:goodvibesI promised Dh that we would go to an All-You-Can-Eat Seafood Buffet on our next trip. I don't like buffets, but if they have crab legs I can suck it up. :goodvibes

I've read some pretty horrific storie of some of the offsite Seafood restaurants, but I depend on DVC members opinions more than others, so wanted to ask here.

What are some good all you can eat Seafood restaurants? Crab leg's are a must, Dh loves mussel's, oysters (actually any seafood). Doesn't matter if it's onsite or off, as long as it's good, fresh seafood. Please, give me your opinions. :goodvibes

Cape May is a seafood buffet at Beach Club. I really enjoy the food there but then again I don't eat most the seafood items there(too messy! :lmao: ) so maybe I'm not the best judge. Everything else there is yummy tho.

The seafood buffet at dinner at Beach Club's Cape May is about as good as it gets for a seafood buffet. It includes crab legs, mussels, clams, fish, New England clam chowder, shrimp, but not oysters on the half shell. It also has chicken, beef, and other dishes for the seafood wary.

i wish there were a seafood buffet around orlando that came close to some of the great buffets in vegas: wynn, bellagio and rio...

I hear you, we love Vegas too!

Thanks for your input on Cape May Buffet, it's been year's since we've been there, but it sounds like that may be the best option for us...plus we havet he Table in Wonderland card so that (haven't checked) would be 20% off.

We eat at Boston Lobster Feast off site. The food is OK and the price not to bad with their email coupon.

:rotfl2: That's quite an endorsement!

You know me, I tell it like it is. :thumbsup2

I don't think that you will ever get great all you can eat seafood. The lobsters are on the small side and you need to pull them apart yourself. The shrimp is good as is the crab.

The restaurant could be cleaner.

The owners own a seafood distribution business and they supply restaurants in Orlando.

We also really enjoy the dinner buffet at the Garden Grove Restaurant at the Swan. Friday is seafood night on the buffet, and they do have snow crab.

Friday Buffet Menu - New England Clam Chowder, Table Side salad, Peel and Eat Shrimp, Ceviche Salad, Orzo and Crab Salad, Roasted Vegetable salad, Fruit Salad, Seafood Risotto, Cioppino, Steamed Mussels and Clams, Snow Crab Legs, Seafood Paella, Daily Catch with Lemon Beurre Blanc, Chimichuri Marinated Skirt Steak with Mushroom Ragu, Roasted Chicken with Crawfish Cream Sauce, Roasted fennel, Rice Pilaf, Assorted Desserts

It's not a buffet, but Johnnie's Hideaway at the Crossroads Shopping Center (near SSR and Downtown Disney) is one of our favorite off-site steak and seafood restaurants. (Bring money!)

:goodvibesI knew I could count on DVC'rs to have great input. Cape May is pulling out as the winner, although I never knew that the Garden Grove had Seafood on Friday nights...definitely something we'll consider.

Bill, I love your honesty and I think we'll pass on Boston Lobster Feast because dirty places really bug me. It is a place we had in mind, so I really appreciate your honest assessment.

forgot about this - tried it in may 2012. i don't remember crab legs - might be wrong about them - but they did throw in a stuffed half-lobster per person with a basket of fried seafood (popcorn and jumbo shrimp mostly IIRC). the seared scallops on the buffet never stayed out very long under the heat lamps and were very tasty and fresh - not rubbery. and the mini-desserts were first rate.

with the 20% DVC discount, it was a screaming good deal. shame on me for forgetting...

Yum, seared scallops sound wonderful!!! and we have DVC ,AP, TIW...whatever works.:goodvibes

The Garden Grove seafood buffet on Friday nights is quite good and it's rarely crowded.

1 vote for Cape May.

Garden Grove is not bad but I found that the food is not as good and often not hot enough.

Since it is smaller, the food rotation is not done as often as Cape May.

The dessert table is amazing at the Garden Grove !

We enjoy Cape May a lot! Never tried the Garden Grove.

BUT have to mention that on the Dream, the lunch buffet included peel your own shrimp and snow crab legs, every day we went! Wow, they were cold, so that was a turnoff for some in my family, but if you sail on the Dream, be sure to try the lunch at Cabanas!

Bobbi;)

Haven't been on a Disney Cruise yet, but crab legs every day makes it tempting!:goodvibes

marie1981- good to know about the food not being quite warm enough. Desserts just aren't are thing so that means Cape May has taken the lead.:)

Maybe it's just me, but the concept of seafood buffet is just asking for mediocrity. Not saying it's gross or will make you ill, it's just that freshness is key to good seafood. I'm guessing that most buffet places are supplied with frozen product which then goes into pans under hot lights for some period of time. That's two strikes against it.

I have tried Cape May, and it was pretty good. Folks who live in places with restaurants that serve truly fresh seafood are likely to be less generous with their comments.:earsboy:

I agree, but DH is dead set on a seafood buffet because he can eat his weight in any kind of food. Me, I dislike buffets for the reasons you stated and the fact that I don't eat much at one time but it's been several years since we've visited a buffet and I committed to doing one. :scared1: It's only one meal and I know that after he goes to one he will regret it and it will be several years before he REALLY wants to go to one again. :goodvibes
