Seasickness medications for kids and adults

Has anyone used seabands and found them to not be effective?
I can't actually say whether they worked for me or not because they were so uncomfortable and irritating to by wrists that I had to take them off after about 10 minutes. I have skinny wrists, so maybe that had something to do with it. :confused3

I also wanted to add that ginger (have tried every form) didn't help me at all. I was really hoping it would work because I don't like taking medicine unless there is no other option. That being said, what works for one person may not work for another. You have to experiment and figure out what works for you.

I have seen Sea Bands at WalMart. I decided to go with Bonine for the whole family. My pediatrician told me to cut the tablets in half for my 7 and 10 year olds. I believe I read somewhere that Bonine is what they have in a basket outside the ships Dr. office for free. I also agree that you should not wait to find out if you get seasick before you start taking the meds. I've heard the first day and the last day are always the roughest heading out and back in to PC. Has anyone else had side effects from Bonine? I had heard it wouldn't knock you out like Dramamine.

it is Meclizine, the same thing that is in Dramamine Less drowsy formula. Regular Dramamine is Dimenhydrinate. With that in mind Bonine should be less likely to make you sleepy than regular Dramamine.

Interestingly enough Dramamine actually includes a mild stimulant to counteract the sedation.

Try the med at home first. Any reaction to a new med is easier to treat at home with your family MD nearby, than at sea. :thumbsup2
