SDV Orlando, 2011, Aug 26-28th

I am trying to be patient while waiting for WDW SDV to be listed.

They haven't opened up yet have they- last year they didn't open until after the New Year and this year they are opening things later with the website switch.

I got the gypsy so I'm good. Don't lug your stuff half way across the country!

Don't worry about paying right away either, as long as you pay your $75 deposit you can make payments on the rest til June. Or at least that's what they did last year.

I'm still trying to decide what to do. They have free dining, so I may see if DH wants to come with the kids. Mom doesn't want to come if all this TSA whoohah doesn't stop.

Any new news on the orlando date /venue? I can never remember the name of their new website to go check.

Ya think Disneyland Emily might see what she can find out about 2011?
Sounds like Nancy might be "working on new dates and locations."
That makes me wonder if the dates could be different for some of the SDVs.

Disneyland Em - are you there? Can you ask around for us? :worship:

You don't need to bring a Cricut with you. I will be driving and bringing my Cricut and Gypsy.

I had heard a rumor of new dates and locations too. I hope they don't change the location from WDW, I guess we have to wait and see and make a decision once we know.

What are we going to do if they change the location to off property?

I guess it depends - if we're going for a Disney vacation. . . or "just" to scrap. I mean we could drive to one in Jersey if it's "just to scrap". Be a heckova lot easier and cheaper and less distractions.

For me, I fear scrapping will be a distraction and my real interest is visiting Disney with my peeps. Staying off property would s*ck big time.

Off site venues in Orlando - there are a lot of them - but they all involve hefty parking fees and ordinary hotels - kinda like going to the expo center in CT. Guess we'll have to wait and see. :confused3

I agree on all points. I think the draw for most people is the fact that it's on site. Not near by.

I guess we should not so patiently wait and see.

I honestly don't think they would take it off site- if they needed to make it less expensive they could go with Corando Springs(the moderate with a convention center) but they have so many people that fly in because it is on Disney- I mean I know about half the people drive but the other half are from all around the country and I think a lot of those would not come if it was off property. Of course if it was held on property at Universal Studios they might appeal to a different group of attendees.

The price would have to be considerably less to make it appealing to still attend if it were offsite from WDW. It you look at the prices for the other SDV crops, the prices are in line to want we have paid in the passed. I doubt I would be inclined to pay the same price as what we've paid in the past to scrap off site. The draw for me was being at WDW.

Hi ladies! Well, we've been home a week from Egypt and are finally feeling human again. DH got very sick on the plane ride home and I had a really hard time recovering from the jet lag. Didn't help that we were supposed to get home last Friday night but with so many delays we missed our final connection and got home last Saturday night. DH was home sick most of last week, but thankfully for me, my new boss is having me start my new job tomorrow (I was supposed to start last Monday). We had an amazing time in Egypt! I'll share all the photos with anyone who wants to see them, at SDV :goodvibes

Like Rebecca said, I think they would be foolish to move it off-site because at least half the people come in from out of state specifically because it's a crop at Disney. It's only a 1.5 hour drive for me, but I don't know if I would attend if it wasn't at Disney and if I didn't get to see all my DIS girlfriends. SDV would be losing a lot of money if it went off-site, and so would Disney, because people go to the parks, eat the food, extend their stays, and bring their families to make it a real Disney vacation. I honestly haven't even had the time to look at my e-mails from Nancy, and probably won't until after New Year's. I would be surprised (and majorly disappointed) if they took it off-site.

Here!

Well if what I heard was true- Its very safe to say SDV will not be at WDW anytime soon.

While I do not know exact specifics and do not want to spread rumors I can NOT verify I would urge that if you have prepaid for any future sessions to please inquire about said funds if you do not have exact confirmable details.

That is very unfortunate. :(
