Scream Team at YC/BC--EDITED 1/7/08 POST 1

Hey guys, I see from Mel's weekend events thread that a bunch of us are going to be scream teamin' it for the Full at the YC/BC around mile 24. I also see a bunch of TBDs for location. I thought I'd start a thread for all of us who are going to be at that location. Since I'm lazy , I probably won't keep a tally at the top of the thread (and since Mel already has the master list), but I wanted to talk about plans: when is everyone getting there? Should we do YC or BC? I know last year, everyone was close to Stormalong Bay, but I also remember Mel was at the YC.

I'm going to be at Red Water Stop #2 and won't get free'd up till about 9am, but then I'm going to head right over to YC/BC, so I should be there by 9:30 or so.

So who else is with me?

If I forgot anyone, please let me know! Also is anyone interested in bringing any provisions for the runners? I mentioned later on in the thread that I'll bring a big bag of hard candy and some pretzel rods. I'd like to bring water/Gatorade, but with being pregnant, I'm really not supposed to carry heavy things for very long. But if someone else wants to do that, I'll definitely pitch in some money for that.

Also, how long does everyone plan on staying? I know this your vacation and some of you have spouses that are running the marathon and you want to see them cross the finish line (unless you are like me, I told Stephen see ya whenever! ), but I just want to make sure there will be people there for all the Wishers. I plan on getting there about 9:30 and staying until everyone crosses, so that would be about 12:45, I guess?

We can talk more about everything this week and at the Pop Friday night. So excited to see everyone!!

I havent figured out a plan for the full yet - I'm hoping its possible to cheer dh from inside the MK - and then take the monorail over to Epcot - and thru to the YC/BC ??

When he ran his marathons in Chicago I've always been able to cheer him from 2 locations!! I'm excited this year that the WISH scream team will help me cheer him on!! (and cheer for me as well - half - first ever, nerves )

I think from reading I've figured out I cant be at the MK and then get to AK and then get to the finish line before dh!! but he does say that the route after MK to MGM looks brutal

So I've been debating MGM (OK< what's the new name? Hollywood studios?) or Yc?BC - since we're staying at BC, I was thinking that might be my choice!!

I am torn about where to go. I'd love to scream team at YC/BC. But not sure how to work that with meeting Chad at the finish.

Krista - My DH and DD's will be there after they see me at AK at mile 17. I will then join them at YC/BC after I finish the full and walk back through EPCOT.
They will have their cowbells and you won't miss them ! I will try to get one of my DD's to wear one of my extra WISH shirts also . We will stay at BC to cheer until all of our WISH'ers have safely made it to that point . We will have supplies with us for any WISH'ers who need them along with lots of encouragement and support.

Thank you! I always struggle terribly, both physically and mentally, in those last 6 miles, so I will be thinking of you guys after I come out of the Studios. You'll be the magnet that keeps pulling me. I very much look forward to seeing you all on the stretch in front of the Yacht and Beach Clubs. You may not recognize me, since God knows what I'll be wearing, but I'll recognize you, especially if Krista is wearing that black and gold #86 jersey from the Tower of Terror.

I agree! I'm not sure how I'll get thru my first half - but dh told me his first marathon ever, the crowds kept yelling his name (he forgot I had him wear a shirt with his name on it! ) he's never forgotten how much that helped him!!

I used to have cowbells for our hockey days!! I must go digging again!!

I just wanted to chime in here to thank everyone who is going to scream team during the full. Last year, I was barely on my feet or moving by mile 20. It was only because I knew I'd see WISHers at Y/BC that I was able to stay motivated and not completely let Rhonda down. She kept reminding me our teammates would be there. I was so grateful to everyone we saw there and all the support and supplies they provided. Knowing there were more WISHers at the finish meant more to me than the medal at that point, too.

I will be there! I love cheering on the runners/walkers/wishers!! Last year I didn't really know there was an organized group of WISHER's.. and I ended up doing a cheering on my own... I was in MGM.. and sort of took on the role of crossing guard.. cause Man.. there are some people who just don't get it... and think they have the right to take their stroller.. 12 kids and park map and cross blindly in front of oncoming runners who OBVIOUSLY had no water and were struggling!! I ended up buying park waters.. and handing some out.. I then joined up with another WISHER's husband and kids and showed them the quick way to EPCOT... to get to the finish.. I was at the finish line too.. and it was great fun!! But.. Would love to cheer with my fellow WISHER's.. So.. if you will have me.. I'll be there

Anne I still remember fondly you telling me not to worry that we couldn't be swept as we passed you at YC!!

I'm such a rookie at this! We plan to spend Sunday at Epcot but would like to scream team first. Can you walk to BC/YC from Epcot or does the monorail to that direction or?? When could we expect to start seeing WISHers come through? I thought maybe we could go to Epcot right at 9 and hit a couple of big rides, and then scoot over to cheer for a while, and then go back to Epcot later. Am I dreaming or is this possible?

We will be there! We have lunch ressies at Sci-Fi at 11:30 but should be able to hang for a bit before we head over to the Studios.

I am so there!! It was a great place to be. Erica, don't say that too loudly ..I've since learned that I shouldn't have said that. If a runner stops their forward motion at that point..they will get pulled from the course! Anne

There is a back entrance(International Gateway) to EPCOT from the Boardwalk Resorts(BC/YC). You can do your rides and sneak out the back door to join the scream team!

I'd love to join you guys. Since this is my first marathon experience, I've told DH and DD that I want to scream team on Sunday before I join them in the parks, but I didn't want to do it on my own. Just tell me when and where to be (and what to bring) and I'll be there!

Our group is going to rock!!! I'll get to the YC/BC about 9:30ish, I'll be doing the red #2 water stop until 9:00, so however long it takes me to get back to the WWoS and then drive to the Yacht Club. I'd like to stay until about 12:30 and then I'll be driving over to Epcot/finish line to meet Stephen. I will have a car, so I'd have room to take probably 3 people with me, if anyone wants a ride to Epcot or if anyone volunteering with me wants a ride to the Yacht Club.

I was thinking about getting a bunch of hard candy for a sugar spike. I'm not going to be able to carry anything heavy like cases of water or Gatorade (apparently babies don't like that ), but I'm definitely willing to pitch in some $ if someone else wants to do this. Maybe I should also bring a box of Kleenex, I know I was a MESS by mile 24 last year!

Where does everyone want to meet? I was thinking between the Yacht Club lighthouse and the Storm-A-Long Bay pirate ship slide. I will have a big WISH Club poster and hopefully my Wish t-shirt so we can find each other!

Stephen and I aren't leaving until next Friday, so we'll be here all next week so we can hammer out some concrete things and then we'll be at Pop, so we can all talk then.

Karla--The Yacht Club/Beach Club is about a 5 second walk from the World Showcase in Epcot, so you can easily walk out the International Gateway and cheer for a little bit and then get back to your vacation.

Krista - we can talk at Pop about our game plan for our water stop. I will have a car as well. I usually drive to Epcot and drop the car then go scream teaming. So, I really have no idea how to work this this time since they say they want us to park at WWoS.

So, where exactly will we find everyone and where is it from the back entrance to Epcot? I'm excited!

When are you are in Epcot, head toward's the World Showcase. Between the United Kingdom and France, you'll notice there is a pathway before you cross the bride. That pathway leads you to the International Gateway which is the entrance/exit for the Epcot resort area aka the back entrance. If you walk out that exit and go straight (be careful this is also the marathon course) you'll see a lagoon on your left and hotels on your right, the 1st hotel is the Beach Club (they are green buildings and blue buildings) and the 2nd hotel is the Yacht Club (which is white). You will see a pool connecting the 2 resorts, this is Storm-A-Long Bay, we'll be standing between the pirate ship (which is the pool slide) and the lighthouse, on the right hand side of the sidewalk. I will have a BIG Wish sign and many of us will be wearing our green Wish shirts. I think it'll be hard to miss us! Hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions.
