Season 7 of 'The Next Food Network Star' stars tonight at 9pm!

Why do the judges keep defending Penny? It's driving me crazy. If I hear that "she's a strong woman" line one more time... :headache:

She isn't a strong woman, she's horribly insecure.

I don't think they have any intention of giving her a show... they're just keeping her around for the drama, which is fine by me at this point ONLY because she hasn't been the worst thus far. If they keep her over someone who should have stayed, then I'm going to be furious.

Susie called her "aggressive" last night, which is spot-on. And it's also why watching her play the victim card is so utterly laughable. The longer she stays, the bigger joke she becomes, and I'm pretty sure they're smart enough to realize that. I honestly don't think she's insecure. I think she's just trying to play off of that when she doesn't do well and use it as an excuse.

It's funny to me that Susie thinks Jyll isn't genuine, but that's the feeling I still get from Suzie. And I was turned off when she got offended that Jyll was interested in her opinion. And she's too bubbly for me because I am not a bubbly person.

At this point, my favorites are Whitney, Mary Beth, Jeff, and Vic. And of the four of them, I think Vic truly has the ability to become the "star". I loved Whitney's performance this week, but I like her when she's more reserved, too.

I wonder when this was filmed and how awkward it was to pretend that it was the Fourth of July. LOL.

Agreed. At this point in the game, I also think Vic's tv persona is what Food Network is looking for this time around.

I don't know if I'd watch a show with Vic. In fact, as much as I like most of the remaining 'stars', I'd don't know if I'd watch a show with them. But then, I liked last year's winner (Aarti) but I've never watched her show. And I barely watch Melissa's show too. I might watch Jeff or Mary Beth. Depends on the point of view.

Anyone surprised by last night's results?

Yep. And what I was most surprised about was that Mary Beth was the bottom person from her group and not Chris. I seriously want to slap Penny. I don't think I've ever disliked a contestant so much. So her food was awesome. She didn't finish it in time!

Anyone know why Susie has been MIA 2 of the last 3 shows?

Anyone surprised by last night's results?

I wasn't, only because she was getting the "loser edit" throughout the entire first half of the show. But I think it's ridiculous that she was sent home before Chris. Come on!

Agree with everything you said. I thought Chris should have gone home for that cream cheese monstrosity. I also think the judges practically ignored the fact that Penny had NO food ready to serve the guests when the truck first opened. Her only saving grace is the fact that her food tastes great, but as they keep preaching, it's supposed to take more than good food to stay in the competition. :rolleyes1

I've said it before, they are keeping Penny around for the drama value. I'm sure they know how people feel about her.

Absolutely.

Yes. I expected Chris to go home. I mean, I can understand that being eliminate because while starting strong, there really hasn't been any improvement - especially the last few weeks. But Chris, really, cutting the lobster into small pieces? Why???? It disappeared on the cream cheese! Crazy!

I don't think they knew, until/unless they saw the tape. They didn't come around until quite a bit after the trucks started serving.

Penny can't go home soon enough for me!

I wasn't ready for her to go home yet because she was less annoying than chris and Penny. Oh well.

I watch Melissa very single week and make her food several times a week. I cooked dinner for my mom and sister last night (all Melissa"s recipes) and my mom, who hates cooking, called me this morning and asked me when and what time her show was on, lol.

I doubt there is anyone on this season I'd watch. But I can guarentee I'd never, ever watch Penny. EVER.

I agree. I haven't seen anyone on this season I want to watch again, BUT I know I couldn't stand a 1/2 hour of Penny every week.

Right now, and in no particular order, I would watch Mary Beth, Vic, Jeff,

Nope. That's it. If anybody else wins, I'm gonna teach that Food Network a lesson and NOT watch that show. That'll teach 'em not to pick somebody I don't like :rotfl2:

That's my list too. And I feel the same way. Maybe if everyone does that, they'll finally pick the right person! :lmao:

I still really like Whitney... if they would just stop picking on her life would be good. The thing that drives me crazy is that they tell her to be more animated, so she does that, and then they complain about it. Ugh.

Let her be herself... I'd be perfectly happy watching a calm, meticulous Whitney. Ellie Krieger isn't exactly a firecracker... and to be honest, neither is Bobby! LOL.

But Bobby's interesting to watch. If nothing else, he looks like a cross between Howdy Doody and Alfred E. Neumann :rotfl:. Claire Robinson and the kid who hosts Cupcake Wars bug the heck out of me. I watch the latter only in desperation, and stood Network Challenge almost never anymore :(

I like Whitney, but while attractive, at this point she's not really memorable. There's nothing about her persona - real or coached - that would make me need to watch her show. Not like Penny, whose show I would actively ignore. Just nothing compelling. Jyll, as I said before, is too much like Melissa in both looks and personality. Nothing compelling about a show she would do, either.

I like Jeff's concept - except the food truck; sandwiches are perfect for me since I dont cook. I like Mary Beth's personally & presentation, and usually she can cook, too. And I love that the judges are realizing how good Vic is. Okay, I've made my decision. They changed the name of the show? Good. The can change the rules and have three winners this season ;)

LOL, they both look like wind up dolls!! :lmao:

My fave is Vic and if Food Network has one bit of sense they'd hire him. They're attempts of trying to find another Guy has failed horribly and they need to go with what works.

The last four and the first one were all bombs imho.

:guilty: I know, I know. It just hurts my heart.:upsidedow

Glad to see this thread. I was suffering "The Voice" withdrawal.

I can't imagine Penny having a show of her own. Who would watch it?? She is SO dislikeable.

Mary Beth is pleasant, but bland. I don't think her show would be memorable. Same for Jyll. Whitney is sweet, but I don't think she has the chops.

Looks like Vic is coming out ahead. I can't imagine who else I'd even remotely watch on TV.
