Seafood anywhere near DL?

We'll be celebrating my DD's birthday when we are in DL, and she loves seafood. Any recommendations on where I can take her? We won't have access to a car, so are limited to places we can walk. Is Bubba Gumps the only option? Never been there, but I know they are known for shrimp. Storyteller's buffet sounds like it might be good, anyone know if they have seafood options? It can be fancy or not, just looking for good food with good atmosphere. We are even considering Napa Rose.

Look up Joe's crab shack, I really like the place and it is about 1.5 miles away. You can look up the location. Bubba Gumps is OK but I have only been to the one at city.

I think there is a McCormick & Schmidts- excellent seafood but $$$$
you could take a cab... Bubba Gumps is a good option for seafood- there is catfish if I recall (besides shrimp).Check there menu on line....

Since it's for your DD's birthday, I'd say either Joe's Crab Shack or Bubba Gumps. The food there is "fine" and the environment is pretty and cheerful for kids. There's enough on the menu at both of these places to please picky kids.

I prefer McCormick & Schmidts for quality, but it has an adult restaurant feel and it might be too formal-feeling for kiddos. This is a DL trip, go to the fun places instead! :goodvibes

I agree, if it's not an older sophiticated child these would be great option if you need selections of seafood.

If you need nice and a selection of Seafood M&S would be a better pick.

If you just need a fish option and don't want to walk, all of the sit down restaurant in the parks and hotels have at least one or two fish options. So NR, TS, BB, WCT.....all would work.

Take a look at the Disney menus.

I saw go for Joe's.. depending on how old DD is.. they dance and have a wild time there! The food is okay too.. nothing upscale :)

Thanks for all the recommendations. DD is turning 9 and has a very sophisticated palate, doesn't like typical kid food, and is good at both fine dining and fun places. I think we are leaning toward McCormick & Schmick's at this point, because it's walking distance and I know they'll have food she'll enjoy. My other kiddo is very much a typical kid, chicken strips and mac 'n cheese, so she'll be happy eating off the kid's menu. We'll probably let the birthday girl order what she wants off the adult menu, since it is her b-day and I'll probably end up sharing with her and other family members.

If we have a car next time, we will have to try Joe's and some of the other places that aren't as close. I appreciate the responses so much!

my 7 year old is is both she's happy with chicken fingers but loves clams.. lobster crab.. escargot

Nobody has mentioned the seafood place in DLH- Hook's Pointe? Did it close or go down hill? We ate there several years ago and it was quite nice.

Hooke's was a victim of the current renovations at the DL Hotel... to be replaced by a Tahitian Terrace tyoe place in the near future.

I don't know if island inspired food will include any fish, maybe but probably not what the OP is looking for her DDs dinner.

We love Bubba Gump's. It's got a fun atmosphere and the food has always been very good.
Also, in DTD Rainforest Cafe has a good selection of seafood and usually seems to be a big hit with kids.

DD5 LOVES McCormick & Schmicks. She BEGS to go there whenever we start talking about seafood. Not too stuffy, but certainly not as casual as Joe's or Bubba Gump's. IMHO, I prefer the food at McCormick and Schmicks over the other two choices. It's more expensive, but it's very nice quality.

If you make ressies, be sure to tell them that you are celebrating your DD's b-day and give them her name. They will print a "Happy Birthday" message at the top of all the menus for the night! We did that for DH's b-day last summer and had no idea that they would print it on the menu. It was such a nice surprise!!

I seem to recall a free shuttle service, to and from the Garden Walk, from the shuttle area next to the Esplanade. :tink:
