SDFP: CHANGES COMING!! Beware the 7th of June?!

What does seem likely is that admission and FP tech (the bride and groom) will rebel unpredictably when the marriage takes place

@ScrapYap - a couple of weeks ago there was a separate thread about a GLFP not working and the guest went to GR to complain. The Guest was told it was not a valid FP. A non-expiry ticket had been used to generate the FP and the thread was deleted because of TOS concerns.

Perhaps Disney was running tests on specific ticket groups before they bring it online for all park admission types?

I've only really seen the sourcing as "a guest services CM". For sure, they may be in the know... But what other indications are there? Or what is their sourcing? Was there a presentation given to GS personnel? Super bummed if it does happen!

That's an interesting possibility. I know they were working generally. But maybe, as you say, they were testing the waters with specific ticket groups.

Sometimes we can't tell how we know what we know. Or who we really are. Or anything like that. But judging from the high reliability of this thread historically, it's a pretty safe bet that this is happening.

We're still trying to obtain more info.

Our main goal right now is that thread participants and lurkers, :wave2:, don't get locked out of their primary MDE on June 6th when the probability of this going into effect is high.

I have no doubt this information is reliable and accurate. I've been waiting to hear when Disney was going to make this change and appreciate the heads up from the experts here! Thank you.

For maximum benefit, book FPs for your Main Party AND your secondary/phantom group.

You will enter the park with 6 pre-booked FP. Use your Main group FPs and then move over your secondary/phantom passes one by one.

There is no reason to only have 3 FPs if you have ticket entitlements to book FPs and utilize the Change Party function.
Can you cancel your 3rd FP and then start transferring? This would be helpful for me in Epcot since I only really use FP for Soarin there and would hate to have to wait for my useless FPs to expire or get tapped to start using my other FPs.

Yes, you can do that as long as you don't try to transfer another Tier 1 or duplicate the first two FP attractions.

The Tiering always applies in Tiered parks for your initial 3 FPs.

Granted - Appreciated and understood. Just hoping it doesn't work out!
Thanks a Ton!

I'm just trying to understand.
So, you could cancel the 1st two FP, ride Soarin, then transfer another Soarin and ride Soarin a 2nd time? Thanks again.

Are you absolutely sure of this part? I thought I'd tested that in the past successfully but will try again tomorrow or Monday to be sure. I may need to be moving stuff around for our July FPP's!

Also, I hope to test at some point this weekend if possible whether the Tiering at AK works like at Epcot and DHS - meaning if you use your FOP FPP and two others, can you then get another for FOP or NRJ? Hopefully it's set up the same way but important to remember that using Change Party that you'll need to use/pass the window of the first two on your original account before you can transfer another Pandora attraction.
I am pretty sure that I have transferred FPs after their start time. Just tested this on the app and it worked fine, though not in the park today.

Canceling doesn't work because it opens back up your Initial 3 FP slots. That's why you can't transfer over another Tier 1 because you are still in your "Initial 3 phase." You do have to follow the Tiering guidelines for your initial 3.

Allowing a FP to expire may still work but that's an unknown until after the FP system gets tweaked.

Sounds like we need to use 3 FPs before we can transfer another Soarin.

Many thanks for all the info here. We used SDFP last summer, and it was awesome, though honestly, it is most useful in MK, not so much in the other parks. Guess we will be waiting to see how this all works out in June, before our August trip this summer.

This is what I wanted to try tonight at AK. I have 2 Tier 2s that have already expired this morning. One coming up for FoP, and a NRJ that I wanted to transfer.

That seems like the most likely (and sanest) approach. Merging the data and flagging ticketless FPs, is something they could easily do behind the scenes without hitting the guests with a stick yet. Also Disney likely looked at the volume of SDFP that were not connected to a valid ticket, saw that number as significant and is now moving to close the loophole.
Now that they feel confident that they can without the system messing up, they can put in the locking.

Personally, this benefits me. Even though we knew about SDFP, we didn't use them since we thought that was cheating the system. But there is a strong feeling that we would have to use SDFP soon since 'everyone' else was doing it. I'd rather no one have ticketless SDFP, and we can all fight for 4th FP+ on equal footing.

We just used SDFP on our trip from May 14-19. On our last day, one of our three SDFP bands prompted a blue Mickey head on a ride (Pooh, I think). The CM waved us through, but I wonder if it could have been indicative of this coming change? I'm sad to see it go, but I certainly understand why Disney is closing this loophole!

As a local who doesn't know 30 days out yet alone 24 hours out most trips I rely on SDFP so does this mean I'm stuck in standby only?

No; what you use are "day of FPs" which are based on your valid ticket entitlements.

SDFP is a completely different "loophole" concept.
