I got back from Florida on Sunday--I hated the COLD return to reality--and ate at Cape May on Saturday night. They have rearranged some things, notably putting the desserts over by the entrance, and reducing the amount of desserts. This time the desserts had several types of cookies, key lime pie, cherry cobbler, flan, cheesecake, raspberry cake, chocolate cake, citrus cake, and a torte. The strawberry shortcake was gone, as were all the tiny pastries.
On the main buffet they had two kinds of soup, mussels, clams, shrimp--boiled, baked salmon, corn on the cob, red-skinned potatoes. Side 2 was corn bread, regular rolls, muffins, prime rib and flank steak (I think). I couldn't get close, due to all the people in line waiting for the chef to cut their meat. On the kids' end their was mac and cheese, fried fish nuggets, fried chicken strips, mini hot dogs, and french fries. Side 3 was baked chicken, vegies, ribs, mashed potatoes, gravy--2 kinds. Side 4 was salads, make your own, as well as about 15 different bowls of salads containing some kind of pasta, and one bowl of mixed fruit. There were also several whole bananas, whole strawberries, apples, and grapes decorating side 4, which were also being eaten, and were regularly replenished.
I may have forgotten a few things, but this will give you some idea of what is on the menu. Cape May used to be my favorite place to eat, but now my favorite is Boma's, which can't be beat with four soups, a huge fruit and vegie section, and hummus. Whoever heard of hummus on a buffet?!! Well, Boma's has it! Since my daughter is allergic to seafood, I'm mainly vegetarian, and my DH is strictly meat and potatoes, while my other daughter only eats seafood, we need a buffet that has it all. Cape May proved a difficult fit for me, as I had to try to find $23.95 worth of corn, squash, corn bread, and salad. We found that Boma's did better at making sure all of us had enough food to eat.
