I thought that would be the case. I have a completely unused and unlinked magic band I could use, but it's not attached to am mde. Guess I could put it on my boyfriend's mde; he's not going this trip either.

Thanks!!
You could assign it to a fake name on your MDE then you wouldn't need to access another MDE to make changes. Just realize once you assign the MB that you can't reassign it (to use it as a spare for you) later.

A a couple of questions about the dummy accounts - I've read about this before, but don't quite get it...does this dummy have to be on a reservation or linked to a package or anything like that. Can I assign one of my extra magic bands (I have several now) to a dummy? Will that dummy name appear when I want to do FP or ADRs for my trip? I have an active AP right now, expires in October.

Maybe this is all covered in detail somewhere?

I don't know the answers to all your questions but I do know that once an MB is linked to a person, it cannot be unlinked or transferred. Only deactivated.

Here is how I got an extra MB to use for fps:

My sister stayed with us during one of our trips. I made a profile for her on my MDE account. She received a MB since she was on the reservation. Once the trip was over I kept the MB and renamed the profile so that it had a fictional name. I didn't want to confuse the dummy profile with my real sister. This dummy profile became an account that I could use for fastpasses since it had a MagicBand attached to it.

I have a 5 day ticket as part of a package that I don't need because I have an AP. Since this is a profile that I manage it will be easy to reassign my ticket to this person. Once my AP expires I will reassign the ticket to myself.

But you don't have to go through all of this to get a profile with a MB that you can use for fastpasses. You can create a profile that you manage on your MDE account and then buy a MB which you would then link to the dummy profile.

I'm not sure from your question if you're trying to just have another account to reassign the ticket or to make extra (same day or in advance) FPP's with the extra ticket. If the former, then you can just add another name to your account or make a new one using a different email. However, if your question is about the latter, this (closed) thread has all the info - just read the first few posts: http://www.disboards.com/threads/maximize-fp-get-a-second-set-see-post-227-before-posting.3245463/

Can someone tell me where at City Hall I can find the kiosk? I thought just a few days ago someone posted they used them but a cast member just told me there aren't any there. Thank you.

Question: Will this strategy work if an old Magic Band is inactive or do you need to go back into MDE and activate it?

You have to activate the MB. It also works on old party cards and expired annual passes. As long as they show up in your MDE account and are active, they work.

I have been reading about this strategy for weeks now. I think I have a handle on it, but we go next week and I want to ask to make sure:

-Made a package reservation with MY MDE account.
-added a resort only reservation using my MOM'S MDE account.
-received MBs for both reservations
-booked FP+ 60 days out with the package and MY MDE account
-hoping to get SDFP+ using the bands that came with my MOM'S MDE room only reservation

Is this doable? We're not huge ride people, but I do want to use the SDFP for a parade or some shows if possible. TIA!

I haven't been to Disney in 5 years so all of this is new to me! Been reading for two days trying to catch up! I have made room only reservations and have bought tickets from undercover tourists. I will need to link my tickets to make my 60 day advance reservations. When we get there can I just tell them to not link the magic bands so we can get SDFP? I guess I could put them on my account using our middle names or something? That would avoid having to deal with 2 accounts.

Yep, you got it.

I think that FP+ for parades in MK are done. Shows are usually available as SDFP.

Can someone help me with my specifics? We booked room only thru DVC on old/current MDE account that previously had several sets of MB's tied to AP's. Also booked dining for this trip already, linked. Haven't bought our park tickets (which will be new AP's. Old ones expired for a year). Can I create a new MDE for the new annual passes and use the old ones for SDFP? Another possible kink... Mom and DH have their own MDE accounts and they're shared with my existing acct. AND DVC AP's have to be traced to the member, show ID, etc... Thanks!

Yes.

CMs don't ask for MDE accounts as a means of ID. If you are concerned about your parents, unlink them from your MDE account - delete from your family listing.

I have a 2013 "Key to the World" card and an AP card that I try to link and I get the message that they are linked to an account but I'm pretty sure I never linked them and I can't find them in my accounts. I have two "key to the world" cards that were used for room access but never had park tickets assigned; I get the message that they cannot be processed at this time. All of the cards have the encircled Mickey head at the bottom of the back of the card.

I guess I'm out of luck with these unless someone has a suggestion for me.

Yes.

But when you activate the DVC AP's everyone in the party has to show their ID's to confirm they live in the member's household, etc. So would mom have to create a new MDE account? Would they automatically be linked to the DVC account and that would screw it up?

Who exactly is planning to use an old account for SDFPs? Anyone who needs a secondary MDE needs a secondary email account to set it up.

Never link the original and the secondary MDE together and they don't get merged.

I have two old tickets that can be linked to a phantom. I don't get any error messages in MDE when I enter the ticket numbers but haven't completed the links yet. After reading the "big" thread I believe I can link each ticket to a new person and will not require a magic band for these phantom people. We can then use these cards for SDFP+. Is that correct? (The phantoms would only have this card assigned and no magic bands assigned.)

Trying tapping them at a kiosk - if they have the circled Mickey head, they'll get you SDFP+.

I have a reservation booked on my original MDE account for 5 people and already booked my fast pass reservations. Can I now book a dummy campsite reservation for 10 people on a new MDE account and get 10 dummy magic bands and book 30 SDFP at the kiosk? Would I need to check into the campsite in order to use the magic band or can I go right away to a park and make my selections? The dummy magic bands won't have a ticket attached to them, but that is ok as long as I make the reservations at the park? If disney fixes this loophole before I arrive what is the cancelation policy? How much will I be charged?

Thank you in advanced.
