'Scuse me whilest I stand on a (small) Disney Soapbox for jest a minute...

My DH has worked in hotel maintenance management for years and still works on maintenance issues too. He works for a nice hotel chain and has worked for 2 of the largest chains. . He says the cheap tp and paper towels is a maintenance issue. When they try the more "luxurious" tp folks clog the toilets a lot. The thin to is designed to dissolve quickly to keep clogs at bay. Same with the paper towels , people flush them for some reason.

I hate to admit it, but that totally makes sense to me and gives a sense of perspective.

And "flushable" wipes that wind up in giant clogs in the sewer systems. Don't flush those things; toss them in the garbage.

The non-Disney hotels I stay at generally do have nice toiletries and nice toilet paper - also, much nicer bath towels. Charging a ton for a "deluxe" hotel and putting the 21st century equivalent of the Sears catalog and a copy of the yellow pages in the bathroom as toilet paper is a Disney thing. And this is a Disney issue - not a DVC issue. The hotel side is crap as well.

(I miss the Mickey Mouse shaped butter pats in the restaurant. It all started to go downhill from there).

Apparently, Disney doesn't build their waste mitigation systems to a threshold that properly transports and degrades normal toilet tissue? Sounds like crap to me. :D

One area of frustration for me during my last trip to Kidani was there were no shampoo or conditioner bottles for the bath tub in the master bath. They were in the shower. It made it impossible to use the tub unless you brought your own shampoo/ conditioner.

Like was mentioned earlier, they used to get brought home, not just used. I bet since they went to "plain" the loss levels have dropped like a rock and people only use what they use now.

That said, I am also in agreement with the OP. The DVC hotels are "comparable" to the deluxe resorts. That's one of the pitches to buying DVC. But at Disney hotels it's not like they have the cheap toilet paper at POP and the nice stuff at the GF. It's all around cheap. It would be nice if the people paying $500/night (not to mention us at DVC who paid thousands and pay more every year) got a softer paper.
That's the way it is at every hotel though. I've stayed at JW Marriott's that have the same cheap toilet paper.

:) More likely, the number of kids who ALOT of tp at Disney than in other high end hotels. I think most people's kids went through that stage where you wrap the tp around your hand, what 40 or 50 times?

The toilet paper is the worst.

We returned from a 10 day stay Unfortunately we had the awful one ply, sandpaper type TP On the airplane ride home, I was sure I'd either cut myself on that toilet paper or developed hemorrhoids or some such similar problem The ride home was NOT comfortable! However, after a couple days home, I can sit comfortably again You can be sure I'll be bringing my own TP from now on

Can somebody please explain to me that while our annual dues skyrocket every year, here I sit in Kidani this week in a savannah studio, where we are relegated 1 singular bar of H20 Disney branded soap to share between the shower and the sink, which is really only a half bar by any normal person's standards to begin with; that said bar sells for upwards of $7 in the gift shop just down the hall? It's worth about $0.50 at best.
I see your problem right there. You shoulda bought @ BLT. Nothing but the best there. Charmin, double-ply, and enough to wallpaper the room if you so desire. Full-size bars of soap and full-size bottles of shampoo - take all you like. They even leave boxed sets in case you want to take it home.

Nah, J/K. Same issue @ BLT. Thanks for bringing this important issue to the forefront. That was brave of you. You know, Disney could make a fortune just selling more high-quality toilet paper @ the convenience store (or do they?).

HA!! I was going to totally ask you which BLT you had stayed at bc we were there in Oct and the TP could have totally chapped your bum!!

I have 4 rolls of charmin packed in our suitcase for our trip starting next week!
:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I own at BLT too. I knew there had to be a catch, because I am quite certain this is the case everywhere.

Now... Where were those boxed sets again? It's almost Christmas.

The shampoo and conditioner? Same thing. Disney branded H2O (Arguably good stuff. I'll give you that.) under lock and key and security screws under penalty of banishment from property should you dare pump either one more than twice. They are probably Bluetooth linked to the front desk.
we generally follow the rules but admit to having our way with the H2O shampoo :rolleyes1
Some folks can’t be trusted with a roll of Charmin.
do you by chance know my DSs & grand children? lol

Older pipes/septic systems beg for scotts traditional TP that dissolves quickly.
We bring our own coffee too, even knowing that we're paying (via MFs) for unlimited coffee supplies for others who don't mind drinking what DVC provides
Don’t consider myself a coffee snob by any means but I won’t drink what is provided...do make it up in the aforementioned shampoo :duck:

Every person has to decide if DVC is worth it. At some point, it isn't anymore. You don't get the value you used to get or thought you would get. Fortunately, there has always been someone else who thinks DVC is completely worth it, even if the TP and toiletries aren't good to step in when you decide that you'd rather stay in a regular hotel and not a timeshare, or stay offsite in a better quality hotel than is onsite. Or skip Disney all together to spend time in Europe or Africa or Tahiti. DVC isn't for everyone, and it isn't for everyone for the long term. Disney isn't for everyone and it isn't a long term thing for everyone. No shame in saying "for what I pay every year in dues, packing my own toilet paper is not acceptable" and selling.

Remember how for decades DVC set the standard for quality accomodations and customer service. Now it seems just enough to get by and explains why no DVC stays since 2017 for us. We've let other family members use the points but even they are becoming disillusioned about the declining standards.

Like this one... This is what WDW used to do! when they still cared about guestsView attachment 541527
Thanks very much for the photo, I didn't have one. It was before the days of cell phones, and we usually saved our film for more "important" photos. It is amazing how we miss photos of what seemed unimportant at the time.

You are very welcome, It's the touches like these which made Disney well, Disney!

With photography being a passion of mine in the film days I would bring 20-30 rolls of film with me on a Disney trip because the difference between awsome and blah is sometimes just a fraction of a second. so I would photograph insignificant things as well as 'significant;' stuff. Now if I was using sheet film in 2 shot holders an entirely different calculus applies

It's like a picture of a cat yawning, Time it just right AWESOME, miss the moment hey this cat has its mouth open.

... :duck:
If only that Disney tp was the same quality as Scotts traditional. I've never seen double ply (and it really is double ply) quite so thin and see through.
