Where can I find out about the different programs at Seaworld? I can't find that much on the homepage.:confused3

What do you mean by programs at Seaworld? If it is things like the Marine Mammal Keeper Experience or the Sharks Deep Dive that you are looking for, then check out www.seaworld.org

Oh I didn't know that it was the same as Behind The Scene. Trainer for a day, is that only in DC?

Trainer for a Day is only at Discovery Cove. Seaworld has the Marine Mammal Keeper Experience instead. They also do the Beluga Interaction Program and Sharks Deep Dive. They also have three one hour behind the scenes tours (Saving a Species, Predators and Polar Tour). The last two years they also did a Dolphin Nursery Close Up Tour, but I think that has now been replaced by a behind the scenes tour were you go backstage at the Blue Horizons stadium and then spend some time interacting with the dolphins at Dolphin Cove.

We just got back from our WDW vacation and our first SW visit.

We did the Polar Expedition I think it was called 3 days ago. It was only $12.00 for adults and $10.00 for kids and was an hour long. We went behind the scenes at Wild Arctic building and saw the beluga whales, seals, polar bears and aviary to pet a penguin! It was so great. It was definately worth the $12.00 and the time to pet a penguin. I wouldn't recommend doing it though if you only have one day. We had two and still didn't get to see everything there! We did see Believe, Blue Horizons, Clyde and Seamore and Pets Ahoy though. We didn't get to see the manatees:sad1: But with all the animal feedings available in the park, I think they are way better than a tour. Plan on spending at least $50.00 on food though for the dolphins, rays and seals and sharks.

Did you have to go into water at the Polar Expedition? My mom can't swim but I think she would love to see the animals close up. Would someone who understands English but doesn't speak it that well, be able to enjoy this tour?

No, you don't get to go into the water with this tour. You just walk around behind the scenes and take a bus to the SW aviary to pet a penguin.

It really was a great experience to see the animals up close and learn about them.

As for the english part, the guide talks on a mega phone thing and occasionally asks if anyone has any questions, so if she can understand english that would work great. I didn't talk at all the whole tour;)

Here is a picture of me petting the cute little penguin

And a picture of the penguin...(sorry it's a little blurry)

Thanks a lot. It sounds and looks like a lot of fun... How many people do they take on the tour?

Thanks so much for the info! Seaworld's website is not very intuitive and I completely missed the info on the hour long tours. I am the volunteer photographer/webmaster for our zoo here and I went to the Saving a Species Tour a couple of years ago. I thought it was great. We were able to see manatees they had rescued including a baby, their vet area (through windows), what kind of kits they take on rescues and they have a aviary behind the scenes for rescued birds that they let you go into and feed the birds.

I'm definitely booking the Polar Expedition Tour for me and my DN 11. She's convinced she wants to be a vet and also volunteers with me at the zoo. Last time I was there I had to wait in line for Wild Arctic forever and they made me sit through the non motion part of the ride when all I really wanted to do is see the animals. I tried to sneak in from the gift store (a tip I read) but they seem to have someone watching that exit.

I used to sneak in through the gift shop as the choppy camera work even in the non motion version makes me motion sick. They are watching the back exit of the gift shop like a hawk now, but if you ask the member of staff manning the non motion version, they should just let walk through before the film starts. I have done that a number of times now.

Good tip! I do think I watched the floor more than the movie even in the non motion one!

Does Wild Arctic have a new simulator movie? I rode it five years ago and found it very disorienting and rough, but I rode it twice last week, and I enjoyed it very much. It wasn't too rough at all, and the film was not at all choppy. I don't remember the details of the film from several years ago, but I suspect it isn't the same.

Has anyone ever done the Dolphin Spotlight tour?
It is a 60 min. tour for $50.

I defiantely would like more info on this. I have already booked the Behind the Scenes tour where you pet the penguin-and that is only $12 --as was mentioned above. I am just wondering about the Dolphin tour and is it worth the difference in price.
