking, EEH, 7 day access to LLMP and LLSP, 60 +10 day for dining reservations, early park entry etc. Once we pay the balance the booking can be linked in the app, and you can check-in online if you wish. One difference is DVC official check-in is 4pm, as opposed to 3pm for resort rooms. Ours was available at 1.45pm last year though.
